Celebrating the Bosco Tech Class of 2021
Mൾඌඌൺൾ ൿඋඈආ ඍඁൾ Pඋංඇർංඉൺඅ Hello Tech family— October has been a busy month! We were very pleased to have several students back on campus, as our freshmen and juniors took their respective PSAT exams over the last two weeks. While practicing safer social distancing, classmates had the opportunity to enjoy lunch together in the shade of trees on the mall following the exams. It was great to see our students in person! Sophomores will take their PSAT in January. As we move farther into the second quarter of instruction, Tech teachers are skillfully finding more ways to help students manage distance learning. We are preparing and refining detailed plans to bring some students back on campus periodically, as COVID conditions safely permit, and will keep you informed as those plans come to fruition. I’m very proud of our Youth Ministry leadership and Mr. Rudy Herrera who are doing a great job of maintaining our tradition of monthly character assemblies. The team led the student body and faculty in an inspiring observance of Respect Life week in mid-October. Thank you, gentlemen! Finally, thank you to all parents for your amazing participation in our first Virtual Parent Teacher Conferences. We understand how different it was this year, with parents arranging their individual appointment times, but I received positive feedback regarding how convenient the scheduling went for most. I know many parents were grateful for the opportunity to speak with all their sons’ teachers during an established slot, without waiting in line. Please remember that instructors are always available to discuss your student’s progress and answer questions, via phone call, email or video conference. As we move into the season of Thankfulness, let me encourage you to join me in focusing on gratitude, in spite of current challenges, and please remember that we continue to pray for your family’s health and wellbeing! Including our silent auction items and wish lists, Bosco Tech surpassed our goal and raised more than $50,000 through this year's virtual Black and Gold Un-Gala Gala! It was a highly entertaining, one-hour experience that highlighted our mission and honored past administrator Mr. Bob Currie and Edison International. Thank you to all our donors, sponsors, volunteers, and friends for your participation and generosity. All funds raised go directly to helping hard-working students and we are truly appreciative!

Mඋ. Aඅආൺඇඓൺ ංඌ Tඈඎඋඇൺආൾඇඍ ඈൿ Rඈඌൾඌ Hൾඋඈ ඈൿ ඍඁൾ Dൺඒ The Tournament of Roses recently recognized Mr. Daniel Almanza, director of the Tech's award-winning music program, in their "Honoring Essential Workers – Hero of the Day" program--here's what they said:
Daniel Almanza (Formation Area)! Daniel is the Music Program Director at Don Bosco Technical Institute (Bosco Tech). This summer, Daniel has been working with student leaders at Don Bosco Tech to sanitize musical instruments and prepare the area so that students can safely continue to play/learn music for the virtual classes in the fall. He has also worked on a grant committee narrative for the program and recently collaborated with students to create a never before seen virtual band camp! Congratulations to Daniel for completing his 10th year at Bosco Tech! In August, parents, students, and alumni surprised him with a car parade! Daniel is a strong advocate for arts access because he has seen and experienced firsthand how arts can change lives. He is a board member for the Burbank Philharmonic and he is working with the non-profit Orchestra US to help transform arts desserts across the country. In reference to the Rose Parade, Daniel states, “I’ve attended over 30 Rose Parades, marched in the Parade as a high school student in the LAUSD All-City Band, marched in the Parade as a college student with the USC Trojan marching band, and was one of the founding staff members of the Pasadena Unified School District Honor Band who marched in the 2005 Rose Parade. I love the Parade and for me, the year doesn't start without it.” Check out the pictures of Daniel and his team of students preparing and cleaning their musical instruments. Pൺඋൾඇඍ-Tൾൺർඁൾඋ Cඈඇൿൾඋൾඇർൾඌ—2020 Sඍඒඅൾ Thank you to all parents and instructors who participated in the Tech’s first virtual Parent Teacher Conferences on Oct. 19-22. “We appreciate parents’ cooperation and flexibility as they participated in the conferences,” said Principal Jeff Krynen. “The virtual process was efficient and convenient to parents’ busy schedules.”

Seniors are reminded to dedicate sufficient time to complete their applications. SAT & ACT tests (Seniors) Although several colleges have made the SAT and ACT test optional for 2021 admissions, seniors are encouraged to register to take one of the two. Our freshmen and juniors took their respective PSAT exams over the last two weeks. While practicing safe social distancing, classmates had the opportunity to enjoy lunch together—at a safe distance—in the shade of trees on the mall following the exams. It was great to see our students in person! Sophomores will take their PSAT in January.
