A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Dear Bosco Tech family--

Happy Easter to you and your family! May the Good News of Christ’s resurrection stay with us as we manage the day-to-day busyness of life!

As we move into the final weeks of the 2024-25 academic year, our students are busier than ever:

• acceptances continue to come in for our seniors from colleges and universities across the country, and even some offers from outside the U.S.

• our Admissions team is working with our incoming freshman class so they’re ready to hit the ground running in the fall

• many of our juniors are preparing for summer internship opportunities

• our underclassmen are planning for advanced coursework next fall. Recently, several of us had the powerful opportunity to see the Tech through fresh eyes when we hosted, for the first time ever, a contingent of elementary-aged girls and their families. It was enlightening and a vital reminder to me (I first came to this campus more years ago than I’d care to admit) of what a unique campus we have!

To see these families explore the technology labs with curiosity and wonder, and to hear the laughter and cheers when the rockets the girls built took off over the mall reminded me anew of the rare opportunities that the Tech offers young people. What a great environment our young people have to explore, learn, and create!

During this first of more planned campus introductions catering to a whole new audience, I met alumni--young men I taught several years ago--who are now fathers of girls interested in our preengineering and technology program. Several of these girl dads mentioned how excited they are that their daughters will have the same opportunity they had as high school students. To me, that is the highest of praise and a ringing endorsement for and of our program. It’s also a reminder of the proud and effective heritage entrusted to us!

MayGodcontinuetoblessourcampuscommunity,

Principal & Tech Alumnus (BT ‘81)

There were monetary prizes for the top four casting entries and the best in school (one prize per person). The Tech’s MSET students swept the contest! We won all top four prizes and actually have two people tied for fourth…so we overswept? Here are the results:

3rd - $350 - Jacob Rooney - Senior 4th - $250 - Mario Barbosa - Junior 4th - $250 - Hovan Kuftedjian - Junior BiS - $200 - Vincent Hernandez - Senior Additionally, some students got participation awards ($25 Starbucks gift card) that was scored based: Nathan Bobadilla - Junior Joshua Diaz - Freshman James Saballos - Senior Congratulations, MSET team!

HONOR SOCIETY MEMBERS AT MARATHON

National Spanish Honor Society (NSHS) members who volunteered at this year’s L.A. Marathon this past Saturday. This was the 40th year for the iconic run that starts at Dodger Stadium.

Our hard-working honor society members distributed runner bibs and t-shirts and assembled goodie bags for the more than 26,000 participants…and had some fun while doing it! What a great opportunity for these young scholars to contribute to the community!

FEBRUARY STUDENTS OF THE MONTH

Bosco Tech is proud to announce the February and March Students of the Month. The honor recognizes student success in the classroom, as well as celebrates the outstanding characteristics of our students as citizens of the school community. These students were voted on by their teachers to receive this recognition.

February

For Grade 9: Abraham Jette-Kouri

This freshman is an exceptionally talented young man. He freely spreads his knowledge about as he constantly works to help others. He always comes into class early with good energy and a positive attitude ready to learn. His unrelenting optimism and continued focus on academics has been inspiring, even while overcoming recent challenges.

For Grade 10: Gavin Castellanes

This young man is an incredible student who constantly works very hard at his studies. He is always polite and calm, demonstrating his maturity. He never misses any homework and literally helps everyone he can in the classroom.

For Grade 11: Raul Tapia

This junior is a ‘chugger’ -- just plug him in and he goes to work! He is always responsive to key concepts in his daily class lessons, and he has a unique ability to apply class lessons outside the classroom, in the so-called “real” world. He is not afraid to ask questions, regularly gets high scores on class tests, and despite his academic success, he always remains very humble. Despite his commitment to golf and other extra-curricular activities, and despite his being a Rams fan, he is still respectful to all around him!

For Grade 12: Anthony Villeda

This senior fosters a strong sense of community at Bosco Tech with his positive attitude and infectious energy. His generosity and enthusiasm make him a valued member of our school, and his creativity continues to bring joy to those around him. He has consistently proven his dedication towards his work and regularly provides different perspectives in every project, while always being open to feedback. His willingness to listen and help demonstrates strong leadership skills. His kindness was especially evident on Valentine’s Day when he thoughtfully shared his custom Wonder Bunny cards—his own creative design—with faculty and classmates.

Additionally, Luis was selected from among the student award recipients to speak during the Mass about the importance of service and of giving back. He also was spotlighted by the international news agency, Info Salesiana Agenzia. We’re incredibly proud of these two and how well they represent the Tech! Congratulations, gentlemen!
