EXPERT CARE TO IMPROVE BOTH SURVIVAL AND QUALITY OF LIFE ¡ We treat all forms of head and neck cancers, including those of the larynx, oral cavity, salivary glands, sinuses, skull base and thyroid gland, as well as those of the throat, tongue and tonsils. ¡ Our treatment team understands that maintaining physical appearance and preserving functions such as speech, swallowing, taste and hearing are important considerations. ¡ We offer promising new treatment methods that are often unavailable elsewhere, through a full complement of clinical trials.

WHY REFER TO UCSF? ¡ We offer the full range of reconstructive surgery techniques, including microvascular free flaps to restore skin color and contour to patients with deformities and to optimize critical functions such as speech, swallowing and breathing. ¡ In-clinic speech-language pathologists work with surgeons to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with speech and swallowing disorders. ¡ Our full team participates in a weekly, multidisciplinary Head and Neck Tumor Board to discuss all new patients.

¡ We offer highly advanced radiation therapy techniques, including CyberKnife and Gamma Knife, hyperthermia therapy, intraoperative radiation therapy, brachytherapy, superficial radiation for skin cancers, conformal and intensity-modulated radiotherapy, radio-immunotherapy and more. ¡ Our Neck Mass Clinic offers same-day referral to imaging and pathology workup for patients with a suspected neck mass. ¡ Our Oral Dysplasia Clinic offers single point of care for diagnoses such as lichen planus and proliferative verrucous leukoplakia.
