We recently shared that MAT senior Tech senior Tomás Diego Carranza (MAT ’26) was awarded a scholarship by the Hispanic Scholarship Fund.
Well, it gets even better! Tomás has been named a goldlevel recipient of the Hispanic Heritage Foundation’s Youth Awards in Journalism & Media.
Selected as one of just 30 outstanding high school students nationwide, Tomás was recognized for his commitment to service, leadership, and vision both in and beyond the classroom. He is also one of only 10 students to earn the program’s prestigious Gold Level Award, representing the top honoree from each of the foundation’s geographic regions.

Tomás will participate in the Youth Awards Virtual Ceremony on Feb. 21 and has been invited to serve as a student speaker at the foundation’s Leaders Uniting & Networking for Advancement (LUNA) Dinner & Scholar Networking Event on March 12. Tomas has been asked to represent the 2025 Youth Leadership Institute as a speaker at the HSF’s March 12 Leaders Uniting & Networking for Advancement (LUNA) Dinner & Scholar Networking Event. He was selected after being considered one of the Institute’s best-reviewed students of the program he completed last summer.
The dinner and Tomás’ talk are on March 12 and we’re wishing him well! Congratulations to Tomás!
Congratulations to our Tech juniors, the future graduating class of 2027, who celebrated their traditional unity Mass and the blessing of the class rings on Feb. 25. May God bless you, gentlemen! HERE’S TO THE CLASS OF 2027

2024 Bosco Tech grad Caleb Glassow (IDEA ‘24) is making the most of his time at Duke University! Not only is the Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science major managing the university’s DesignHub Engineering Team, but he’s also serving as one of Duke Motorsports’ vehicle dynamics engineers, helping design the race car’s suspension.
Based out of the university’s Pratt School of Engineering, Duke Motorsports provides one of the most hands-on engineering design project experiences that complements a rigorous engineering undergraduate curriculum. Students design, build, and test an open-wheel formula-style race car, and then race it at the annual competition in Michigan, where Duke placed 16th out of 106 last year.

While at Bosco Tech, Caleb founded the popular Car Club that annually competes in the “24 Hours of Lemons” race. He also served as ASB President and was valedictorian of his graduating class.

“I highly recommend that all students take advantage of the resources Bosco Tech offers,” Caleb said. “For my interests, practicing CAD, learning how to use the machinery in IDEA, and talking with alumni to get their advice have provided me with all the skills I needed to jump right into cool projects in college. Being surrounded by these resources at Bosco Tech prepared me well for what I will soon do with a career in engineering.”
A huge thank you to Techmen for making the 2026 alumni baseball and volleyball games great successess. Are you hearing about these fun opportunities for alumni to meet up? If not, please contact alumni@boscotech.edu. We want to see you!

Congratulations to Mr. Sam Hankins! The Tech’s talented Music Program and Band Director has done it yet again!
Mr. Hankins has earned major kudos from the Global Music Awards. Known as “music’s golden seal of approval,” the Global Music Awards recognizes artists on an international scale who have contributed substantial works to the musical world.

Mr. Hankin’s “Here We Go” brought home the bronze medal in the Contemporary Smooth Jazz category. We’re grateful to have such talent inspiring and teaching Tech students. Listen to his amazing sounds at samhankins.com/

Keeping it real, on a professional level—MSET students had the opportunity to attend an ASM tour at Machina Labs in Chatsworth. The lab uses AI-guided robotics to create complex structures directly from CAD, with no dies or molds needed, from prototype straight to production!
Because Machina Labs is a government contractor, no photos were allowed inside the facility. Thank you to the Tech’s amazing MSET instructors, Mr. Alejandro Martinez and Mr. Anthony Campa, for this rare introduction to the evolution of manufacturing!

The Archdiocese of Los Angeles Christian Service Awards annually honor graduating seniors and teachers from Catholic high schools for outstanding volunteer service, with the 52nd event to be held on March 10, 2026. Presided over by Archbishop José H. Gomez, the awards recognize students for at least two years of consistent, non-remunerative work, highlighting a commitment to Gospel values.
This year, the Tech recipients are seniors Ricardo Martinez (ACE ‘26) and Mrs. Anne Sigoloff, Manager of Foundation Relations and Internship Coordinator.
Ricardo Martinez is an outstanding student who is currently one of the co-presidents for Bosco Tech’s Youth Ministry program, having served as a member for the last three years. He has worked with and overseen the school’s retreat, liturgy, character assembly, and prayer service programs. He also attended the Salesian Youth Leadership Conference (SYLC) which helps to strengthen and support the Salesian spirit and focus at all of our schools.
Ricardo recently served as a team member for the Tech’s senior Kairos retreat, and he is the Chaplin for our senior executive ASB cabinet. Ricardo has been a member of our Ambassador program for three years and is currently one of its leaders. He has been a part of our Lego Robotics team, mentoring elementary school students in STEM education. He has also served as a volunteer at St. Hilary’s parish and is currently working on his Eagle Scout project. He has complete 342 hours of Christian service while at the Tech.
Mrs. Anne Sigoloff In addition to securing and maintaining vital foundation grants and major gifts providing tuition assistance and scholarship support for hardworking, but financially struggling students, Mrs. Sigoloff oversees two of the Tech’s very important outreach efforts: the internship program and the student-led Red Cross Club.
Eleven years ago, Anne established the Tech’s very popular internship program that places students in well-known STEM organizations, labs, and companies throughout Los Angeles. To ensure the success of candidates, she offers a nine-month prep class that has participating students creating resumes, conducting mock interviews, and learning workplace etiquette and valuable job skills. Through these professional experiences, students learn the value of using their skills to build relationships, network and help others.

Moderator of the school’s Red Cross Club, Mrs. Sigoloff organizes and empowers student leaders to plan and run successful blood drives on the school campus for Cedars-Sinai and to organize hygiene item donation drives for homeless vets in the San Gabriel Valley. So successful have these events been that Bosco Tech is the largest local school donor in both efforts. Over the last ten years, Mrs. Sigoloff has effectively guided the student leaders to educate the campus community about the need for blood resources and to assist veterans who have found themselves in challenging situations.
Mrs. Sigoloff herself is the product of local Catholic education and enjoys giving back by helping students today understand the need and benefits of getting involved in the community through service.
Congratulations to both Ricardo and Mrs. Sigoloff and thank you for all you do!
Seniors in MAT’s Media Campaign Development class are earning professional certification while completing their technology coursework. The tie-in assignment to the course taught by Mr. Andy Padilla is a practical way for students to build their resume and quantify how they are learning to create engaging content, expand their digital reach, and measure ROI while building their resumes.
The two-fold assignment required them to complete both HubSpot Academy’s Social Media Marketing coursework and also certification in any area that aligns with the students’ long term career goals, within media arts or elswhere.
“Together, these certifications guide students in developing a personalized media campaign centered around their own identity and the skill set they can offer in their chosen field,” Mr. Padilla explained. “By the end of the course, students won’t just be able to say they’re social media certified—they’ll be able to demonstrate it by showcasing their credentials on professional platforms like LinkedIn.”
Hubspot is an all-in-one customer relationship management (CRM) platform designed to help businesses grow by unifying marketing, sales, content management and customer service. The course involved successfully completing 10 lessons, and passing quizzes on the material presented.

BY MRS. ANNE SIGOLOFF, INTERNSHIP COORINATOR & MANAGER OF FOUNDATION RELATIONS
There are lots of positive things happening for our summer internship candidates. Just a few highlights:
• Internship candidates completed their resumes last month and a number of students are beginning the application process for prestigious, sought-after internships with organizations such as Children’s Hospital, Los Angeles Pediatric Society, the L.A. City Attorney’s Office, JMDiaz, Inc, and The Boeing Company, to name a few.
• This month, students and parents attended Boeing sponsored Informational sessions to learn key facts about this competitive program. Since 2013, Bosco Tech has partnered with the Boeing Company placing nearly 100 high achieving students into the rigorous aerospace summer internships.
• Internship candidates are currently delving into the “Do’s and Don’ts” of Interviewing, learning how to answer tough questions like “ Tell me about your weaknesses. “ They are also working on creating impactful ‘elevator speeches’ to introduce themselves concisely summarizing their qualifications, goals and skills. An important part of the interviewing workshop are practical tips such as a firm handshake, maintaining eye contact, asking pertinent questions and sending prompt thank you notes !
• Next month, students will participate in mock interviews with members of Bosco Tech’s administration. Staff will provide helpful feedback to ensure candidates ace their internship interviews in the coming months.
