A LETTER FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR On behalf of the Board and Staff of Bolingbrook Park District, thank you for partnering with us in our constant pursuit to be the place where Bolingbrook finds the fun! In 2018, Bolingbrook residents demonstrated support for the Park District by approving a referendum to fund a five-year plan to provide improvements throughout our system of parks, pathways and facilities. We are proud to report that we have delivered on all items from our plan. The result has been a positive impact on residents throughout the community. According to Park District Board President Jerry Hix, “The Board of Commissioners is very proud of delivering high quality projects that fulfill the promises made during the referendum cycle. We very much appreciate the resounding confidence in the Bolingbrook Park District reflected in the 62% voter approval of the referendum question.” We concluded the plan this year by updating Balstrode and Erickson playgrounds, which were the last of 21 playgrounds throughout Bolingbrook updated as a part of the plan. Here are a few of the other items accomplished from the plan: •

At the Bolingbrook Recreation & Aquatic Center (BRAC) a new entrance, program rooms, family changing rooms, locker room improvements, and water park lazy river enhancements were completed.

Completed bridge and pathway construction connecting existing trails on Lily Cache Greenway in the Weber and Hassert Road area through Bradford and Drafke Parks.

•

Purchase of critical equipment to support operations including new pumps, fitness equipment, trucks, tractors, mowers, paving, roofing and HVAC units.

I am extremely proud of this dedicated Bolingbrook Park District team for accomplishing all of this during the most challenging of times. To say that a lot has happened in the world since 2018 is an understatement. Throughout all that has transpired, the support from our residents and Bolingbrook agencies has helped propel our Board and Staff forward to accomplish this plan. 2023 has been a spectacular year at the Bolingbrook Park District as many residents and visitors alike have found the fun with us. We have witnessed so many smiles during the past year, that we cannot possibly keep up. What’s incredible is that in 2023 we have experienced record numbers of attendees at Pelican Harbor, continued strong golf participation at Boughton Ridge, increased use of Lifestyles Fitness Center, as well as enhanced participation numbers in all areas of recreation programming. We are not resting on the accomplishments of these past several years. We have a great plan of programs and activities in store for you in 2024. Make sure that you read through this brochure. Keep in mind that not every program is for everyone, but there is something for everyone here at the Park District! Don’t miss our annual Winterfest scheduled for Saturday, February 3rd from 11am-2pm! Look for information for this fun outdoor winter event in the brochure or online at www.bolingbrookparks.org. PARKIE’S BABIES SWIM LESSONS Ages 6 months–3 years with adult This class consists of four progressive levels that begin with your child gaining comfort in the water, learning to hold their breath under water, swimming to the wall for safety, and progressing to swimming on their own. A child’s developing world is a complex thing. Let us help your child navigate through their early years with confidence and selfesteem. We offer engaging early childhood classes for children starting at ages 13 months and up. The celebrated Bolingbrook Park District preschool program helps children begin to build a solid foundation for future academic success. Early childhood and preschool programs focus on social, emotional, cognitive and physical areas of development while incorporating the wonderful diverse Bolingbrook community.

LITTLE LEARNERS Ages 18 months–3 years Little Learners classes provide children with opportunities to socialize, overcome separation anxiety, and be creative, all while enjoying their first classroom experience. Time in class includes free play, clean-up and group time. Children will interact with age-appropriate toys, have sensory encounters, create both process and product-based art and participate in music/movement activities. Curriculum for these classes are planned using the Illinois Early Learning Guidelines for Children Birth to Age Three. PARENT NOTES: • Please dress your child in play clothes. • Children do not have to be toilet trained for these classes. • We request that you remain in the building during class time. • Little Learners 1 is with adult. Little Learners 2 is a transitional class, allowing for adult participation if needed. Little Learners 3 is child only. Create a Learner for Life The Bolingbrook Park District preschool programs, offered for children ages 2 ½ to 5 years of age, focus on educating children in a way that makes learning fun. Experienced teachers create a warm, positive educational environment that fosters a child’s natural creativity and curiosity. Children are engaged in a variety of developmentally appropriate activities that are aligned with state preschool learning standards. We communicate with kindergarten program administrators in the area to ensure that our curriculum prepares our students for success in elementary school.

Preschool Programs

SOON 2B3 PROGRAM Children 2 ½–3 years old have their first positive experiences in a preschool classroom and become comfortable separating from parents for a regular period of time. Development of social skills, large and small motor skills, and basic curriculum concepts are a part of your child’s day. Diapers and pull-ups are acceptable to begin with, but children should be on his or her way to taking care of their own toileting needs. This class runs 2 days per week. 3 YEAR OLD PROGRAM This program nurtures a 3 year old’s social and emotional growth and provides a curriculum focusing on letters, numbers, shapes and colors and the beginning stages of writing. This class runs 2 or 3 days per week. 4 YEAR OLD PROGRAM In this program, 4 year olds strengthen relationships with friends and teachers and begin to understand responsibility as they become more self-sufficient. The curriculum focuses on emerging literacy, math, science, creative art and fine motor skills to prepare children for Kindergarten. This class runs 2, 3 or 4 days per week.

PLEASE NOTE: 3’s and 4’s students must be 3 or 4 years old by September 1, 2023. Soon2B3’s students must turn 3 by March 1, 2024.

LEGO ROBOTICS ACADEMY Ages 6-14 years The LEGO Robotics Academy is a comprehensive program where children learn to design, build and program projects based on LEGO Education robotics. Using a creative educational approach that supports Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM), this class uses teacher-led instruction followed by fun, engaging, and dynamic activities. Students are introduced to basic robotics and mechanical engineering concepts by building and coding a different project each week. All activities are hands-on with different experiments each week. • Meteorology Madness: Learn how the flow of energy drives the water cycle. Use real weather instruments to measure temperature, barometric pressure, humidity, wind speed, and wind direction. Make and take home your own windsock. • Smarty Plants: Get all the Seedy facts on the parts of a plant as we dissect a real flower. CAMP ALOTTA FUN — WINTER DAY CAMP Kindergarten through 8th Grade Are you looking for something for the kids to do over winter break? Winter Camp Alotta Fun will provide campers with the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of fun and exciting activities such as arts and crafts, games, sports, music and swimming every day at Pelican Harbor Indoor Pool. After School Dance Classes (school-aged kids) The Powerdance Program is in place to offer a fun and safe environment for school-age kids to be introduced to dance with their friends. It takes place right after school and at select schools to make it easier for kids to participate. Some students may want to progress into the more technical aspects of dance and choose to take other Dance Academy classes. Other students may simply want to enjoy a fun and engaging opportunity to dance with their friends. In the end, everyone gets the opportunity to enjoy dance. Adult Dance Classes (ages 18 years & up) Adult classes are geared toward those ages 18 years and older. We offer a variety of participation options from drop-in classes to multi-week class sessions. BPD Performance Company The BPD Performance Company is a year long, premier performance dance team from the BPD Dance Academy. At this time, participation in the BPD Performance Company is by invitation only to select Mini (5–7) and Junior (8–12) aged dancers. The BPD Performance Company is derived of dancers who have been recognized for being hard-working, dedicated and professional, with great potential to become strong and confident young performers. The BPD Performance Company focuses on choreography and dance technique for a variety of dance styles including Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, Acro and Tap. Our dancers can be seen performing at events throughout the Bolingbrook Community and surrounding areas all year long. Sports & Fitness BOLINGBROOK ILLUSIONS TEAMS* Ages 6–18 years This award-winning team competes against other teams in the midwest. We offer level 2–5 compulsory gymnastics and all levels of Xcel. These teams will follow routines and progressions for vault, uneven bars, beam and floor created by USA Gymnastics. Competition takes place from January through May as part of the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU); Gymnastics of Illinois Junior Organization (GIJO). It is a great way to prepare your child for high school gymnastics. Testing is done late spring and early fall and is required in order to enroll as a new member of the team. *Parents are required to attend our annual mandatory meeting. Sports & Fitness JUNIOR BASKETBALL LEAGUE Ages 5–8 years (Kindergarten thru 2nd Grade) This introductory league will teach the fundamentals and skills of basketball as students learn how to play in a team environment. The first three weeks will consist of practice every Sunday, then one game on Sundays. Games will be on Sundays beginning November 5. Game & practice times will be Sundays between Noon–5:00 pm. Ages 5–6 will play on an 8ft hoop with a size 26.5” ball and ages 7–8 will play on a 9ft hoop with a size 27.5” ball. All players will be placed on teams by October 13. Team jerseys will be provided. Aqua Fitness Join one of our aqua fitness programs to experience a great workout with very little impact on your joints. You’ll find a class to meet all levels of ability on our schedule. Benefits of aqua fitness include: • Reduce the risk of muscle or joint injury through low-impact exercise. • Use the natural resistance of the water to improve cardiovascular stamina, range of motion, muscular endurance and strength while melting unwanted body fat. • Prevents overheating through continuous cooling of the body. • Exercise is performed in shallow water, so little to no swimming ability is required to participate. 58

Sports & Fitness Open Play • The term “Open Play” is to be used for all of the following drop–in gymnasium offerings: basketball, pickleball, table tennis and volleyball. • Open play is only available during advertised open play times, per that specific sport and age range. • A fitness membership, punch pass or payment of a daily fee is required for all open play, drop–in programs. This includes open play volleyball, table tennis and pickleball options for seniors. • No additional participants will be allowed after each time slot hits 30 participants per full court. • Open play participants need to pay and present their school ID or provide their membership/punch pass at the Customer Care Desk to enter. • Children 10 years or younger must be accompanied by an adult, maximum of 4 kids per adult. • Each individual must pay the fee, even a adult entering with a child is required to pay or swipe membership card or punch pass. ♦ 11 years and up may enter without an adult. ♦ 10 years and under must have adult supervision, an adult must enter gymnasium and stay with them. ♦ Maximum of 4 kids aged 10 and under are allowed per one adult. Must provide school ID and wear wristband to enter gymnasium. 2. Food and beverages are allowed in the bleachers only. No food on the floor. 3. If you are on the gym floor you must be playing the prescribed sport (i.e. football, pickleball, soccer, volleyball or basketball) 4. Shirts and rubber soled athletic shoes shoes are required. 5. Children under the age of 11 must be accompanied by an adult. 6. Refrain from obscene language and profanity. 7. No hanging on nets or rims. 8. Respect other people’s rights, boundaries and property. Keep your hands to yourself. 9. Respect the hallways, lobby and restrooms (i.e. use appropriate tone/decibel of voice, no foul language, no running in hallways, etc.) 10. You must leave building when open play is over. Note: There is no open play during the summer months as the district’s customer focus turns to day camps’ full use of the Bolingbrook Recreation and Aquatic Center. Bolingbrook Tee-Ball Association is an introductory level of baseball for both boys and girls ages 4–8. Little Tees: 4 year olds 4 year old boys and girls are introduced to the basic baseball concepts and skills of hitting a ball from a baseball tee, catching, throwing and running the bases in a non-competitive instructional league. Tee-Ball: Ages 5–6 5 and 6 year old boys and girls continue developing concepts and skills of hitting a ball from a batting tee, throwing, catching and running the bases in a minimally competitive instructional league. Coach pitching will also be introduced mid-season. Coach Pitch/Kid Pitch: Ages 7–8 7 and 8 year old boys and girls will continue to develop concepts and skills of first hitting a ball from a coach and transition into hitting a ball from a kid pitcher. They will develop advanced skills regarding handeye coordination for hitting a ball in motion, along with continuation of developing concepts and skills of catching, throwing, and running the bases in a semi-competitive instructional league. Additionally, they will learn the very basics of pitching a ball.

Fall Ball: Ages 5–8 Fall Ball is meant for girls and boys ages 5–8. It is a noncompetitive, developmental league that is meant to provide a non-competitive environment for baseball skills development. Who are we? Pop Warner Little Scholars is an international program operated for the benefit of its youthful participants. Since 1929, the program philosophy has been: academics and athletes go hand in hand. Pop Warner’s commitment to academics is what separates the program from other youth sports around the world. Every year, Pop Warner recognizes many Trojan participants for their academic accomplishments. BOLINGBROOK BUCCANEERS YOUTH FOOTBALL AND CHEER www.bolingbrookbucs.org The Bolingbrook Buccaneers Football and Cheer is the #1 age based youth travel program in the area. We are the largest football and cheer program in the surrounding area. We offer the most affordable football and cheer activities for ages 5–13 years old year round. We allow kids the opportunity to interact and build bonds with other youths locally and nationally. Our volunteers bring a wealth of experience and a sense of caring allowing our student athletes to learn the fundamentals of their respective sport, teamwork and sportsmanship in a safe atmosphere. We have proudly developed football players and cheerleaders for their local high school. Practices are conducted at Bulldog Park (Bolingbrook). All regular season home games are held at Bolingbrook High School. During the regular season, away games will be played within the Chicagoland area. In-House Programs (Basketball, Slow Pitch Softball, & Volleyball)

Our in-house programs are designed to be instructional, slightly competitive and tons of fun! Everyone plays! All practices and games take place in Bolingbrook facilities (schools, park district gymnasiums and Bulldog Park). Our in-house programs are a great place for girls to start in the sport, no matter what age she is! Basketball (winter) and volleyball (fall) are open to all girls grades 3 through 12, while our slow pitch softball (spring) program is open to all girls grades K through 12. Fastpitch Softball Panthers Fastpitch offers spring travel and fall ball in-house leagues. Our fastpitch softball league welcomes all girls ages 6–18 (age as of January 1st). Players are grouped by 8U, 10U, 12U and 16/18U. Tryouts for the spring travel leagues begin in July as well as registration for Fall Ball. Fall Ball in-house teams MUST HAVE a minimum of 10 players in order to create a team. Spring registration is open online at bybl.org starting in December/January. Season will start in mid-April and end early to mid-July. All divisions are scheduled a minimum of 10–12 games and then play-offs. All games are played at Indian Boundary. No volunteer fees or fundraising are required. Division assignments are determined by player’s age as of April 30, 2024. More information can be found at www.bybl.org. Colt & Palomino Divisions

Registration is open online at bybl.org. Season will start in mid to late May 2024 and run until late July/early August 2024. These divisions will play games on weekdays and weekends but not more than 2 games a week weather permitting. Games are played at Indian Boundary and other SWILA communities in the Southwest Suburbs. Come be a part of the most popular sport in the world! Whether you are looking for in-house soccer (recreational) or high-level competitive soccer (travel), the Bolingbrook Soccer Club has a program for you. We offer 3 recreational seasons for players aged 4–18, while our travel program is year-round for players aged 7–19. Both programs are open to girls and boys. RECREATIONAL Our recreational in-house program is designed to introduce players to the game of soccer at the younger ages with increased expectations and training as the players get older. We have various rules of play aimed at evenly distributing playing time, positional work, and fair play. Some important overview information on our in-house program is noted in the chart below. Our spring cost (including fees) is $118 for residents and $125 for non-residents. Registration is available online through our website.

TRAVEL BSC is very proud of our competitive travel program featuring over 30 teams (girls and boys), including teams competing in Premiership and USSF Regional League levels. Our focus is on player development. We provide certified coaches, professional training and are often able to field multiple teams per age group for boys and girls, allowing players to play at their appropriate skill level. The primary tryout season is in May for the following season of play beginning in the summer. However, we do accept tryouts throughout the year. PARK PERMITS

Reserve your picnic area for your next social gathering by obtaining a park permit. When you obtain a permit we take extra care to make sure the area you reserved is clean and orderly. If another group is in your spot, by authority of the permit, they must relinquish the site to you. Permits are required for groups of 15 or more.

Memorial Tree and Bench Program

Sites are based on size and or the amenities of the park. We will continue to have a $50 refundable security deposit for all park permits. This is in addition to the fees listed for the parks below. Bolingbrook Crime Stoppers has been serving the community since 2006. In those years over 437 tips have been received as citizens have anonymously gotten involved in reducing crime in the Bolingbrook community. You can make Bolingbrook a better place to live by offering anonymous tips about crimes of which you are aware. Rewards of up to $1000 are given to anonymous tipsters, when arrests are made.
