BOWEN COUPLE BIDS FAREWELL
PAGE 5
GO CANADA GO! Some of the most boisterous fans at the Pub for Canada’s final World Cup Group Stage game on Wednesday were also the youngest. Stanley, Jake, William & Taylor dipped into an unlimited cheering reserve throughout the match, which would determine the winner of Group B and was viewed by a packed house. The host side mounted a furious comeback after falling behind two goals, but despite some prime chances at the end they fell just short as Switzerland took the game 2-1, and with it the group. It was still great news for Canada though as they finished second in the group and with it earned a trip to their first ever Knockout Stages at the tournament. They’ll be back on the field soon too - Canada play the first Round of 32 game this Sunday, June 28 at Noon (their opponent will be decided in the June 24 night games). Make sure you’ve got a plan to cheer on the team! / Alex Kurial photo pm en 12-3 o p u s eE 28 • H o. JUN
