BeYourOwnBoss: Discover your entrepreneurial qualities
Have you ever thought of becoming your own boss? Are you unsure if you have the proper qualities to fulfill this role? With Qredits’ BeYourOwnBoss educational program, you can discover your entrepreneurial attributes and increase your potential as a future entrepreneur.
This program, designed for secondary school students, is currently being implemented at the Liseo Boneriano and the MBO. It does not aim to turn all participating students into entrepreneurs but rather to help them act and think in an entrepreneurial way. Students will also feel less intimidated by entrepreneurship and more confident about other options—besides employment—to generate income in the (near) future.
An educational program for students
The BeYourOwnBoss program focuses on the Business Model Canvas (BMC). In just five steps, you'll create your business portfolio and develop your BMC. The BMC will teach you everything you need to know about running a business, which will be useful if you want to bring your own ideas to life in the future.
You'll spend roughly 20 hours to complete the program. To help you, you'll get a textbook and access to the e-learning platform. Upon successful completion of the program, you’ll receive a certificate.
Karen Reyes’ experience with the program
After recently completing the program, Karen Reyes, an MBO student, shared her experience in hopes of motivating other students to pursue this opportunity.

The course equipped her with a solid foundation in entrepreneurship. Karen learned essential steps such as starting a business, navigating loans, and mastering marketing and customer relations. This newfound knowledge proved invaluable to her journey.
Initially unaware of Qredits and its programs, she discovered the information a week after the start date and decided to sign up immediately.
As the owner of a small makeup business, Karen has always been passionate about the beauty industry, with aspirations to open a beauty lounge in the future. Learning that Qredits could assist her in starting a business from scratch motivated her to enroll, despite joining a week late. She quickly caught up and was eager to learn.
Having high expectations for the course, Karen found them fully met. The program provided extensive information on various aspects of entrepreneurship, from securing funding to marketing products. She praised the clear instructions and the comprehensive textbook, which covered all the necessary details. Describing the lessons as informative and the instructors as supportive and kind, Karen highlighted their openness to questions.
Their encouragement significantly enhanced her learning experience.
Boosting her motivation and confidence to pursue entrepreneurship, the program's support and practical approach, including pitching her business idea, made the daunting process feel achievable despite initial nervousness.
For her final project, Karen presented "The Dolls House," a luxury beauty lounge concept. She developed a logo, identified her target clientele, and detailed her product offerings. Her presentation featured a comprehensive business model canvas outlining her unique strategies for customer relations, marketing, and financial planning. Her focus centered on creating an inclusive environment, particularly catering to clients with darker skin tones, ensuring they felt represented and valued.
Why you should participate
Karen wholeheartedly recommends the BeYourOwnBoss program to other students. The practical skills and knowledge gained are immensely beneficial. She appreciated how the course explained the basic steps clearly and provided guidance on funding, saving, and investing in a business.
Karen Reyes' experience with the BeYourOwnBoss program exemplifies how educational initiatives like this can inspire and equip students to pursue their entrepreneurial dreams. If you're a student at Liseo Boneriano or MBO, consider taking this step towards discovering and enhancing your entrepreneurial potential.
For her final pitch, Karen made a prototype of her “The Dolls House” business space.
