Air Handling, Water Treatment, and Plumbing Systems is about understanding air-handling systems, water systems, plumbing systems, and fire protection systems. Specifically, the chapters in this text address human comfort, ductwork, air-handling units, and indoor air quality.

Designed for building engineers, the Commercial HVAC course provides an opportunity to enhance service skills through hands-on training. The course will enable beginning engineers and those with experience to become more proficient in the work environment. Course topics will include commercial refrigeration systems, energy management, DDC controls, pneumatic calibration, cooling tower maintenance, air handlers, pumps, boilers, water and air balancing and other topics.

In this course, you will have the opportunity to apply concepts within the real property and facilities context. You will follow the accounting process and creation of a budget from start to finish, learning valuable skills such as how to interpret financial statements, annual reports, and statements of cash flows. You will also learn practical skills such as how to compile lease abstracts and prepare rent rolls.

Learn to compare building system components and to identify appropriate inspection and maintenance techniques. You will develop the knowledge to establish procedures and standards for monitoring building operations, preventive maintenance, and cleaning. You will also learn to read and use construction documents, studying from a coursebook that features a set of drawings and an architect’s pocket scale.

Building Engineering (BE 201) 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. April 12-28, Tuesdays and Thursdays Member Company: $399 | Non-member company: $449 For those with more experience and who have already take the 101 class, BOMA Georgia offer Building Engineering 201, a six-day course taught over six weeks. The course combines classroom-style learning, and interaction with industry professionals. Learn from real-life scenarios while gaining an understanding of relevant building systems in a course specifically designed to teach building engineers how to be successful in their field. Sessions cover basic trade skills, preventative maintenance, risk management, fire and life safety, best practices for communications, and a better understanding of how important the building engineer’s role is to the overall success of the building. The course provides an understanding of electrical systems and lighting, elevator maintenance and modernization, and pest and solid waste management. It also covers security issues, fire and safety systems and energy management concerns.

Energy Management and Controls 3-7 p.m.,Tuesdays, May 31-July 5 Members: $1,125 $625 | Non-members: $1,345 $845 Foundation scholarship is embedded for all students.

Energy Management and Controls includes a number of key concepts and discussions that teach fundamental maintenance and energy management control aspects that will enable you to run your building operations in a cost-efficient manner. You will develop an understanding of the operation of heating, cooling, humidification, and dehumidification control applications, and learn about variable air volume design and building pressurization control devices.

This course provides you with an overview of the environmental health and safety considerations in building operations. You will learn to develop and manage proactive environmental/occupational health and safety programs; comply with regulatory standards and guidelines governing facility health and safety issues; and assess when to obtain technical assistance.

Ethics is Good Business Short Course 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m., Oct. 13 Members: $425| Non-members: $525 Understand the effect that ethical behavior can have on your professional performance and your property’s bottom line. This five-day course is taught over five consecutive weeks and includes information about accounting and reporting, leasing and marketing, risk management, emergency planning and management skills.

Real Estate Investment and Finance Course Is Foundation scholarship eligible 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m., Sept. 14-16 Members: $1,125 | Non-members: $1,345 Through this course, you will learn to take charge of real estate investments in order to maximize the value of a property. You will develop knowledge about basic financial concepts as they relate to real estate, including valuation, analysis, taxation, depreciation and life-cycle costing. Similarly, you will learn to evaluate real estate investments and to develop budgets that estimate net operating income. You will study the income capitalization approach and cover property taxation costs and strategies to offset these costs. You will also gain the skills to conduct discounted cash flow analysis and calculate net present value and internal rate of return. This course features th use of a financial calculator.

Refrigeration Systems and Accessories 3-7p.m., Tuesdays, Sept. 20-Oct. 25 Members: $1,125 $625 | Non-members: $1,345 $845 Foundation scholarship is embedded for all students.

Refrigeration Systems and Accessories reviews the basic refrigeration cycle and refrigeration system components, as well as how to operate and maintain reciprocating and absorption refrigeration systems.

You will gain the skills and knowledge to describe the principles of refrigeration and identify the performance characteristics of refrigeration components.

2022 BOMA Georgia Tour of Buildings 1-4:30 p.m., Oct.19 Learn more about the diversity of commercial real estate by touring three unique buildings. In one afternoon, you will learn what makes each building so distinct. Each building tour will last one hour and will highlight features specific to the overall operation of the building.

These courses denote that a Foundation scholarship is embedded for all students enrolled in the course.

Facilities Management Administrator – FMA® The Facilities Management Administrator designation program benefits new and experienced facilities professionals alike. Through the indepth coverage of critical-needs topics, including planning and project management, facilities technologies, finance and investment, and environmental health and worker safety, the FMA program helps position facilities managers as key strategic contributors within their organizations.

Systems Maintenance Technician – SMT® The Systems Maintenance Technician designation program provides today’s technicians with the skills that will help them stand out as top performers, who can raise a building’s efficiency while reducing operating costs. The SMT program covers every major building operating system, from HVAC to plumbing to electrical and overall control systems.

In partnership with BOMI International, BOMA Georgia is proud to offer all three courses in the new BOMI-HP™ designation program. Students who enroll and pass all three courses in the program will earn the BOMI-HP™ designation.

Free Seminars BOMA Georgia always looks for ways to create value for its members. Every year the association offers free seminars to BOMA Georgia members.

The Fall Free Seminar, is an annual seminar that explores topics and trends in Georgia’s commercial real estate industry. These seminars are free and open to any current BOMA Georgia member. Non-members can attend for $99.

Specifically designed for BOMA Georgia allied members, the Allied Member Resource Group meets quarterly for a free seminar. The seminars explore specific topics related to either doing business or maximizing an allied member’s experience within BOMA Georgia. These seminars are always free for BOMA Georgia allied members. Non-members may attend at the non-member price of $50.
