The Board and staff of Bowls Australia warmly welcome back all participants and spectators to the City of Gold Coast for the $350,000, 15-day festival of bowls that is the Australian Open.
The Australian Open, now in its 21st year, has certainly become the nation's marquee bowls event and indeed the world's richest open bowls event, with a field boasting over 3,600 competitors, ranging from club-level bowlers to world champions, all competing in an open draw.
Bowls Australia expresses sincere thanks to the 15 Gold Coast clubs and their members for contributing in hosting this prestigious event. As the Australian Open grows each year, so does the workforce, who do a spectacular job behind the scenes preparing their facilities and magnificent greens to share with our competitors.
To the officials and volunteers who will be working tirelessly over the next fortnight, we thank you for your invaluable services and contribution to the sport of bowls and trust you will enjoy your involvement and the opportunity to be close to the action.
