TRY THIS WEEK: Gyro @ That One Restaurant on the Hill
That One Restaurant on the Hill understands that, sometimes, being understated can make you stand out from the crowd. From its name to its menu of well-executed, casual Middle Eastern fare, That One Restaurant underpromises and overdelivers. We experienced this in the humble gyro — That One Restaurant’s take featured well-spiced and tender chunks of beef and lamb, served in a chewy pita with irresistible hot sauce and bright, fresh veggies.

Drink this: 12Degree Brewing’s Ready to Mingle
Louisville’s Main Street is now a place where no cars go. Barriers have been erected, coffee shops, breweries and restaurants have cordoned off sections, and al fresco dining welcomes the hungry and the thirsty. Is there a beer more appropriately named than Ready to Mingle? It’s 12Degree Brewing’s version of a Belgian single — a tamer and more sessionable version of an Abbey dubbel. Clocking in at 5% alcohol by volume and a refreshing 15 IBUs, Ready to Mingle is bright and effervescent, with bready characteristics and a dollop of rosemary. It goes awfully well with 12Degree’s twice-cooked frites and an afternoon shower storm.

Hawaiian rum comes to Colorado
Hot weather and rum drinks — a match made in heaven. Or Hawaii. Good thing then that Kōloa Rum Company recently announced it will begin distributing its unique, Hawaiian rums and ready-to- drink cocktails in Colorado. Kōloa distills seven varieties of island rum, including white, gold, dark, spiced, coconut, coffee and aged rums. For the time being, you’ll have to venture outside of Boulder County to get your hands on these unique spirits — Quail Creek Wine & Spirits in Broomfield is the closest place to buy it.
