We are pleased to share with you Prometheus Bound—the culmina ng thesis work of MFA Direc ng student Jonathan Solari—and Parade, the second produc on sponsored in part by the newly formed Stewart F. Lane and Bonnie Comley Musical Theatre Fund.

I want to commend Jonathan Solari for his work on Prometheus Bound and also for his use of the theatre arts to draw a en on to social issues. Please join me in celebra ng Jonathan’s career at Boston University and his desire to ac vate change in our world. Also of note, our produc on of Parade features the thesis work of MFA Theatre Educa on candidate Ma hew Stern. Ma hew has provided music direc on for many SOT musicals since first joining the SOT community as Music Director for Sondheim’s Merrily We Roll Along in 2010.

ABOUT THE COMPANY Jonathan Solari is a third-year MFA Direc ng candidate at Boston University. He has directed produc ons in the gardens of Istanbul, the hospitals of Brooklyn, the poisoned rivers of West Virginia, the abandoned houses of Minsk, the bars of Prague, and the major theaters of New York City. Prometheus Bound is his thesis produc on.

Jonathan Berg-Einhorn is a senior Scenic and Costume Design major. Design credits include Ghosts, The Love of the Nigh ngale, The Seven Deadly Sins, The Cripple of Inishmaan, Endgame, and The Memory of Water.

Aubrey Dube is a first-year graduate student studying Sound Design. His sound design credits include Vinegar Tom, Monster, Serious Money, Pentecost, Big Love, The Imaginary Invalid, In the Next Room, Man of La Mancha, Delirium, A Taste of Honey, and The Hothouse.

Rachael Hasse is a first-year graduate student in Produc on Management.

Rachael hails from West Chicago, Illinois, and proudly holds a BFA from Ithaca College. Her credits include Produc on Manager at Hope Summer Repertory Theatre, Scene Shop Supervisor at Illinois State University, and Shop Foreman at Pennsylvania Shakespeare Fes val.

Lindy Lo on is incredibly grateful for the past four years with the School of Theatre, especially her Design & Produc on Class of 2016. Her recent BU credits include The Hothouse and The Seven Deadly Sins. Full credits can be found at lindylo on.com.

Gifford Williams is a first-year MFA candidate at BU studying Ligh ng Design.

He has designed throughout New York City, was the Master Electrician at the Stella Adler Studio of Ac ng, an electrician with the Ligh ng Syndicate, and on the stage crew of Sleep No More. giffordwilliams.com Forrest J. Wood is a proud New Yorker, finishing his senior year at BU. He has professional carpentry experience with The Cape Playhouse, Hun ngton Theatre Company, American Repertory Theater, and Sydney Theatre Company.

A er gradua on, Forrest intends to launch his company, Manha an Built.

Bori Yoon is a third-year MFA Scenic Design major at BU and originally from South Korea. Her recent credits include scenic design for The Duchess of Malfi, The Cripple of Inishmaan, Machinal, and Our Class, and assistant scenic design for King Lear (Commonwealth Shakespeare Company), Uncle Jack (Boston Center for American Performance and Boston Playwrights’ Theatre), The Human Comedy, A Delicate Balance, and Siren Song. She would love to thank her family for their endless love and support.

Kaidie Carr is a senior Ac ng major and Prometheus Bound will be her last show at BU. Just last quarter, she completed her thesis and has been in other produc ons such as Dancing at Lughnasa. Kaidie wishes the best of fortunes for her fellow seniors. How the me has flown by.

Eli Raskin is a performer/writer from Orange County, California. Eli is a member of Boston University’s improvisa on troupe, Spon Com, and has worked at MCI Norfolk to bring theatre to men in the maximum security prison. His credits include Dancing at Lughnasa, Water by the Spoonful, and Our Class. Eli thanks his family and his pooch.

ABOUT THE AUTHORS Alfred Uhry has the dis nguishing honor of being the only American writer to win a Pulitzer Prize, an Oscar award, and a Tony award. A graduate of Brown University, Uhry le his na ve Atlanta for the bright lights of New York City as a newlywed in 1959 to become a lyricist. Struggling to make ends meet for almost twenty years, he hit success in 1976 with The Robber Bridegroom—a bawdy Southern fairy tale based on a Eudora Welty story for which he received a Tony Award nomina on for Best Book of a Musical. (The Tony went to the writers of A Chorus Line.) Ten years later he wrote his first play, the smash hit, Pulitzer Prize-winning Driving Miss Daisy. He would later win an Oscar for the movie adapta on starring Jessica Tandy and Morgan Freeman. Soon a er, the Olympic Games' Cultural Olympiad commissioned Uhry to write a play for the Summer 1996 Olympics in his hometown of Atlanta. Thus the Tony Awardwinning Last Night of Ballyhoo was born. Known for wri ng charming, engaging yet somewhat quirky Southern characters, Mr. Uhry's latest endeavor, Parade is a darker look at the nuances and history of the South. This chilling true-life story of the lynching of Leo Frank won a second Tony award for Mr. Uhry as Best Book of a Musical in 1999.

Jason Robert Brown is the ul mate mul -hyphenate—an equally skilled composer, lyricist, conductor, arranger, orchestrator, director, and performer— best known for his dazzling scores to several of the most renowned musicals of his genera on, including the recently revived The Last Five Years, his debut song cycle Songs for a New World, and the seminal Parade, for which he won the 1999 Tony Award for Best Score. Jason Robert Brown has been hailed as "one of Broadway's smartest and most sophis cated songwriters since Stephen Sondheim" (Philadelphia Inquirer), and his "extraordinary, jubilant theater music" (Chicago Tribune) has been heard all over the world, whether in one of the hundreds of produc ons of his musicals every year or in his own incendiary live performances. The New York Times refers to Jason as "a leading member of a new genera on of composers who embody high hopes for the American musical." He was awarded two Tony Awards for wri ng and orchestra ng The Bridges of Madison County, a musical adapted with Marsha Norman from the bestselling novel, directed by Bartle Sher and starring Kelli O'Hara and Steven Pasquale. Honeymoon in Vegas, based on Andrew Bergman's film, opened on Broadway to rave reviews, including a review for Jason, comparing him in the New York Times favorably to Rodgers and Hammerstein. A film version of his epochal Off-Broadway musical The Last Five Years starred Anna Kendrick and Jeremy Jordan and was directed by Richard LaGravenese. His major musicals as composer and lyricist include: 13, wri en with Robert Horn and Dan Elish, which began its life in Los Angeles in 2007 and opened on Broadway in 2008 (and was subsequently directed by the composer for its West End premiere in 2012); The Last Five Years, which was cited as one of Time Magazine's 10 Best of 2001 and won Drama Desk Awards for Best Music and Best Lyrics (and was subsequently directed by the composer in its record-breaking Off-Broadway run at Second Stage Theatre in 2013); Parade, wri en with Alfred Uhry and directed by Harold Prince, which premiered at Lincoln Center Theatre in 1998, and subsequently won both the Drama Desk and New York Drama Cri cs' Circle Awards for Best New Musical, as well as garnering Jason the Tony Award for Original Score; and Songs for a New World, a theatrical song cycle directed

by Daisy Prince, which played Off-Broadway in 1995, and has since been seen in hundreds of produc ons around the world. Parade was also the subject of a major revival directed by Rob Ashford, first at London's Donmar Warehouse and then at the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles. His orchestral adapta on of E.B. White's novel The Trumpet of the Swan premiered at the Kennedy Center with John Lithgow and the Na onal Symphony Orchestra, and the CD was released on PS Classics. Future projects include a new chamber musical created with Daisy Prince and Jonathan Marc Sherman called The Connector, an un tled new piece created with Claudia Shear and Casey Nicholaw, and a new solo album released in 2015. Jason is the winner of the 2002 Kleban Award for Outstanding Lyrics and the 1996 Gilman & Gonzalez-Falla Founda on Award for Musical Theatre. Jason's songs, including the cabaret standard "Stars and the Moon," have been performed and recorded by Audra McDonald, Billy Porter, Be y Buckley, Karen Akers, Renée Fleming, Philip Quast, Jon Hendricks and many others, and his song "Someone to Fall Back On" was featured in the Walden Media film, Bandslam. As a soloist or with his band The Caucasian Rhythm Kings, Jason has performed sold-out concerts around the world. His first solo album, Wearing Someone Else's Clothes, was named one of Amazon.com's best of 2005, and is available from Sh-K-Boom Records. His collabora on with singer Lauren Kennedy, Songs of Jason Robert Brown, is available on PS Classics. Jason's piano sonata, “Mr. Broadway” was commissioned and premiered by Anthony De Mare at Carnegie Hall. Jason is also the composer of the incidental music for David Lindsay-Abaire’s Kimberly Akimbo and Fuddy Meers, Marsha Norman’s Last Dance, David Marshall Grant’s Current Events, Kenneth Lonergan’s The Waverly Gallery, and the Irish Repertory Theater’s produc on of Long Day’s Journey Into Night, and he was a Tony Award nominee for his contribu ons to the score of Urban Cowboy the Musical. He has also contributed music to the hit Nickelodeon television series, “The Wonder Pets.” His scores are published by Hal Leonard. Jason currently teaches musical theater performance and composi on at the USC School of Drama c Arts. For the new musical Prince of Broadway, a celebra on of the career of Harold Prince, Jason will be serving as the musical supervisor and arranger. Other recent New York credits as conductor and arranger include Urban Cowboy the Musical on Broadway; Oliver Golds ck’s play, Dinah Was, directed by David Petrarca, at the Gramercy Theatre and on na onal tour; and William Finn’s A New Brain, directed by Graciela Daniele, at Lincoln Center Theater. Jason was the musical director of the pop vocal group, The Tonics, with whom he performed at the 1992 tribute to Stephen Sondheim at Carnegie Hall (recorded by RCA Victor); he was the conductor and orchestrator of Yoko Ono’s musical, New York Rock, at the WPA Theatre (on Capitol Records); and he orchestrated Andrew Lippa’s john and jen, Off-Broadway at Lamb’s Theatre (Varese Sarabande). In 1994, Jason was the conductor and arranger of Michael John LaChiusa’s The Petrified Prince, directed by Harold Prince, at the Public Theatre. Addi onally, Jason served as the orchestrator and arranger of Charles Strouse and Lee Adams’s score for a proposed musical of Star Wars. Jason also took over as musical director for the Off-Broadway hit When Pigs Fly. Jason has conducted and created arrangements and orchestra ons for Liza Minnelli, John Pizzarelli, Tovah Feldshuh, and Laurie Beechman, among many others. Jason studied composi on at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY, with Samuel Adler, Christopher Rouse, and Joseph Schwantner. ABOUT THE COMPANY Clay Hopper was formerly the Associate Ar s c Director of Olney Theatre Center and Director of both the Na onal Players and the Summer Shakespeare Fes val at OTC. Direc ng credits include Two Gentlemen of Verona, Twel h Night, The Tempest, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Romeo and Juliet, and Amadeus. Hopper also directed Farragut North and Triumph of Love on OTC’s main stage and Call of the Wild, a musical adapta on of Jack London’s novel by Jon Lipsky, first as a workshop at BU, then as a touring produc on for The Na onal Players, culmina ng in the world premiere on OTC’s main stage in 2009. In 2002, Hopper founded and produced a new play series called New Works/A er Hours at Lincoln Center Ins tute’s Clarke Studio Theatre.

Ma hew Stern is comple ng an MFA in Theatre Educa on at BU. He has been music direc ng theatre in the Boston area for the past ten years, and has over 100 produc ons to his credit. She has served as the resident choreographer and directed several produc ons at Summer Repertory Theatre in Northern California, including Tartuffe, Dirty Ro en Scoundrels, Hatcher’s Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, La Cage Aux Folles, 9 to 5, South Pacific, The Wedding Singer, Hairspray, and Mame. Other choreographic and direc ng credits include Rag me, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Damn Yankees, Pippin, A Chorus Line, The Drowsy Chaperone, In the Heights, and West Side Story. Anne will return to CA this summer to direct and choreograph Nice Work if You Can Get It, and choreograph Merrily We Roll Along.

Nicole Angell is a senior Costume Design student at Boston University. She is honored to have a show as beau ful and important as Parade as her final show at BU. She would like to thank her family for all of their undying love and support and for giving her the opportunity to a end such an amazing school.

Molly Block is thrilled to be a part of the Parade team as the Technical Director.

Her past experiences at BU include Angels of America (opera), In the Next Room, or the vibrator play, and The Love of the Nigh ngale. She would like to thank her incredible family and wonderful professors for their love and support.

Arianna Knox is pleased to present her final set design as a BU graduate student. Recent credits: A Taste of Honey, The Housekeeper, Dames at Sea, In the Next Room…, and Gross Indecency. She thanks her design team and director who were an integral part of her design process, as well as her suppor ve fiancé, who spent many late nights building model pieces and moving props.

Dongyi Ma is a second-year graduate student major in Produc on Management. Her credits include Carmen (Na onal Centre for the Performing Arts), Return On a Snowy Night (NCPA), La Tragèdie de Carmen (Boston University), Broken (BU @Play Fes val), Wit (BCAP), The Cripple of Inishmaan (BU), and A Taste of Honey (BCAP), The Hothouse (BU).

J. Collin Priddy-Barnum is a first-year Sound Design MFA student with Boston University. Coming to Boston by way of New York, he is very excited to be part of the Boston theatrical network. He is happy to be working on Parade, and he is looks forward to con nuing to work on produc ons in the future.

Brian M. Robillard is a senior BFA Stage Management student at BU. Recent credits include A Li le Night Music (Hun ngton Theatre Company), Bal more (New Rep/BCAP), Don Giovanni, Siren Song (BU Opera Ins tute), Rosmersholm, Water by the Spoonful, In the Next Room…, The Bagman, Big Love, Curse of the Starving Class, and Anne Boleyn (BU CFA).

Paul Timmel is a second-year Ligh ng Design MFA candidate at BU. His past designs at BU include, most recently, the Opera Ins tute’s Così fan Tu e, BCAP’s produc ons of Exposed and Uncle Jack, and the 2014 Fringe Fes val’s La Tragèdie de Carmen, as well as Water by the Spoonful and Sight Unseen. Paul completed his bachelor’s degree at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Bailie de Lacy is thrilled to be given the opportunity to play Lucille as her final role at BU. Credits include Sinadab in La Zobeide, Lydia in Big Love, and Philomele in The Love of the Nigh ngale. Bailie studied physical comedy and Commedia dell’Arte at Accademia dell’Arte in Italy. She thanks the cast, crew, and her family for their endless love and support throughout this journey.

Lauren Harkins hails from Manha an and will be gradua ng with her BFA in Ac ng this spring. Some of her favorite BU credits include Ghosts (Helene Alving), The Serpent (First Woman), and For Colored Girls… (Woman in Blue).

Ma hew Macca is a senior studying Ac ng and Playwri ng. Previous shows include Brighton Beach Memoirs (Playhouse on Park), and Delirium, The Bagman, and Misalliance (all at BU). His plays have been performed at the Edinburgh Fringe, Touch Me Philly, and BU, and this May one of his plays will be included in the Boston Theatre Marathon. So long BU, thanks for the ride.

Ivy Ryan will graduate with her BFA in Ac ng, and a Concentra on in Musical Theatre, in May. Last spring she trained at LAMDA. Recent credits: Rosmersholm, columbinus, By the Bog of Cats, Henry IV Part 1, boom, and Julius Caesar. Ivy cannot think of a more fulfilling way to end her BU career than singing this music with the wonderful people from Parade.

Siobhan Carroll is a senior Ac ng major. She has previously been a part of Boston University’s produc ons of: The Serpent, The Shakespeare Project, Machinal, La Zobeide, and The Comedy of Errors. She is delighted to be working with Clay Hopper, Ma Stern, and this wonderful cast and crew.

Jordan Brown is a senior Ac ng major from Cleveland, Ohio. Select BU credits include columbinus, Rosmersholm, The Duchess of Malfi, The Bagman, and Big Love. Jordan spent last year’s spring semester studying Musical Theater at the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center. He is thankful and grateful to this extraordinary team, and his family for their never-ending love.

Yoni Avi Ba at is a mul -faceted and adventurous violist. Besides playing in numerous orchestras, he has toured and recorded with VSNY, an interna onal contemporary chamber group. Yoni also plays jazz, klezmer, La n, and MiddleEastern music in groups like "Two Shekel Swing" and "Kataklezm" to name a few. yoniba at.com Javier Caballero, is a versa le freelance cellist, teacher, and arts administrator.

He has performed with Lexington Symphony, Symphony by the Sea, and New Bedford Symphony and is equally at home performing musical theater shows at Boston Lyric Stage, early music with Florida Pro Musica, and chamber music at homeless shelters with Shelter Music Boston.

Sam Chussid is honored to perform with the BU School of Theatre. He has been playing upright and electric bass for many musical theater produc ons throughout the Boston area for the past six years. Sam is also an experienced studio musician and live performer of Jazz, Classical, Soul/Funk, and other genres.

Asher Denburg is an ac ve force in greater Boston’s theater scene; he’s happy to contribute to this beau ful show (and taught himself accordion for it).

Josh Goldman has been a musician in the Boston area since 2008, playing in the orchestras for over 50 musicals during that span. He has a ended the NYU Broadway Percussion Seminar/Summit and holds his MAT in Public Elementary Educa on. In addi on to performing, Josh works at an elementary school in Newton. luciddrumming.com Tara Novak has devoted the past 15 years of her life to studying music of many genres, specializing in Irish tradi onal music, jazz, musical theatre, and classical crossover. Since 2007, Tara has been dividing her me between Ireland and the USA, comple ng a degree in orchestra on and jazz performance at Berklee College of Music in between tours. When not on the road, Tara can frequently be found playing for Broadway musicals. taranovak.com Megan Riccio, French horn, is a passionate performer and educator. She received Bachelor of Music degrees from the University of Massachuse s Amherst. Ms. Riccio also received a Master of Music in Horn from the Longy School of Music. Ms. Riccio is on the music faculty in the Lexington Public Schools.

Jeri Sykes has played woodwinds in pit orchestras for theatrical produc ons across America. She has wri en arrangements and original music for theatre, revues, and cabaret shows. She has performed in rock, jazz, and classical ensembles. Jeri is an Associate Professor at Berklee College of Music, teaching jazz arranging, musical theatre orchestra on, and technical theatre produc on.
