A WELCOME FROM THE SCHOOL OF THEATRE DIRECTOR Dear Friends, I am so pleased to welcome you to this produc on of Harold Pinter’s The Hothouse, the culmina ng thesis work of third-year MFA Direc ng candidate Tim Spears. A long- me member of the Boston University School of Theatre community, Tim has dis nguished himself as a student, staff member, teacher, actor, director, and Boston University alumnus. He received his BFA in Ac ng from Boston University in 2006. He later served as the School of Theatre’s 855 Produc on Manager from 2007–2013, and he s ll serves as the founding Web Master and Graphic Designer for the School’s professional extension, the Boston Center for American Performance. In 2013, we welcomed Tim into our MFA program where he has thrived as an educator (teaching Speech Communica ons, Ac ng, Drama c Literature, and Theatre Ensemble), an actor (receiving an IRNE award nomina on for his work in the one-man show House), and as a director. In recogni on of his many talents, the BU faculty has twice nominated Tim for the pres gious Esther B. and Albert S. Kahn Career Entry Award.

Please join me in congratula ng Tim on his many accomplishments and his varied contribu ons to the School of Theatre, both on the stage and in the classroom. We thank him for his years with us, and we wish him the very best as he con nues his ar s c journey.

ABOUT THE COMPANY Tim Spears’ previous direc ng credits include: The Adding Machine, By the Bog of Cats, A er Miss Julie, The House of Bernarda Alba, Pinter: Theatre of Menace, This Subtle Machine (Boston University), Memory of Water, Savage/Love (S.T.A.M.P.), and The House of All Alone (Boston Playwrights’ Theatre’s 10 Minute Play Fes val). He is an MFA Direc ng candidate (CFA'16) at Boston University College of Fine Arts School of Theatre where he also earned his BFA in Ac ng (CFA’06).

Aubrey Dube's sound design credits include Vinegar Tom, Monster, Serious Money, Pentecost, Big Love, The Imaginary Invalid, In the Next Room…, Man of La Mancha, Delirium, and A Taste of Honey.

Ben Freche e is a second-year graduate student in the Technical Produc on MFA program. He is excited to be involved in his fourth BU show. Recent projects at BU include A Taste of Honey, The Adding Machine, Krapp’s Last Tape, and The Dumbwaiter. In addi on to freelance technical work in the Boston area, Ben has held the posi on of Technical Director at mul ple summer theaters throughout New England, most recently at the Cape Playhouse in Dennis, Massachuse s, and Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater in Wellfleet, Massachuse s.

Lindy Lo on is a senior Stage Management major at Boston University. Credits include A Confederacy of Dunces (Hun ngton Theatre Company), Paradise Blue and A Great Wilderness (Williamstown Theatre Fes val), and The Human Comedy, Misalliance, and The Traveling Lady (BU CFA), as well as The Seven Deadly Sins and Dark Sisters (BU Opera Ins tute).

Dongyi Ma is a second-year graduate student majoring in Produc on Management. Credits include Carmen (Na onal Centre for the Performing Arts), Return On a Snowy Night (NCPA), La Tragédie de Carmen (Boston University), Broken (BU), Wit (BU), The Cripple of Inishmaan (BU), and A Taste of Honey (Boston Center for American Performance).

Phoebe Ping, who is originally from San Diego, California, is in her second year as a Costume Design graduate student. This is the second show she has ever designed, and she is honored and excited to share this with The Hothouse team.

Baron E. Pugh is a second-year Scenic Design MFA candidate from Northern Virginia. Recent credits include: Ghosts, The Serpent, The Merchant of Venice, and La Tragédie de Carmen (Boston University); Triumph of Love and Romeo & Juliet (Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey’s Next Stage Ensemble); and The Marriage of Figaro and The Elephant Man (George Mason University).

Gifford Williams is a first-year graduate student at BU. He has designed throughout New York City, at Walkerspace, The Wild Project, Dixon Place, Lehman College, and more. He was also the Master Electrician at the Stella Adler Studio of Ac ng and on the stage crew of Sleep No More. giffordwilliams.com Aristotelis Ambatzidis is thrilled to be here. As a BU senior Theatre Arts major, Aristotelis has had the privilege of contribu ng to some beau ful processes.

Credits include Delirium (Mitya), The Effect (Tristan), Machinal (Judge & Second Man), and The Comedy of Errors (An pholus of Syracuse). He would like to thank his family and friends, who mean everything to him.

Mackenzie Cala is excited to be joining the cast of The Hothouse for her first show with Boston University School of Theatre. She is a sophomore pursuing a BFA in Theatre Arts as well as a minor in Arts Leadership and a concentra on in Musical Theatre. Some of her favorite credits include Natalie (Next To Normal), Natalie (All Shook Up), and Li le Sally (Urinetown). She would like to thank her family back in California along with the new SOT family she has come to love here in Boston.

Tessa Kraemer is happy to call The Hothouse her first produc on at Boston University. She is currently a sophomore Ac ng major in the School of Theatre.

She would like to thank the faculty and staff for giving her this opportunity.

She would also like to thank her parents, who have been her cheerleaders and biggest fans. She is excited to share the space with you today and hopes that you all enjoy The Hothouse by Harold Pinter.

Kiera Muckenhirn, a na ve of Bal more, Maryland, will graduate in May with a BFA in Theatre Arts. While primarily iden fying as an actor, Kiera has a passion for wri ng and direc ng, as well as a deep love of educa on and learning.

She spent the spring of 2015 studying at the Ins tute of Anthropology at the University of Copenhagen. Kiera is excited to be a part of this wonderful team.

Conor Pro is a senior Theatre Arts major from West Har ord, Connec cut.

While at Boston University he has been in such produc ons as The Human Comedy (Ulysses), The Cripple of Inishmaan (Cripple Billy), and most recently Ghosts (Oswald). He would like to extend a big “thank you” to The Hothouse team, as well as to his parents for their love and support.

Ben Salus recently completed a semester at LAMDA, and in May, he will graduate from BU with a BFA in Theatre Arts. Regional: Joly in Les Misérables (Cortland Repertory Theatre), Quarterback/Dancer in Colossal (Company One), Tybalt in Romeo vs. Juliet (Anthem Theatre Co.), and Wladek in Our Class (Boston Center for American Performance). BU: Tom Whitmore in The Whitmores (new play; ArtsImpulse–Best Student Actor nomina on).

Ian Wallace is excited to make his Boston University debut in The Hothouse.

He would like to thank the faculty and staff of BU, and he is grateful for the con nued support of his family because without them, he wouldn't be on this stage today. The Hothouse is one hell of a trip and he hopes you enjoy the ride.
