DV8 Distillery hosts techno-focused dance party to raise funds for displaced Ukrainian women and children
L
ike most adults, Olga Kozhar spends her days at work and carves out time for her hobbies when she can. Her work involves post-doctoral research in microbiology and genetics at Colorado State University, and her hobbies include making music and DJing. But on Feb. 24, Kozhar’s life changed forever. Now she starts every day by checking in with her family in Ukraine and reading the latest updates from the frontlines. Russia’s invasion has upset the lives of millions of Ukrainians, including those abroad. “It’s impossible to switch it off or take a break, because my people are there,” Kozhar says. Ukrainian revolution and subsequent war along the border with Russia. She has effort in Ukraine by donating to grassroots charities and fundraisers, like Dance for Ukraine. Organized by Kozhar, Dance for Ukraine will take place at Boulder’s DV8

Brandon Brown, and desvu back-to-back with lovw. Going about life while her country is at war hasn’t been easy for Kozhar. “When the war started, I wasn’t really able to work for a month. I was going to work and doing some things, but my mind was not there.” While she worries about her parents’ safety every day, she respects their decision to stay in Ukraine: It’s their home and they don’t want to leave it behind.
