area history and analysis oostenburgervaart has a historical association with production. previously areas such as this and ndsm where home to amsterdams ship building industry. now they serve a much more dynamic and less industrious purpose. artists, craftsmen, small businesses and studios thrive in such places. they have become social hubs based around creative industries.

permenant places for temporary situations the use of these historic spaces is experimental, dynamic and uses the ingenuity of the people using them to create flexible and sustainable conditions. there is plenty of repurposing of materials such as palettes and cable reels to create furniture. a wide array of mismatched recycled furniture and a wide range of people interacting with the spaces creates a very lively and dynamic place. A series of small interventions.

collecting and recycling the prefab concrete slabs to provide a flexible finish that can be removed to maintain and change the infrastructure underneath

The next step is to create a matrix for temporary buildings . creating a raft foundation that allows buildings to be constructed anywhere on the site by fixing themselves onto the foundation

The project begins with the construction of the train bailer on the edge of the dijk. some of the 250 units of ‘Plan V’ TRains that are stored there can begin to be converted or bailed into aluminium to generate funds for the project
