Many individuals can attest that they are excellent playmates, listeners, and trustworthy companions. And when we become older, some people still remember their childhood toys, which is why teddies can catch us off guard. What About This Straightforward Yet Beautiful Toy Appeals To Us So Much? When we observe bears in the wild, they are not at all cuddly; rather, they are dangerous animals who strike dread into people’s hearts and are solely to blame for many human fatalities each year. Nevertheless, this plaything continues to amaze us, and it even has a fascinating origin story behind its name, Teddy. How Were Giant Teddy Bears Discovered? Theodore Roosevelt and his hunting companions came across several wild creatures while in the field and later discovered a helpless bear. The President was asked to shoot the bear by the hunting party, but he declined. Whether true or not, when this wonderful deed swiftly gained notoriety, Clifford Berryman created a cartoon about it. A toy store owner in Brooklyn chose to call his stuffed bear toy “Teddy Bear.” Naturally, he did this after seeking approval from the President.
