Board of Trustees Parent Representative Nomination Overview The Board of Trustees (BOT) has created a new position on the Board for a Parent Representative. The BOT Parent Representative is a non-voting member requiring a two-year commitment. The Representative will be responsible representing the interests of current Bosco Tech parents at Board meetings and acting as a conduit to parents on Board matters as appropriate. Parent Representative Criteria The criteria for the Parent Representative are as follows: • • • • • • • •

Parent of a current student of Don Bosco Technical Institute Understands and values a Catholic education Familiar with and values Bosco Tech’s mission, culture, and history Good financial standing with Bosco Tech Capable of acting as a representative of Bosco Tech parents’ concerns and willing to reach out to, make him or herself available to, and communicate with parents as needed. Willing and able to be visible and present on campus and at school-related functions Willing and able to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive school-related information Possessing expertise in one or more of the following identified areas of need: o o o o o

Community involvement Education Finance/accounting Investment Foundation access

Human Resources Infrastructure Marketing/Public Relations Technology University Admissions

The Parent Representative will be expected to participate in quarterly General Board meetings, which are normally held during the day, in addition to any assigned sub-committees.
