n April 1, 1973, Gary Neptune first opened the doors to his little shop in the university town of Boulder, Colorado. In the beginning, the shop primarily repaired climbing and ski boots, but over the years it grew into a full service outdoor specialty shop. In January, 2013, Gary decided it was time to ski and climb a bit more, and sold Neptune Mountaineering to Backwoods Retail, Inc, an Austin, Texas, based, family-owned regional chain of outdoor stores. The staff at Neptune continue to seek out perfect rock, fresh snow and adventures all around the world. An easy going and informal approach attracted many fellow enthusiasts over the years, and that culture continues. Fifty years is a long time for any community activity to last, and we invite everyone to celebrate this marvelous milestone. All ticket sales go to local non-profits who work with people affected by homelessness VIP Night on Dec. 3 includes an early meal, door prizes and tickets for the first glimpse to see each home that evening or to view them through Saturday. VIP restaurants (reservations required) are Cheese Importers, The Dickens, Martinis Bistro, The Roost and Tortugas. Tickets are $35 each. Tour tickets for Friday and Saturday are $15 in advance, $20 on tour days. UCC-Longmont (Ninth and Francis) will host a meal of soup and bread included with your ticket.
