TECH CAR CLUB COMPETES IN “24 HOURS OF LE MONS”

A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

Dear Tech family--

I recently have had several special opportunities that served as reminders to me of the unique family atmosphere that permeates our Tech campus and community:

• The Archdiocese annual prayer breakfast where our students did a fine job of representing Bosco Tech.

• Our recent leadership donor dinner that brought together key constituents; it was a positive blend of alumni, current parents, administrators, instructors (past and present), a few current students and even a recent graduate now at USC.

• At the “24 Hours of LeMons” car race in Buttonwillow, CA, where Tech alumni and parents supported the car club throughout the rigorous competition.

• The annual mothers’ Mass and tea that my 90-year-old mom and I enjoyed together-what a lovely day and a beautiful memory!

Over and over, I’m reminded of the unique and supportive foundation that enables our students to thrive. They are supported by caring and dedicated adults who want the best for them and are a positive presence in their lives, and for that, I am very grateful!

I invite each of you to join us at our annual State of the School update on Tues., Oct. 21, at 6 p.m. when we’ll talk about the past year’s success and the continuation accomplishment of the school’s strategic plan in the coming months.

Alwaysgratefulforourcommunity,

Memo Gutierrez Principal&TechAlumnus(AU‘83)

REPRESENTING THE TECH

The Tech was well represented at this year’s 20th Annual Los Angeles Catholic Prayer Breakfast at the Cathedral. After the Mass celebrated by Archbishop Jose H. Gomez, our students, teachers and parents enjoyed a community breakfast on the plaza and an inspirational message from The Most Reverend Joseph Espaillat.

Thanks to the following students for representing the Tech: Gianni Carrano, Sean Cortez, Ethan De La Cruz, Daniel Esqueda, Sebastian Rosas-Garcia, Gabriel Lopez, Ricardo Martinez, Ryan Muckle, and Eivar Zepeda.

AMAZING COLLEGE RESOURCE

GREAT GUIDANCE FOR EVERY STUDENT, ESPECIALLY TIMELY FOR SENIORS!

• Finding the right college for me

• Questions to ask college admissions counselors

• Application timeline for seniors

These important considerations are in the minds of current seniors and their parents everywhere. Now, thanks to Ms. Christi Gambill, Bosco Tech’s talented Director of College Advising, there’s an indepth document of such important considerations. While the 2026 CollegeSurvivalGuide is geared toward seniors, it is invaluable to underclassmen and their parents, too. Please take the time to review it with your student and, if you son is a current senior, make sure that he’s already using this invaluble resource!

SEPTEMBER STUDENTS OF THE MONTH

At the end of each month, the winners of the Student of the Month award are recognized for success in the classroom, as well as the display of outstanding characteristics as citizens of the school community. These individuals were voted on by their teachers to receive this recognition. The winners of the Students of the Month for September are:

For Grade 9: Noah Mejia

This young man started his freshman year as a straight A student on his first report card. His teachers describe that he consistently comes to class well prepared, takes his coursework seriously, and demonstrates strong study habits and academic discipline. And he scored a perfect score 100% on his first Honors Biology exam.

For Grade 10: Cristian Mojica

This sophomore is an exceptional student who consistently demonstrates kindness, respect, and a strong work ethic. He is always on top of his assignments, approaches every task with diligence, and maintains a high standard in all he does. This effort has paid off with him earning the highest grades on his first report card. And he loves to code; and is so committed to his work, he even reminds teachers of things they sometimes miss.

For Grade 11: Aditya Kumar

This junior has a strong voice in the classroom and writes with a maturity beyond his years. When asked to provide feedback to his classmate regarding a recent presentation, he was both critical and constructive in ways that were respectful, impressive, and helpful. He also has an honesty and kindness that inspires some of his teachers to be at their absolute best as instructors. He is an amazing and talented young man that is deeply committed to his education. He has the highest grade in most of his classes and brings a positive energy to all he encounters.

For Grade 12: Tristan Ting Torres

This young man has always impressed his teachers with his maturity, but that was never more on display than when he, as a TA, stepped up in assisting covering the BMET freshman class for Mr. Jenkins when he was out on an extended leave. This student’s experiences in BMET and his leadership skills in ASB, gave his teacher the confidence to let him lead lessons with the freshmen, so they would still get to do the “cool lab things” during the first tech rotation, that otherwise may have been missed. His experience in leading the lessons has given him a new perspective on education while also allowing him the opportunity to make positive connections with underclassmen.
