BON HOMME YANKTON ELECTRIC 2023 SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS!
Each year Bon Homme Yankton Electric offers one $1,000 and two $500 academic scholarships. The $1,000 scholarship is funded by Basin Electric Power Cooperative of Bismark, ND. The additional $500 scholarships are funded by Bon Homme Yankton Electric. These scholarships are designed to recognize and encourage the academic and community achievements of the students in our area. Applicants must be a dependent of an active electric member and must be students enrolled or planning to enroll in a full-time undergraduate or graduate course of study at an accredited, two-year or four-year college, university, or
Bon Homme Yankton Electric Awards $1,000 Scholarship to Nora Welker. She will graduate from Yankton High School in May.

Nora has been active in Softball, Basketball, Tennis, Cross Country, Track and Field, Yankton High School Humanitarian Club, and Honor Society. She plans to attend Creighton University in the fall of 2023 and major in Biology. Additionally, she intends to take advantage of the study abroad opportunities offered at Creighton. While not decided on a specific career path, her interests are in the areas of Forensic Science and Pharmacy, she is also planning to enter into a graduate program upon receiving a bachelor’s degree. Nora’s parents are Tim and Kristy Welker.

Bon Homme Yankton Electric Awards $500 Scholarship to Hope Lesher. She will graduate from Yankton High School in May.
Hope is active in Track and Field, Gymnastics, Humanitarian Club, Student Council, United Church of Christ Missions Team, Yankton Heartland Humane Society, and Gift Givers. When asked about her future goals she said, “I hope to achieve a double undergraduate degree in kinesiology and biology at Gustavus Adolphus College. I then want to attend chiropractic school to earn my Doctor of Chiropractic Degree. I hope to eventually become experienced and financially stable enough to open a clinic of my own and surround myself with other intelligent individuals who have the same goal as me: to relieve people of their pain and help their bodies and health reach their full potential.” Hope’s parents are Dave and Chrissy Lesher.
Bon Homme Yankton Electric Awards $500 Scholarship to Jaymison Bjorum. He will graduate from Bon Homme High School in May.
Jaymison has been active in Wrestling for all of his high school years. He has held several jobs in his community and proven to be a dependable and hard worker. In the fall of 2023 he plans to attend Mitchell Tech Power Lineman Program. Jaymison said, “my biggest goal in life is to be the first one in my family to attend a post secondary institution after high school. I plan to use my degree to build my career as a power lineman and show my younger siblings that with hard work and determination you can achieve your dreams no matter what cards you’re dealt.” Jaymison’s parents are Cory and Candy Bjorum.
