For dinner we wanted to eat at the Queen's Garden Hotel because we wanted to experience having dinner in the Bird Nest but because ofthe weather (it was rainy), we didn't stay. We went back to Scout's Place where they have the famous Martini night! Every Thursday, everyone comes here to enjoy cocktails, delicious (FREE) appetizers, and great music! Trisha, the host and bartender, is the best! Trisha is such a bubbly and friendly lady that takes time to attend personally to all ofher clients. She made several cocktails for us, allowed us to put on our own music and play DJ. She's amazing! We had a delicious dinner, mingled with the locals and stayed till late. Needless to say it was a night to remember. We not only created great memories but also friendships!
MustDo! We only stayed one night in Saba, so we really had to make the most out ofour very short stay. Saba has a wide variety ofplaces to dine, shop, and/ or just relax. Ifyou are staying longer, there's enough to do on the island. But here's what you can do ifyou're in Saba for 24 hrs: -Take a stroll through the villages: We arrived in the afternoon so the museum was already closed, so we opted to take a stroll through the small streets ofWindwarside ( where we st ayed), which is the most touristic area. W hat we noticed to be really peculiar was the mini cemeteries here and there, which was a sight we haven't seen before. Nevertheless, picturesque. -Island taxi tour: Willem gave us a short island tour through The Bottom which is the capital of Saba, where you will find the medical facilities and also the Saba School ofMedicine. In St. John's village we made some stops to capture some beautiful scenic shots ofthe island. -Visit the Saba Tourist Bureau: We went to the Tourist Bureau to deliver our latest edition of
Bone, to talk with Glenn ( the director) and to get more information about Saba. We were welcomed by the lovely Zuleyka and we got all the information we needed. So make sure you visit the Saba Tourist Bureau. -Hike: We wanted to hike the Mt. Scenery, which is the highest point in the Kingdom ofthe Netherlands, but due to the rainfall ofthe day before, the pathways were slippery and we were not able to hike all the way to the mountaintop. We only climbed about halfway and before we knew it, it was already time to embark on the ferry that would take us back to St. Martin. We opted to fly to Saba and to return by ferry to have the experience ofboth forms to travel to the beautiful island of Saba.
Wffl we visit Saba again? Ofcourse! We already planned to go back next year, because 1 day is not enough. There's so much we want to do and see.
