HUNTSVILLE BASEBALL

HHS Baseball Family,

I am looking forward to my sixth season coaching the Huntsville High School baseball program! I am excited for the 2024 season and to watch our players pursue the program’s 19th Area Championship and our team goal of playing for a State Championship On behalf of the HHS baseball program, I would like to wish all the former players successful futures on and off the baseball field. The 2024 season will be full of competitive opportunities each week, featuring teams from Alabama, Tennessee, and Mississippi. The coaching staff and players are excited for the challenges on the field and look forward to seeing how we progress as a program throughout the season. We will compete in 7A Area 7 with quality opponents in Albertville, Grissom, and Sparkman

I would like to thank our school administration and faculty, the program sponsors, our program parents, and all the students for the support of our HHS baseball program To my assistant coaches, thank you for taking time out of your schedules to help make our program better each day. Huntsville is special place where everyone in the community is willing to help any way they can and support our sports programs!

Luke Lamm Head Coach, Huntsville High School

COACHING STAFF

Luke Lamm Head Varsity Coach

Coach Lamm enters his sixth season as Head Coach at Huntsville High School. The Panthers have won Area Championships in 2019 and 2022, with an Area Runner-up finish in 2023. Prior to coming to HHS, Lamm was at Decatur High School where he was their head coach for four seasons. In Coach Lamm’s second season (2016) he led the Decatur Red Raiders to a school record for wins in a season, 35 (35-11) and a 32-5 record in 2017 with an Area Championship and an Elite 8 appearance. Before becoming a head coach, Coach Lamm was the pitching coach at Sparkman High School, advancing to the 7A finals in 2014.

Coach Lamm attended Columbia State Community College where he played two full seasons before going to Martin Methodist where he earned First Team All-Conference his senior year and received his BS in Education and received his master’s degree in Instruction Leadership from West Alabama. Coach Lamm is married to the former Kristen Wengert of Huntsville, AL. They have three children, Nolan (11), Audrey (9), and Layton (5).

COACHING STAFF

Chandler Allen Assistant Varsity Coach

Chandler Allen enters his first season with HHS baseball. He comes to Hunsville from Decatur High School where he spent two years coaching baseball and football. At Decatur, he was the varsity assistant and coached the pitchers. Coach Allen attended college at Blue Mountain Christian University and played baseball for four years. There he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education. He teaches 12th grade Government and Economics at HHS. He married his wife, Chloe, in December 2022.

Jody Slay

Assistant Varsity Coach

Coach Slay enters his second season with HHS baseball. He has been a resident of Huntsville for the last 25 years. Coach Slay was a student athlete for Alabama A&M University where he graduated with a B.S. in Psychology and a Minor in Biology. Coach Slay also obtained a Masters Degree from Adelphi University. Coach Slay is married to Dr. Carlquista Slay and have two beautiful daughters Camiah and Jaliyah.

Levi Terry Assistant Varsity Coach

Levi Terry was a 1999 graduate of Austin High School. While attending Austin he was a member of the Football and Baseball teams. Levi was a walk-on at the University of North Alabama Football team for the 2001 season. Levi graduated from UNA in 2004 and received his undergraduate degree in Fitness Management and Business Administration. He also received an undergraduate degree in Physical Education and Health in 2008. Levi started his coaching career in 2007 at Decatur High School; he

then coached Football and Baseball in Limestone County for 5 years before returning to Decatur High School in 2013. At Decatur he coached Football and was a Baseball assistant on Coach Lamm’s staff. He most recently served as the Defensive Coordinator for Decatur High School for the past three seasons. This will be Levi’s 17 th year coaching and his first year at Huntsville High School. He is married to Sunee and has two daughters - Ellie and Ocie.
