message from the president

Welcome to Adelaide Bowling Club

On behalf of the Board of World Bowls I would like to warmly welcome the players, supporters and officials to the 2019 World Singles Champion of Champions. It is being staged at Adelaide Bowling Club, and I am delighted that our popular world event will benefit from being hosted at such a magnificent and prestigious club. Australia has a tremendous reputation for running and promoting top quality tournaments and I am sure it will be thoroughly enjoyed by visiting players, their supporters and local bowlers alike.

On behalf of the Board, staff and members of Adelaide Bowling Club, it gives me great pleasure to welcome all competitors and spectators to our venue for the staging of the 2019 World Singles Champion of Champions event.

As with all great sporting events there are many people who work tirelessly to make the occasion successful. I would like to thank President John Higgins and his Organising Committee, Bowls South Australia, Bowls Australia and all who have been involved in making this event the great success we are confident it will be. To the players and accompanying spectators I am absolutely sure too that you will thoroughly enjoy your visit to Adelaide Bowling Club. I also hope you have the time to explore the many famous sights of Adelaide and surrounding area. In conclusion, I wish everyone a very enjoyable tournament, and may the skills and enthusiasm of the talented players on show make it a memorable one for all involved. World Bowls is indeed proud to stage such prestigious events, which can not only fulfil the dreams of the world’s aspiring bowlers, but also raise the profile and awareness of our great sport. I wish you all every success. JOHN BELL President of World Bowls

The World Singles Champion of Champions event is an exciting opportunity to showcase our proud club on the world stage, and to the ~50 international competitors who will represent their nations with distinction over the course of the week. I’d like to publicly thank World Bowls and Bowls Australia for selecting Adelaide Bowling Club as the host venue for this coveted event in 2019 and 2020, and acknowledge the contribution they will both make to the staging of this event. I’d also like to take this opportunity to express my thanks to the board, staff, committees, members and volunteers of Adelaide Bowling Club for their tireless work in ensuring the success of this event and the reputation of the club as a deliverer of a world-class international competition. I trust you will all enjoy your stay in Adelaide and get to explore many of the city’s diverse tourism experiences and attractions on offer during your visit. Good luck to all competitors.
