What's New in Greater Palm Springs

immersive visuals, and scientific storytelling in weekly Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon shows in Palm Springs.

The culinary and hospitality landscape is expanding with a diverse array of new businesses. One of the most anticipated additions is Beaton’s, an intimate "Lost Generation" lounge located next to Bar Cecil, featuring aesthetically dazzling interiors and a menu of snacks like roast duck filled bao. Sunset has opened in the former Alibi space, offering California cuisine for lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch. Sweet and caffeinated options are also arriving, including Winston Pies on El Paseo, which specializes in North Carolina style handmade treats, and Coffee Dose, which has brought its sassy pink aesthetic and drive thru service to a midcentury building on Palm Canyon Drive. Other notable business news includes the potential arrival of Luchador Brewing Company, a Mexican wrestling‑themed brewery that has applied for a liquor license to open a new location in downtown Palm Springs. Starbucks and Chipotle are now the first businesses to open at Cathedral Cove Center, the new nearly 6‑acre development taking shape at the southwest corner of Date Palm and East Palm Canyon drives in Cathedral City.

Major developments and recreational sites are also reaching completion. The Disney branded Cotino community in Rancho Mirage will debut Cotino Bay Beach in the fall of 2026, offering a large swimmable lagoon with waterfront dining and a second, larger location of the artisan staple On the Mark. Adventure seekers can look forward to the early summer opening of DSRT Surf in Palm Desert, featuring a 5.5 acre surf lagoon and a hotel. Cultural icons are returning to the spotlight as well; the historic Plaza Theatre is now open following a $34 million restoration, and the Palm Springs Air Museum is completing its modernization with a brand new facade and learning center renovation. Dezart Performs celebrates its current season in its new home, the Dezart Playhouse—formerly a church designed by Robson Chambers and Albert Frey—bringing dynamic, contemporary theatre to a beautifully restored Palm Springs landmark.
