It’s incredible how, in the blink of an eye, we’re already in February. This month is special because we celebrate and enjoy friendship, this month is a reminder of the importance of showing the love we feel for our family, friends, and colleagues.
This is the month of love and friendship and is a perfect opportunity to show our feelings to those we love. While many believe this holiday is only for romantic couples, we mustn’t forget it’s also a time to recognize the value of friendship and to be grateful to those who have stood by our side at every moment of our lives.
On this occasion, we’ve prepared an edition full of expressions of love for others. We highlight the work of two women dedicated to women’s health, who, through oncological and preventive treatments, help their patients achieve a better quality of life. We’ve also included a feature on the traditional “Santa Bombero” program, where, year after year, the Heroic Fire Department of Ciudad Juárez collects and distributes toys to the city’s children. In this most recent edition, even children from El Paso benefited from this noble effort.
In the Destinations section, we explore Greece, an ideal place to visit as a couple. The architecture and cultural heritage of this country frame breathtaking natural landscapes that leave visitors in awe. We also invite you to follow the valuable tips and recommendations shared by our clients and providers to make the most of this second month of the year.

Es increíble cómo, en un abrir y cerrar de ojos, ya estamos en febrero. Este mes es especial porque celebramos la amistad, la disfrutamos y recordamos la importancia de expresar el cariño que sentimos por nuestra familia, amigos y compañeros.
El mes del amor y la amistad es la oportunidad perfecta para demostrar nuestros sentimientos hacia quienes amamos. Aunque muchos piensan que esta festividad está dirigida solo a las parejas, no debemos olvidar que también es un momento para reconocer el valor de la amistad y agradecer a quienes han estado a nuestro lado en cada momento de nuestra vida.
En esta ocasión, hemos preparado una edición llena de expresiones de amor al prójimo. También incluimos una reseña sobre el tradicional programa “Santa Bombero”, en el que, año con año, el Heroico Cuerpo de Bomberos de Ciudad Juárez se dedica a recolectar y repartir juguetes para los niños de la ciudad. En esta última edición, incluso niños de El Paso se vieron beneficiados por este noble esfuerzo.

Ciudad Juárez recently hosted an important forum to share the latest advancements in oncology treatments for breast cancer patients. At this event, Border Heritage had the opportunity to speak with two specialists in the field. One of them was Dr. Cynthia Villarreal, originally from Monterrey, N.L., who practices at the Zambrano Hellion Hospital in that city. There, alongside other experts, she offers comprehensive and multidisciplinary care to patients diagnosed with breast cancer. The second specialist was Alejandra Platas, a clinical psychologist specializing in psycho-oncology based in Mexico City. Platas provides psychological support to patients and families facing a cancer diagnosis.
Both professionals are members of the Doctors and Researchers Fighting Breast Cancer Association (MILC), whose primary mission is to promote early detection, accurate diagnosis, and timely treatment of breast cancer. From their respective fields, they contribute their expertise and commitment to improving the quality of life for patients and their families.
This visit by the specialists is part of a collaboration between MILC and other organizations such as Sé Feliz A.C., Onconecta. org, and UMC, who have joined forces to approach the disease comprehensively. Together, they aim to design strategies to encourage early diagnoses, develop interventions, and create educational opportunities for women of Ciudad Juárez and El Paso.
Dr. Cynthia Villarreal: Commitment to Prevention For Dr. Villarreal, it is crucial that patients and the general public are informed about breast cancer, as knowledge can be key to early detection, preventing tumors from growing and becoming more aggressive. In Mexico and worldwide, breast cancer is one of the leading causes of death among women. According to Villarreal, one in eight people will experience, have, or know someone with breast cancer. For this reason, prevention and information are essential.
Despite the severity of this diagnosis, there are encouraging advances in oncology. More and more patients are achieving a cure, though this depends on early detection. The smaller the tumor at the time of diagnosis, the greater the chances of a cure.
Today, technological advancements allow for more personalized and less aggressive treatments. In the past, treatments often caused severe side effects; now, they are tailored to the cancer's stage and type. Dr. Villarreal emphasizes: “We stay close to our patients to manage side effects and adapt treatments to make them more tolerable. This work is my calling and what motivates me every day: to improve the quality of life for our patients.”
Alejandra Platas: Psychological Support for Patients and Caregivers Alejandra Platas approaches cancer from a psychological perspective, offering emotional support to patients and their families. Receiving a cancer diagnosis is a challenging event for both, those directly affected and their loved ones. In this context, MILC and Onconecta.org work to provide comprehensive care that includes psychological support. Platas explains that going through this process can be less overwhelming with the right support. Professional guidance helps patients and caregivers adapt better to the challenges posed by a cancer diagnosis.
She also highlights the importance of caring for caregivers, who often face significant physical and emotional strain. Without self-care, caregivers risk developing anxiety or depression. As Platas states: “I must take care of myself to be able to care for my loved one or patient.” Psychological support is also crucial for learning to communicate needs, understanding the disease, and feeling accompanied throughout the process.

iudad Juárez fue sede de un importante foro para la divulgación de los últimos avances en tratamientos oncológicos para pacientes con cáncer de mama. En este evento, Border Heritage conversó con dos especialistas en la materia. Una de ellas fue la Dra. Cynthia Villarreal, originaria de Monterrey, N.L., quien atiende en el Hospital Zambrano Hellion de esa ciudad. Allí, junto con otros especialistas, ofrece atención integral y multidisciplinaria a pacientes diagnosticadas con cáncer de mama. La segunda especialista fue la Alejandra Platas, psicóloga clínica con especialidad en psicooncología, con sede en la Ciudad de México. Ella brinda acompañamiento psicológico a pacientes y familias que enfrentan un diagnóstico de cáncer.
Ambas profesionales forman parte de la asociación Médicos e Investigadores en la Lucha contra el Cáncer de Mama (MILC), cuyo objetivo principal es promover la detección temprana, el diagnóstico certero y el tratamiento oportuno del cáncer de mama. Desde sus respectivas disciplinas, ambas aportan sus conocimientos y su compromiso para mejorar la calidad de vida de las pacientes y sus familias. La visita de estas especialistas responde a la alianza entre MILC y otras organizaciones como Sé Feliz A.C., Onconecta.org y UMC, quienes han unido esfuerzos para abordar la enfermedad de manera integral. También buscan diseñar estrategias para fomentar diagnósticos oportunos, desarrollar intervenciones, y abrir espacios educativos para las mujeres de Ciudad Juárez y El Paso.
Dra. Cynthia Villarreal: Compromiso con la prevención Para la Dra. Villarreal, es crucial que los pacientes y la sociedad en general estén informados sobre el cáncer de mama, ya que la información puede ser clave para una detección temprana, ayudando a evitar que los tumores crezcan y se vuelvan más agresivos. En México y en el mundo, el cáncer de mama es una de las principales causas de muerte en mujeres. Según Villarreal, 1 de cada 8 personas tendrán, tienen o conocerán a alguien con cáncer de mama. Por ello, la prevención y la información son fundamentales.
A pesar de la gravedad de este diagnóstico, existen avances alentadores en oncología. Cada vez más pacientes logran curarse, pero esto depende en gran medida de una detección temprana. Entre más pequeño sea el tumor al momento del diagnóstico, mayores son las posibilidades de curación.
Hoy en día, los avances tecnológicos permiten tratamientos más personalizados y menos agresivos. En el pasado, los tratamientos tenían efectos secundarios severos; ahora se ajustan según la etapa y tipo de cáncer. La Dra. Villarreal subraya: "Estamos cerca de nuestras pacientes para manejar los efectos secundarios y adaptar los tratamientos para que sean mejor tolerados. Este trabajo es mi vocación y lo que me motiva a levantarme cada día: mejorar la calidad de vida de nuestras pacientes".
Alejandra Platas: Apoyo psicológico para pacientes y cuidadores Por su parte, Alejandra Platas aborda el cáncer desde la psicología, brindando apoyo emocional a pacientes y sus familias. Recibir un diagnóstico de cáncer es un evento difícil tanto para quienes lo enfrentan como para sus seres queridos. En este contexto, MILC y Onconecta.org trabajan para ofrecer un tratamiento integral que incluya el acompañamiento psicológico.
Platas explica que atravesar este proceso puede ser menos abrumador con el apoyo adecuado. El acompañamiento profesional ayuda a los pacientes y cuidadores a adaptarse mejor a los desafíos del diagnóstico. Además, destaca la importancia de cuidar a los cuidadores, quienes suelen enfrentarse a un desgaste físico y emocional significativo. Sin autocuidado, los cuidadores corren el riesgo de desarrollar ansiedad o depresión.
Como afirma Platas: "Debo cuidarme para poder cuidar a mi familiar o paciente". El apoyo psicológico también es crucial para aprender a comunicar necesidades, entender la enfermedad y sentirse acompañado durante el proceso.

journey through History, Beauty, and Culture
Greece, a country in southeastern Europe with thousands of islands scattered across the Aegean and Ionian Seas, is known as the cradle of Western civilization. Its capital, Athens, is home to iconic landmarks such as the Acropolis, which includes the majestic Parthenon.
In addition to its historical significance, Greece is renowned for its beaches, ranging from the black sands of Santorini to the festive resorts of Mykonos, making it an unmissable destination for travelers who love history, nature, and adventure.
For these reasons, my sisters and I decided to travel to Europe, focusing primarily on this wonderful country. Greece dazzled us with its rich history, vibrant culture, exquisite cuisine, and unmatched beauty.
Santorini: A Dreamlike Island
Arriving in Santorini was a delight from the very beginning. Boarding a boat and sailing across the Aegean Sea took our breath away as we caught sight of this stunning island. Famous for its spectacular views, romantic sunsets, and dreamy beaches, Santorini is with no doubt a destination that belongs on every traveler’s bucket list.
We walked its charming cobblestone streets and discovered that Santorini is not only the most visited Greek island but also one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world, thanks to its extraordinary natural beauty and its tranquil, welcoming atmosphere.
Santorini is also a gastronomic paradise. Its cuisine, focused on fresh ingredients such as seafood and especially octopus, is a treat for the palate. While the island offers a wide variety of international cuisines, no visitor should miss the opportunity to taste authentic Greek food, particularly local dishes that blend unique flavors with affordable prices.Though Santorini is known as a romantic destination for newlyweds and couples, it also offers a wide range of activities for all kinds of travelers.
Mykonos: The Ibiza of Greece
After Santorini, we visited Mykonos, famous for its minimalist Cycladic architecture. The whitewashed houses, blue-domed churches, and iconic windmills facing Little Venice create a living postcard. Watching the sunset from this spot is simply magical, as the light bathes Chora (the main town) in warm hues.
Located in the center of the Cyclades island group, Mykonos is known for its cosmopolitan vibe and vibrant nightlife. It’s no wonder it’s often referred to as the Ibiza of Greece. Wandering through the narrow cobblestone streets of Chora, enjoying luxurious hotels, and relaxing on exotic beaches are unforgettable experiences. The contrast between the white city, the blue sky, and the vibrant bougainvillea flowers creates a unique visual spectacle.
Athens: The Cradle of Western Civilization
Our final stop was Athens, a different yet equally fascinating destination. This vast metropolis combines the legacy of its glorious past with the energy of a modern city.
Exploring the Acropolis and its majestic Parthenon, walking through the Agora where Socrates taught philosophy, visiting the ancient stadium where the modern Olympic Games began, and discovering some of the world’s most important museums are experiences that any history enthusiast will deeply treasure. In addition to being a living museum, Athens offers a vibrant contemporary scene: modern art galleries, music festivals, street art, and craft breweries are all part of its current identity.
A Journey for the Soul
Greece is a country that leaves a lasting impression. From its magical islands to its imposing ruins, every corner of this destination holds history, culture, and unmatched natural beauty. This family trip was a unique experience filled with unforgettable moments and cherished connections. Greece is a place that deserves to be visited at least once in a lifetime, where every island and every city has its own essence and magic. It’s a destination that will always remain in my heart!

Mykonos: La Ibiza de Grecia
TAdemás, Grecia destaca por sus playas, desde las arenas negras de Santorini hasta los resorts festivos de Mykonos, lo que la convierte en un destino imperdible para cualquier viajero amante de la historia, la naturaleza y la aventura. Fue por estas razones que mis hermanas y yo decidimos viajar a Europa, centrándonos principalmente en este maravilloso país. Grecia nos deslumbró con su rica historia, su vibrante cultura, su deliciosa gastronomía y su incomparable belleza.

Después de Santorini, visitamos Mykonos, famosa por su arquitectura cicládica minimalista. Las casas encaladas, las iglesias con cúpulas azules y los icónicos molinos de viento frente a Little Venice, crean una postal viviente. Thailand is one of Southeast Asia's most popular tourist destinations, known for its stunning natural beauty, rich cultural history, and warm hospitality. Visitors can enjoy the tropical warmth in December, a scene straight out of a postcard. Our adventure began in Bangkok, the bustling capital, the most populous city, and a hub for politics, commerce, and industry. Bangkok is a vibrant metropolis blending modernity and tradition, where you can travel from place to place in the fun traditional Tuk-tuks. We explored famous temples such as the Grand Palace, Wat Phra Kaew (Temple of the Emerald Buddha), and Wat Arun (Temple of Dawn), along with a visit to the traditional floating market. We also enjoyed the city's vibrant nightlife at rooftop bars with spectacular aerial views.
Santorini: Una Isla de Ensueño Llegar a Santorini fue un deleite desde el principio. Subir a un barco y navegar por el mar Egeo nos dejó sin aliento al divisar esta impresionante isla. Famosa por sus vistas espectaculares, atardeceres románticos y playas de ensueño, Santorini es sin duda un destino que debe estar en la lista de deseos de cualquier viajero. Paseamos por sus encantadoras calles empedradas y descubrimos que Santorini no solo es la isla griega más visitada, sino también uno de los destinos turísticos más populares del mundo, gracias a su extraordinaria belleza natural y su ambiente tranquilo y acogedor.
To continue our cultural journey, we visited Ayutthaya, the ancient capital, which is an archaeological marvel filled with temples and ruins from Thailand’s ancient civilization. In the north, Chiang Mai is known for its culture, temples, and mountains, with the iconic Wat Phra That Doi Suthep standing out. The city is also renowned for its Yi Peng Lantern Festival.
Santorini también es un paraíso gastronómico. Su cocina, centrada en ingredientes frescos como mariscos y, en particular, los pulpos, es una delicia para el paladar. Aunque la isla ofrece una amplia variedad de cocinas internacionales, ningún visitante debería perderse la oportunidad de probar la auténtica cocina griega, especialmente la local, que combina sabores únicos con precios accesibles.

We also visited Chiang Rai in search of the magnificent Wat Rong Khun, also known as the White Temple, which symbolizes Buddha's purity. Of course, no trip to Thailand would be complete without visiting its paradise beaches. We flew to Phuket and took a tour of Ko Tapu, also known as James Bond Island, where the 1984 Hollywood classic The Man with the Golden Gun was filmed. Four decades later, the island is still known for its connection to James Bond.
Aunque Santorini es conocida como un destino romántico para recién casados y parejas, también ofrece una amplia variedad de actividades para todo tipo de viajeros.
Un Viaje para el Alma Grecia es un país que deja huella. Desde sus islas mágicas hasta sus imponentes ruinas, cada rincón de este destino encierra historia, cultura y una belleza natural incomparable. Este viaje en familia fue una experiencia única, llena de momentos inolvidables y convivencia. Grecia es un lugar que merece ser visitado al menos una vez en la vida, donde cada isla y cada ciudad tienen su propia esencia y magia. ¡Un destino que quedará siempre en mi corazón!.

Anew chapter begins for El Paso. In an emotional ceremony held at the historic Plaza Theatre, Mayor Renard Johnson officially assumed his role as the new mayor of El Paso, joined by the city's newly elected representatives. Over a thousand people, including family members, municipal employees, and community and business leaders, gathered to celebrate this significant moment in the heart of our city.
In his speech, Mayor Johnson committed to leading with “integrity, openness, and a strong commitment to the community’s well-being.”
The newly elected city representatives, Alejandra Chávez (District 1), Josh Acevedo (District 2), Deanna Maldonado Rocha (District 3), Cynthia Boyar Trejo (District 4), Iván Niño (District 5), and Lily Limón (District 7), along with the municipal judges Michelle Morales, Kristin Romero, David A. Bonilla, Samuel Flores, and Mike Herrera, as well as the appellate court judge María B. Ramírez, have already begun their official service.
Congratulations to all those who begin this new chapter of service to the community.

Se inicia un nuevo capítulo para El Paso. En una emotiva ceremonia realizada en el histórico Plaza Theatre, el alcalde Renard Johnson asumió oficialmente como nuevo alcalde de El Paso, acompañado de los nuevos representantes de la ciudad. Más de mil personas, incluidos familiares, empleados municipales y líderes comunitarios y empresariales, se dieron cita para celebrar este importante momento en el corazón de nuestra ciudad.
En su discurso, el alcalde Johnson se comprometió a liderar con “integridad, apertura y un firme compromiso con el bienestar de la comunidad”.

The El Paso Museum of Art presents Star Ceiling, the latest project by renowned local artist Leo Villareal.
Desde sus innovadoras bancas de gravedad cero hasta la flora endémica que la rodea, cada detalle de la instalación invita a la contemplación y la conexión con el entorno.
On January 17, the ceiling of the El Paso Museum of Art lit up with hundreds of LED lights evoking the starry skies of the desert. "Star Ceiling" is a project funded by the El Paso Museum of Art Foundation in collaboration with the Paso del Norte Community Foundation. This installation aims to create a free and accessible space in the heart of the city where visitors can engage with Villareal's groundbreaking work.
Visitors can admire this masterpiece from comfortable and innovative zero-gravity benches designed specifically for the installation. These benches are surrounded by planters featuring endemic plants from the Chihuahuan Desert. The site-specific installation includes a suspended 120-foot LED array composed of 13,500 monochromatic, energy-efficient LEDs individually programmed by the artist. These lights generate non-repeating patterns, ensuring that the interactive display never repeats itself, providing a unique experience for each visitor.
"Star Ceiling" was created by the talented Leo Villareal, who grew up on both sides of the El Paso–Juárez border. Villareal is renowned for his illuminated installations, which have transformed urban spaces in cities such as San Francisco, London, New York, and Seoul. His works are featured in the permanent collections of numerous museums worldwide. Inconceptualizing "Star Ceiling," Villareal drew inspiration from his childhood in the border region, combining the imagery of the desert's starry skies with the vibrant city lights of El Paso and Juárez.

Esta extraordinaria obra, posible gracias al apoyo de la Fundación del Museo de Arte de El Paso en colaboración con la Fundación Paso del Norte, ofrece un espacio accesible y gratuito donde los visitantes pueden disfrutar de una experiencia inmersiva y en constante evolución.
El pasado 17 de enero, el techo del Museo de Arte de El Paso se iluminó con cientos de luces LED que evocan el cielo estrellado del desierto. “Star Ceiling” es un proyecto financiado por la Fundación del Museo de Arte de El Paso, en colaboración con Paso del Norte Community Foundation . Esta instalación tiene como objetivo crear un espacio gratuito y accesible en el centro de la ciudad, donde los visitantes puedan interactuar con el trabajo de Villareal.
Los visitantes pueden admirar esta obra desde unas cómodas e innovadoras bancas de gravedad cero, instaladas específicamente para este proyecto. Estas están rodeadas de jardineras con plantas endémicas del desierto de Chihuahua. La instalación, diseñada específicamente para este sitio, incluye una matriz LED suspendida de 120 pies de longitud, compuesta por 13,500 luces LED monocromáticas de alta eficiencia y direccionables individualmente. Her Love for Tennis, a Passion that transcends.
Tennis is more than just a sport for Daniela Chretin; it is a lifelong passion that has been with her since childhood. She grew up at the Campestre Club in Chihuahua City, spending countless hours on the court. For Daniela, tennis was not merely an activity but a deep connection to every corner of the court. Over the years, this bond grew stronger, and tennis became one of her greatest sources of joy and challenge.
From an early age, Daniela’s determination to improve every day was unwavering. Every training session was an opportunity to sharpen her skills, and every match became a new lesson in perseverance. The adrenaline of tense moments, the triumph of winning a crucial point or set, and the wisdom gained from losses fueled her love for tennis. This passion remains one of the most vibrant and enduring aspects of her life.
“Tennis is a discipline that has taught me resilience, persistence, how to enjoy competition, and, above all, the importance of constant growth,” Daniela shares.
However, tennis is not her only source of fulfillment. After graduating from the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) with a degree in education, Daniela found her true calling in teaching. Working with children is deeply rewarding for her, as each day she has the opportunity to influence their lives, help them discover their talents, and foster a love for learning.
She says that witnessing their growth, curiosity, and achievements inspires her to keep evolving both in her career and as a person.
Despite the beauty and challenges of her teaching career, Daniela’s most important and fulfilling role is that of being a mother. “I’m the mother of two beautiful daughters who have taught me more than I ever imagined. They are my greatest motivation, and my love for them gives me the strength to balance every aspect of my life.” Yet, tennis remains an essential part of her identity. “The sport brings me back to myself, to that space where I reconnect with who I am. It helps me remember the importance of taking care of my health and well-being while appreciating all that I have achieved.”
Today, Daniela Chretin is part of the 4.5 league, where she shares the court with her team. In 2024, they were crowned city champions—a triumph that fills her with pride. In the coming months, they will represent El Paso, Texas, for the second time in the Sectional Championship.
Tennis continues to be a cornerstone of Daniela’s life—a passion that not only keeps her active but also provides a unique perspective on the value of perseverance, dedication, and gratitude. As she advances in her career, family life, and sports journey, Daniela says she feels grateful for every moment lived—and for the moments yet to come.

El tenis es más que un simple deporte para Daniela Chretin; es una pasión que forma parte de su vida desde que era una niña. Creció en el Campestre de la ciudad de Chihuahua, donde pasaba horas interminables en la cancha. No solo jugaba tenis, sino que sentía una conexión profunda con cada rincón de esa cancha. A medida que los años pasaban, esa relación se fue fortaleciendo, y el tenis se convirtió en una de las mayores fuentes de alegría y desafío para ella.
Desde pequeña, el deseo de Daniela de mejorar cada día fue constante. Cada entrenamiento era una oportunidad para perfeccionar sus habilidades, cada partido, una nueva lección de superación. La adrenalina en los momentos de tensión, el sentimiento de triunfo al ganar un punto importante o un set, y la sabiduría que surge de las derrotas, es alimento que aumenta su amor por el tenis y hace que siga siendo una de las pasiones más vibrantes y presentes en su vida. “Es una disciplina que me ha enseñado a ser resiliente, a no rendirme, a disfrutar de la competencia, y sobre todo, a mantenerme en constante evolución”.
Sin embargo, el tenis no es lo único que llena su vida de satisfacción. Tras graduarse de la Universidad de Texas en El Paso (UTEP) como educadora, encontró en la enseñanza, su vocación. Trabajar niños es para Daniela una actividad profundamente gratificante; ya que cada día tiene la oportunidad de influir en sus vidas, ayudarlos a descubrir sus propios talentos y a fomentar su amor por el aprendizaje.
Daniela asegura que ver su crecimiento, su curiosidad y sus logros es algo que le inspira a seguir adelante en su carrera y como persona.
A pesar de la belleza y el desafío que encuentro en su carrera como docente, el papel más importante y gratificante para Daniela es el de madre. “Soy la mamá de dos hermosas niñas que me han enseñado más de lo que nunca imaginé. Ellas son mi mayor motivación, y mi amor por ellas me da la fuerza para equilibrar todos los aspectos de mi vida”. Pero el tenis, sigue siendo una parte esencial de mi ser.
El deporte me regresa a mi individualidad, a ese espacio donde me reconozco a mí misma, y me ayuda a recordar la importancia de cuidar mi salud y bienestar mientras me agradezco por todo lo que he logrado”.
Hoy en día, Daniela Chretin forma parte de la liga 4.5, donde comparte la cancha con su equipo. En el 2024 fueron campeonas de la ciudad, un logro que la llena de orgullo. En meses próximos, representaran a El Paso, Texas, por segunda vez en el campeonato Seccional.
El tenis sigue siendo un pilar fundamental en la vida de Daniela, una pasión que no solo la mantiene activa, sino que también le ofrece una perspectiva única sobre la importancia de la perseverancia, la dedicación y la gratitud. A medida que avanza en su carrera, con su familia y en el deporte, Daniela dice sentirse agradecida por cada momento vivido y por supuesto por momentos que aún están por venir.

Generous Donors Brighten the Holidays at El Paso Children’s Hospital
The 2024 holiday season brought a flurry of generosity to the El Paso Children’s Hospital Foundation, with an impressive array of donors coming together to spread joy and cheer to the hospital's young patients. The acts of kindness demonstrated the true spirit of the season, offering hope and comfort to children spending their holidays in the hospital.
The contributions came from diverse organizations and individuals, each adding their unique touch to the celebration. Walmart's “Spark Good - Change Kids’ Health” campaign provided an essential boost, ensuring that the children received a variety of gifts to brighten their days. SDI Technologies took it a step further by donating toys to the Foundation, as well as other regional non-profit organizations, amplifying the impact across the community.
Nusenda Credit Union and GECU joined the wave of generosity, delivering toy donations that brought smiles to many young faces. The Benavidez Patterson All Airborne, with their hundreds of stuffed animals, made sure the little ones felt nothing but joy. Notably, Chippin for Children, Amazon ELP1, Texas Kids Dental Care, and Ozaeta Construction contributed significantly to Santa’s Workshop, turning it into a magical wonderland for the children.
The heartfelt support continued with Evolve Federal Credit Union and Young Women’s STEAM Academy, bringing special gifts that made a real difference.
William Warren, Alaina Moore and her family, the Unwanted Society Car Club, and Irene Bustamante also played crucial roles in spreading holiday cheer.
Community spirit shone brightly with the Toy Foundation's generous $25,000 grant, enhancing the Child Life Program Services. This allowed the introduction of new toys and therapeutic play, fostering a joyful atmosphere that brought countless smiles and moments of healing.
A special mention goes to the Cathedral High School Soccer Team, who for the second year in a row delivered not just gifts, but hope and smiles. MSG William Smith and the 47th BSB, Mountain View High School, Eagle Foods, Horizon HS Athletics Dept, Once Upon A Room, and Asylum Karaoke added to the festive joy with their thoughtful contributions.
The Run For It running club made a special toy delivery, showcasing community spirit. Cristina Vasquez, Ergomotions/SFI, Transmaritime Inc., and the 915 Smile Project's toy donations brightened the children's holiday season, bringing joy and comfort to many. Santa himself made a special appearance at El Paso Children’s Hospital, spreading laughter and cheer, thanks to the tireless efforts of Urban Base Uniform and Sid Steadman. Rockstar Burger Bar and Urban Base Uniform also joined in, making the holidays brighter for patients and their families.
This season of giving highlighted the incredible generosity and kindness of the El Paso community. Every donation, big or small, played a part in lightening the hearts of children and their families during the festive season. A heartfelt thank you goes to each donor for making a meaningful difference in the lives of our community’s youngest heroes. Your compassion and generosity have left an indelible mark, filling the hospital with joy, hope, and the true spirit of the holidays.
Together, we have made the holidays brighter, showing the strength and unity of a community that cares deeply for its children.
PARA LA COMUNIDAD CON EL CORAZÓN EN CIUDAD JUÁREZ
With a strong commitment to working with heart and for the community of Ciudad Juárez, Us/Mexico/Canada Strategic Alliance organized a toy donation for underprivileged children at El Punto.
Recently, during an emotional ceremony, Us/Mexico/Canada Strategic Alliance donated thousands of toys to the Heroic Fire Department of Ciudad Juárez. Through the Santa Bombero program, they will distribute these toys to children in vulnerable areas.
The event was attended by the President of the Municipal DIF, Rubi Enríquez, along with Cecilia Levine, Juan Acereto, Tanny Berg, and Roberto Briones, among other distinguished guests, who joined forces to make this significant contribution to the community possible.

Héctor Núñez Polanco is the New Leader of the Business Coordinating Council. During the second regular session of the Business Coordinating Council (CCE), Héctor Núñez Polanco was appointed as the new coordinator of this important organization for the next six months.
The event was attended by prominent leaders from various business chambers, such as Canacintra, Canaco, Index, CMIC, AAA, the Transporters Association, and the Hotels Association, all of whom supported the decision.

FORO BINACIONAL DE NEGOCIOS T-MEC: INNOVACIÓN EN SERVICIOS, COMERCIO Y TURISMO
The iconic Blue Flame building in El Paso hosted the Binational Business Forum T-MEC (known as the USMCA in English), with the primary goal of promoting innovation in services, trade, and tourism. The event was attended by prominent off icials and government representatives, including Cruz Pérez Cuéllar, Renard Johnson, and Eric Enríquez, mayors of Ciudad Juárez, El Paso, and Las Cruces, respectively. Additional attendees included Ricardo Samaniego, judge of El Paso County; legislators; the Deputy Consul of Mexico in El Paso Felix Herrera; business representatives; and presidents of state and regional chambers of commerce from both sides of the border.
The forum started with a welcome address delivered by the event's president, Dr. Octavio de la Torre de Stéffano, who encouraged attendees to generate innovative ideas and strengthen collaboration b e tween the two cities to achieve common goals. Following the opening remarks, Elizabeth Villalobos Luna, president of Canaco Juárez, highlighted the forum’s purpose of defining key strategies to promote regional economic development. She noted that the event is supported by Concanaco and Fecanaco, represented by Octavio de la Torre and Héctor Luján, respectively. Furthermore, she underscored the forum's intent to lay the foundation for future revisions of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA).
The mayors of Ciudad Juárez and El Paso emphasized the importance of developing sustainable strategies to enhance regional competitiveness. They reiterated that collaboration between Mexican and U.S. entrepreneurs is essential under the USMCA framework to drive joint growth and strengthen regional value chains. Un Legado para Ciudad Juárez Monumento "Crece"

El Colegio de Arquitectos de Ciudad Juárez A.C. celebra sus 50 años con la inauguración del monumento "Crece", un símbolo de gratitud a la comunidad y compromiso con la arquitectura local. Diseñado por el Arquitecto Carlos E. Yáñez A., este monumento se ubica en la intersección de la Avenida Abraham Lincoln y Herrera Jordán, en el Chamizal.
Desde la Avenida Abraham Lincoln, "Crece" destaca con la mega bandera de fondo durante el día y la estrella de la Montaña Franklin por la noche, resaltando la identidad fronteriza de Ciudad Juárez.
El monumento está rodeado de un corredor para su mejor apreciación, con árboles endémicos que brindan sombra y contrastan con la estructura. Se han utilizado materiales de bajo mantenimiento, como pasto artificial y piedra de río, asegurando un diseño sustentable.
Su orientación crea efectos de luz y sombra que cambian con el día, dando vida a su estructura y aportando dinamismo al paisaje.
"Así como estas vigas, CRECE unido a tus valores" es el mensaje que busca inspirar a la comunidad a crecer con principios y unidad. Con este monumento, el Colegio de Arquitectos deja una huella en la ciudad, reafirmando su legado para las futuras generaciones.
