2019 DBTI Black & Gold Gala The Royal Techmen Marching Band performed at the 2019 DBTI Black and Gold Gala held on Saturday, April 6, 2019. Their stirring performance was a hit! 2019 Heritage Festival Congratulations to the DBTI Symphonic Band for a complete sweep of Gold at the 2019 Heritage Festival Competition in Nashville, Tennessee. All ensembles—Symphonic, Senior Symphonic and Percussion Ensemble—brought home the gold to Bosco! The band performed for Symphonic Band: “Covington Square” by James Swearingen; Senior Chamber Ensemble: “Academic Festival Overture” by Johannes Brahms; Percussion Ensemble: “Scuttlebutt” by Jim Casella during the competition at the Brentwood High School Performing Arts Center, competing against multiple ensembles from across the nation and Canada. Good job, Techmen! As always, you make us proud! See the full performances at https://www.facebook.com/ dbtimusic/videos/2336265626610486/ While in Nashville, the band took a ghost tour and visited and toured Vanderbilt College, Music Row, Nashville Musician’s Hall of Fame, the Country Music Hall of Fame, and the Grand Ole Opry. The Heritage award ceremony was held at the Wild Horse Saloon where the band and parents enjoyed dinner and dancing. All in all, a very successful trip for the band. None of this would have been possible without the support of the Bosco Tech family. Thank you for your continued support! Jazz Night Out The band then turned its focus to the “Jazz Night Out” Concert on April 26 in Tech Hall. It was a fun-filled night with amazing music of Motown like the Temptations, the Jackson 5, “The Queen of Soul” Aretha Franklin, the Supremes, the Miracles and many more. Spring Concert The DBTI Concert band and the Music Appreciation Class will be performing at the annual Spring Concert on Friday, May 17.
