We need to connect with others for our own well being. Connecting with others counters feelings of loneliness that many of us experience in our everyday lives. By doing things together we can develop a greater compassion and an understanding of how we differ in our ideas on life and the ways we want to live it.

TOGETHER

The world is changing and calls for different rituals and habits. The library is a democratic platform where we can develop new ways to create and influence our everyday lives. Do you have an idea on how we can connect through different means at the borgarbokasafn.is/gerduberg-callinglibrary?

2023 GERÐUBERG CALLING We

Send us your project proposal before November 1st 2022

There is no need to be afraid of differences. If we have the possibility to connect with others, democratic discussions can take place and we gain a better feeling for the society we live in. What kind of new habits and rituals would get us doing more things together in a way that connects us to the local community – get us to be together anew? are seeking creative collaborations. How do we create new connections between people ? Open call! How would it look like at the library?

These are the words of a young guest at the opening of our newest library – the Reykjavík City Library Úlfarsárdalur. bestest library everThe „„

The library’s opening hours match those of the swimming pool: it opens early and closes late. Here there’s a swimming pool, a school, an athletics centre, and a library under the same roof, so it’s perfect for taking a peek in the library after a dip.

Do new mothers of foreign origin feel safe? How do we react to racism in children’s books? What information do people who have just moved to Iceland need? Do public spaces take you and your abilities into Peacekeeping.account? What is the role of the library? Do you have a topic you would like to discuss at the library? Opið samtal is a platform for an open discussion on rights, equity in access and social engagement. We encourage users, associations and organizations to contact us and start a conversation.
