100% STAINLESS STEEL 250x THE CORROSION RESISTANCE OF MILD STEEL
Why has Boss launched a complete stainless steel cabin option? The trigger for us was being involved with a tender specifying a galvanised chassis, which got us thinking. We can’t offer any chassis, let alone a galvanised one, because our cabins are a monoque construction, similar to that of all modern cars which long ago ditched the old fashioned ‘chassis and body’. Why? Because monoque gives a far greater strength to weight ratio and allows stresses generated during transit to be evenly distributed throughout the structure, creating a safer more efficient whole.
So why are our competitors offering a galvanised chassis or galvanised exterior wall panels? What they’re no doubt trying to do is extend the working life of the product to increase an overall return on investment. The better a cabin stays looking, the higher the hire rate that can be charged and the more easily it can be hired out. When damage occurs to paintwork, rust patches can develop very quickly. Redressing this can be costly and time-consuming and take the cabin out of circulation for a week or two, but is important so that the rust doesn’t spread under the paintwork and become an even greater problem.
If you did still use a separate chassis, why would you galvanise it? This is unclear, because: • You can’t weld galvanised steel, so a galvanised chassis must be bolted to a non-galvanised body, creating point loads of tension that become stressed during towing. Such bolts are hard to access but if poorly maintained could fail, with catastrophic results. • When a cabin is deployed, the whole bottom rail of the cabin becomes in contact with the ground, potentially exposed to high moisture levels and susceptible to paintwork damage. Unless the entire bottom of the cabin is also galvanised then there would be no enhanced protection in use. • There is no galvanising bath big enough in the country to create a whole galvanised mobile welfare cabin and even if there was, the high temperatures involved in the process would likely lead to chronic distortion of the structure.
Does a galvanised chassis help? Not when the most significant – and certainly most visible - wear tends to be to the body, doors, window shutters and cowls rather than the chassis. Do galvanised panels help? To some degree yes, but galvanising is a surface treatment which itself can be damaged by the type of impact and use that occurs on construction sites. And as mentioned before, you can’t weld galvanised elements, so their use necessitates bolting together of the unit, creating a weaker overall structure. So boss cabins got thinking and innovating the way we do best… Everyone knows stainless steel is a premium material with exceptional longevity. We now offer our range of mobile cabins built entirely from stainless steel, allowing us to offer a 25-year anti-corrosion guarantee. No matter how damaged

the paintwork gets, the metal underneath will not rust and will not need treating, enabling you to keep your fleet looking good and generating you money.

Feedback from the launch at the Plantworx show has been quite astounding. Why? Because: • • •
This 25 year corrosion guarantee is transferable, increasing the residual value of the cabin if sold. Customers are telling us how much time and money they spend maintaining their fleets following scratches and bumps that have led to unsightly rust.
Customers understand why a monoque construction has far better structural integrity than an old-fashioned chassis/body combo. With Boss stainless steel they get a genuine way of maintaining a good looking fleet without that compromise. Customers are simply doing the sums – stainless steel saves money during ownership and creates more money when you sell the unit on – although with such a long guarantee, you may not want to part with it.

SHOW SUCCESS Plantworx 2015 proved a great show for Boss Cabins with prospective, new and regular clients visiting to examine our welfare units and discuss orders both confirmed and on the horizon. Boss stood above all their competitors with a double height stand allowing visitors a wonderful panoramic view of the Plantworx site. Our star attraction was a stainless steel cabin with its 25 year transferable anti corrosion guarantee. Our 24 foot Big Space unit, the popular hi-spec Comfort Space 7 and the robust Tool Space 16 complete with Kubota's mini-excavator stored inside it were also on display. Many deals were brokered in the sunshine at Bruntingthorpe Airfield including yet more units into Reecer Space. 'We placed an order for four more Big Space 24 units at the show' said Steve Reece. NMT No Limits Kawasaki riders, Mason Law, Jordan Weaving and Nick Anderson were also present at our stand with their bikes. Sponsored by Boss Cabins, the lads are having a fantastic 2015 competing in the British Superbikes
‘The demand for Big Space 24 units is relentless and they make a great return on the hire rate. It’s a pleasure to do business with Boss Cabins. The quality and performance of their units surpasses all others.' — STEVE REECE
Superstock 1000cc and 600cc classes with Mason Law taking five wins from six races so far this season. You can keep up to date with their season on our Twitter feed (@BossCabins) or directly via www.russoracing.co.uk. We cannot leave out our showgirls Lynsey and Liliana who worked very hard throughout the event to provide ongoing hospitality to visitors at our stand as well as keeping the smiles and freebies flowing throughout. So what's up next? It's the Showman's Show 2015 on the 21st – 22nd October at the Newbury Showground in Berkshire. As regular exhibitors at the show we’re all beginning to get excited as it is now fast approaching. We’re due to launch even more innovations to our existing range of welfare units and a completely new unit is due to be launched at the show - That's right! A new model! We look forward to seeing you there.
