Competition: HabitatVZ-Extreme
Location: Tuvalu Islands Collaborative work: Tanay AbhidnyaVaishnaviBoraJadhavDali
SHELL-TER
The Tuvalu is a small clustered island country. Most of the site is an atoll, a ring-shaped geographic flat terrain with a water body inside as well as outside. Increasing global warming has led to submerging these thin strips of land on either side. This is an abode for the people of Tuvalu who believe they are on the verge of extinction. The safe haven comprises of self sustaining elements, while also reducing the sea trash. These modules can be replicated and be used for creating sense of communal belonging with visual connect. The internal spaces are scattered in the greens of the terrarium; while internal spaces are given their privacy.
09

The characters are a vlogger couple, who want to live and highlight the lives of these vulnerable demographics, the floating pods and a native duo of grandmother and grandson. The characters work in Metaphors of the past and future of Tuvalu with the bridge between Tuvalu and the world. The pod allows for an exchange of knowledge between the two demographics.

The Studio covered a thorough analysis of the neighbourhood’s health institution via locating characters in their daily routine and their interaction with these health institution. To understand the needs of the neighbourhood in times of covid and otherwise. The community strongly required a women centric space, to create awareness about the TABOO topics of menstrual and mental health within the community.

HOSPITALWOMENS’ LANDSCAPE Studio: Semester V Location: Pune, Maharshtra Guide: Swati Sheshadri The Studio was an initial step towards understanding landscaping around a built form. The aim was to identify the zones as well as type of vegeation stratergy . The building already had a concept of loops and chain , letting it flow in the landscape with change of amterialinto brick with bullseye arches, creating fun elements for the kids. Also, taking inspiration from Isamu Noguchi! for the playful elements 19

CENTRELEARNING 21

CENTRELEARNING Studio: Semester VI Location: Mumbai,Maharshtra Guide: Vishal Jayan The site is located opposite wadala depot, with context of an informal settlement at the back of the site as well as ambedkar college to the side. Hence the programme was a learning centreThe upper floors are for the institute but the ground is kept as a Public Plaza. This allows everyone to use this institute, allowing the real democratic space. 1. Study Pods 2. First FloorA.Library reception B. Lecture hall 3. Second Floor A. Night class B. Staff room C. Everyone has different style of reading, but most libraries do not cater to that aspect. Hence the idea is to deconstruct a library with large rooms and a single table for 20 readers. The Idea of Individuality is important, hence these pods are designed for specific readers with detail in fenestration, furniture and overall placement of these capsules.

The mass of the building is lifted up by the Diagrid columns, creating larger spans for the public plaza , hence also allowing transparency for the overall ground. The overall built form is constructed in concrete with oneway ribbed slab. The modules/pods are made from concrete pipes, as a comment on the prejudice of the sewers and the dalit community, and perforated metal sheet as ashading device for the facade.

B) TheProgrammaticprogramis24hr library, with night classes for students who have day job to meet family expenses and a publication house which prints dalit literature and creates awareness through the library. C) EachFORMalofthe terrace has set of genres and those are linked to the allied function that happens on that floor, which also dictates the type of reader modules that come on that floor. •Anarchy•INDIVIDUAL•Heavy•Break•Opague•Unorganisedthegridactivities 26

Amda-VAAT Studio: Semester II Location: Ahmedabad,Gujarat

The Program is space for conversation in the dense fabric of the amdavadi heritage site pols. The develops from 2 aspects, firstly the observation from the site. Second from the haiku. The Pols had an extensive use of otlas or plinths . These were used for conversation, engaing with street, drying food items, resting for the passerby, hence the idea of varying plinths allowed for different conversations. The roof form came from the Haiku, “The far shore Drifting out of the mist To meet us“, exploring these through models and hence the roof is a fluid shape. (Model exploration is in the miscellaneous section)
