STARS ALIGN FOR ANOTHER CLASSIC ON THE CARPET
IELD IELD IMPRESSIVE IMPRESSIVEFIELD FIELD
Australia's best indoor bowlers will converge on Club Tweed as the nation's premier indoor singles event returns, with the 2026 Australian Indoor Championships set to deliver another week of world-class competition.
CARPET CARP TOTO COLLIDE COLLIDE ONON THE THE
With Commonwealth Games representatives, Australian champions, former winners and rising stars all featuring, the race for the coveted men's and women's titles is shaping as one of the strongest in recent years.
As per tradition, the defending champion in each respective draw receives the top seeding should they elect to compete, with the Australian Open singles champion to be seeded second if entered. The remaining seedings are determined by the Bowls Australia National Rankings at the time of the draw announcement. Fresh from representing Australia at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, Kelsey Cottrell headlines the women's field as the top seed. Olivia Cartwright occupies the second seeding, with Australian Open champion and 2014 Australian Indoor champion Jamie-Lee Worsnop not contesting this year's event. Former semifinalist and Jackaroo Brianna Smith is seeded third, while Victoria's Brooke Edwards sits fourth. Former champion Natasha Van Eldik returns looking to add a second Australian Indoor crown to the title she claimed in 2016, while 2024 runner-up Chloe Stewart will enjoy home-green advantage as she looks to go one better at Club Tweed. Victoria's Olivia Slade and Western Australia's Deb Saunders complete the seeded players, while 2023 champion Samantha Atkinson, Reese Finn-Young, emerging Jackaroo Sophie Kurzman, Tris Doolan and national feeder squad member Samantha Noronha add further depth to an exceptionally strong field. The men's championship is equally compelling, with Australian Open champion and 2018 winner Aaron Teys entering as the top seed after another season among Australia's leading performers. With reigning champion Corey Wedlock opting not to defend his title, in-form Tasmanian Codi Marshall rises to the second seeding. Pialba's Mark Armstrong, Jackaroo Ben Twist, Victorian Matthew O'Brien, former Jackaroo Matt Lucas, Clayton Holcombe and 2025 semifinalist Michael Stevenson complete the seeded players. Lurking throughout the draw are proven performers including 2024 champion and 2025 runner-up Jack McShane, Jackaroo Nick Cahill, exciting young Victorian Travis Moran and New Zealand international Sheldon Bagrie-Howley, ensuring there will be no shortage of genuine title contenders. With national pride, ranking points and one of Australia's most prestigious indoor titles on the line, fans can once again expect a week of high-quality competition on the famous Club Tweed carpet as the country's finest battle to be crowned Australian Indoor champion.
