Dear Bosco Tech family--
As the school year nears its end, there are so many highlights and milestones I want to share, but for the sake of brevity and newsletter page space, I will summarize just a few.
I recently had the opportunity to provide a more detailed overview of the year to our Board of Trustees and our major donors, many of whom are Tech alumni, and all of whom have a vested interest in the school’s growth and wellbeing. If you would like to read more about the overview, please click on the image below of the Spring President’s Report.
And although we’ve shared many of the year’s accomplishments with you in The Gear and on social media as they happen, bullet listing them is a valuable reminder of what a busy and successful year it’s been.
I’m confident this summer will be no different. In addition to get-ahead and remedial high school classes for our current students, our Freshman Summer Program, Tech Scholar Program for boys and girls, summer sports workshops and technology outreaches will see students and instructors on campus nearly every day for engaging interaction and in preparation for a successful fall.
Speaking of the fall, we’re looking forward to the pending start of the autumn admissions cycle for the 2026-27 academic year! When our Admissions team goes out to local elementary and middle schools, they will be able to engage with and offer our nationally unique program to girls, as well as boys, for the first time. The early feedback we’ve received has been overwhelmingly positive and we look forward to being able to offer our proven and respected program to an expanded audience.
In the coming days, we will bid Godspeed to another graduating class, and I ask that you pray with me for these young people with big dreams and great plans for their future. May they keep near to their hearts the valuable lessons learned at the Tech, the friendships formed, and the importance of foundational faith exemplified on campus.
God bless, Memo Gutierrez
President & Tech Alumnus (AU ‘83)
Bosco Tech is proud to announce the class of 2025 valedictorian and co-salutatorians. This year’s Frank R. Seaver Valedictorian honor has been awarded to senior Seth Guerrero (BMET). Dominic Diaz (CSEE) and Nathan Gonzalez (CSEE) (left to right, below) have earned Co-Salutatorian honors.
“We’re incedibly proud of Seth, Dominic and Nathan,” said Tech Principal Jeff Krynen. “Their hard work, accomplishment, and overall outstanding citizenship make them perfect candidates to represent the class of 2025. Best wishes to them and to each of their classmates.”
Seth Guerrero: Seth is in the Tech’s BMET technology. In the fall, he will attend UCLA where he will major in history while doing premed. “Something I will take from Bosco is my experience on the Track and Cross Country teams,” he shares. “The practices and meets were some of the most fun I’ve had at the Tech. I may not have been the fastest but I always tried to do my best. I really cherish those memories!”
Dominic Diaz: Representi,ng CSEE, co-salutatorian Dominic will attend UC Irvine in the fall, majoring in Computer Science. “One memory I’ll take away from Bosco Tech is my experience at Kairos, both as a candidate in the Fall and a student leader in the Spring,” Dominic shares. “Kairos allowed me to reflect on myself and my own life and connect with my senior brothers on a deeper level, strengthening my values and redirecting my future for the better.”
Nathan Gonzalez: Nathan, a part of the Tech’s CSEE technology program, will major in Electrical Engineering this fall at Cal Poly Pomona. He says, “Something I will take with me from Bosco Tech will be my friends. Their mannerisms have all rubbed off on me and pieces of them will live on within me as I carry on in life in the ways I act and the things I do.”
Congratulations to these exemplary young men!
Six outstanding seniors have been nominated for Bosco Tech’s Cardinal James McIntyre Award. Given in honor of the founder of the Tech, the award is annually bestowed upon a senior who, in the eyes of the technology faculty, has taken the greatest advantage of the educational opportunities offered by the school. The recipient of this award has demonstrated unwavering commitment and excellence in his technological studies, and involvement in the community, while also excelling in their academic studies.
This award encompasses many aspects of a student’s life and reflects the notion that it is through growth and development as a whole person that an individual sets himself apart and pursues a path through life that will lead to spiritual, personal and professional success. The award acknowledges a student’s conviction in all these areas.

The faculty and staff of Bosco Tech wish our graduating seniors the very best in their future endeavors.
To the Class of 2025, you are the first group I have had the privilege of seeing through your full high school journey, from freshmen to seniors. Watching you grow has been one of the greatest joys of my time at BoscoTech. If there is one thing I hope you carry with you, it is this: even when the world feels uncertain or unkind, hope is still worth holding onto. You may not always feel it clearly, but it will remain with you, steady, quiet, and real, helping you move forward. You will endure as well, with the strength you have built and will continue to grow. In the years ahead, that inner hope and the strength behind it will guide you through challenges, changes, and all the new beginnings still to come. I wish you all the best as you step into the future. Seize tomorrow and leave your mark on the world.

Tech sophomore Aditya Kumar (CSEE), the winner of the Rotary Club of Montebello’s recent essay competition, was honored in early April at the group’s district annual conference. Covering Southern California, Southern Nevada, and Arizona, Rotary District 5300 has about 1,800 members in 57 clubs. More than 300 Rotarians attended the recent awards event, including Rotary International Board members and reps of the United Nations.
Aditya earned special recognition as the Grand District Regional Winner of the Hensel Ethics Essay Contest which included a college scholarship. Allowed to invite an inspiring instructor to join him, Aditya was joined by Tech Band Director Sam Hankins who also was awarded a cash prize.
Bosco Tech’s Design Build team from ACE recently participated for the fourth year in a row in the CIEF Southern California Design Build competition in Orange County.
The two-day hands-on event, held at Golden West College, was an opportunity for student teams to demonstrate their architectural, construction and team-building skills while connecting with local industry and architectural mentors. The Techmen competed against 24 Southern California teams for awards and scholarships.
Under the careful direction of ACE Chair Brian Waters, Principal Jeff Krynen, and instructor Ms. Marlena Jackson, the students designed and built a usable structure that is now on display in the ACE lab. During the competition, they were timed and monitored as they constructed their design from the ground up.
The team members were Daniel Cendejas, Eli Acob, Mario Aguilar, Dion Aguilar-Martinez, Noah Blanco Caleb Cisneros, George Khazaal, Adam Velasquez, Saul Zenteno, Massimo Sorce, Alex Chavez, Naim Diab. Senior Caleb Cisneros was awarded a $750 academic scholarship by the CIEF for his future studies of the construction industry.
The CIEF is dedicated to promoting career awareness in the construction industry among high school students and annually hosts this timed hands-on contest.
The Bosco Tech community gave from the heart at the Red Cross Club’s recent Spring Blood Drive, in partnership with Cedars-Sinai Hospital. Our generous students, parents, faculty staff and friends donated 32 pints of blood, bringing the annual total for the year to 66 pints—the highest yearly amount since the pandemic! Donors even included a mother-son team, Mrs. Wolf and her son Alfredo, an ACE sophomore and Red Cross Club Board member who donated for the first time!
Bosco Tech’s top senior blood donors will earn a $500 scholarship for their altruism and generosity in helping to save lives. Thank you volunteers and donors for making the Spring Blood Drive a success!
Three Bosco Tech students--junior Sean Cortez and sophomores Jeremiah Burbano and Raymond Morales--and their familes recently enjoyed a VIP tour of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Their in-depth gllmpse of college life was hosted by Bosco Tech alum Lorenzo Pedroza (CSEE ‘20). A longtime friend of the Cortez family, Lorenzo who has just completed his master’s degree in Engineering at SLO. During the tour, he gave kudos to Bosco Tech for preparing him well for the rigorous SLO under-graduate and graduate programs.
A busy day on campus, they toured the engineering buildings and labs, shadowed an engineering class, viewed the dorms, had lunch in the dining commons, and even went to a local farmer’s market in town. Sean was fascinated to see how hands-on the class was. Sean, Jeremiah and Raymond were impressed and excited about college life and SLO is at the top of their lists!
While there, the families celebrated Lorenzo’s upcoming graduation from SLO’s graduate engineering program. Lorenzo, the Bosco Tech Community congratulates you on your achievement and sends you our best wishes. Godspeed!
