Gladstone breaks the imaginary that the impacts of the industry could be controlled within borders. Legislative laws draw lines as a mode of limits, to separate the dross of industrial processes from impacting their surroundings.

The fictional lines that demarcate industrial activity from the Great Barrier Reef and the surrounding context is merely fictional in its effects. The format of the allegory will be used as an antidote to challenge the limitations of traditional architectural modes of representation. In reality these boundaries in Gladstone authorise colonial forms of exploitation. Legislative boundaries are utilised to allow for the continuous brutalisation of land. They stipulate set areas, habitats and ecosystems where the industries are permitted to maintain their course of resource profiteering, power, land claim, and mutating landscapes.

Before we were able to continue with designing the architecture of out spaces, we underwent in depth research on the process and life cycle of algae and its manufacturing into oils, manure, fresh water and plastics. 10

ECO-SYSTEM DRAWING: 工业生活园生态系统图 A factory of landscape will eliminate the notion of ‘other’ spaces. The algae factory, creates landscape of fluorescent green tubes, contributes in a sustainable and non-extractive use of the land to produce biofuel. The factory is ubiquitous, eliminating the boundaries that isolate the private from the accessible, merging it into all the landscape and community activities in Gladstone.

Joy Incorporated is a community of retirees. A community where every person has retired as a result of the new economic system that has risen with the algae farming industry. Negotiating between the ruins of the largest coal terminal in Australia, Joy Inc builds a system of rigid trusses drawing from the existing to serve as a pentagrama for the new fluid urban fixtures that define the new city. The new city now dependent on an economy of joy, constant activity and healing.

It connects the segregated and securitised land with a community, stimulating rejuvenation and activation. RESIDENT RITUALS INTERACTION WITH INFRASTRUCTURES ON DIFFERENT PART 居民生活行为与工厂主要设施互动 Each process within the algae farming factory is associated to a mundane lifestyle ritual; working, bathing, gardening, exercise, social and sleeping. The factory is a retirement village, an intergenerational social infrastructure centred around the Algae farming process. The Algae farming factory and it processes start to have an impact on all surrounding ecosystems; improving the quality of life of the residents, bringing together the once disjointed community of the transient city.

INTERACTION PROGRAMMATIC SCENARIOS: 设施互动场景

Bags filled with algae water coming from the pools. With the generation of 02 from the algae, the bags and balloons inflate.

The Algae farming factory and it processes start to have an impact on all surrounding ecosystems; improving the quality of life of residents and bringing together the once disjointed community of the transient city.

All waste water is used in the algal cultivation process as well as black water, each type of waste water chamges the possibilities for the algae’s biomass’use; biofuel, plastics, fertiliser or feed.

Pipes extract the water fro the pools and bring it inside the bags to cultivate the algae. Birdnets where to dry the algae after releasing it from the plastic bags.

Showers in the algae pool, where treated water and microalgae mix. The soap provides nutrients for the algae to grow.

Conveyor belts bring the fertiliser made with algae to the toxic land. Dead people are buried under the fertiliser, becoming part of the rejuventating system of land.

This type of algae is toxic to human interactions and can not be used as feed or fertilizer, however it can be used as a base material to produce plastics. this plastic will be used for the bags which are essential for the operation of Joy Incorporated. With the alage’s love for black water, a collective defecating ritual is introduced. fluid structure is placed along the boundaries of these algae pools, and are given the oportunity to become a breathing urban fixture. As the algae is cultivated and matures, oxygen is produced as a natural by-product transforiming the light material into undetermined shapes.

The facades of the enclosed spaces are made of plastic bags made with algae biomass as the raw material; filled with algae water extracted from the pools for further harvesting. Each 1 liter bag is connected to the algae pipe and fills it with the mix of microalgae, treated water and C02 and after 7 days the algae (since it is plant) has produced enough oxygen that inflates the plastic bag. The facade contributes to the community’s ritual of harvesting. The water’s main form of transportation is through the aqueduct trusses however to transport them to the showers and across the proposal, flexible tubes are wraped around the tensile structures that act as supporting structures to the showers, and balloons. The introduction of the bubbler every two meters on the pool floor ensures a more vigerous mixing than what human movement can create alone. From the pictures that made by Micheal Noll using computer programming. We found out that there is region that effect with changing of the elements or patterns. The first two images seem to have just only one region that same as Mondrian’s picture. The last two images like to have another type of region appears on the picture. The red area will make the line become shorter and decrease the density of the elements. In the opposite, The blue region seem to attract more of elements which become more solid.

We apply with the idea of “Duotone Truchet-like Tilings” into the space to create more variety and connection. Then, we design 4 types of cells. Once it place down on hexagonal grid by the system from game board. Some of them act as a column, some of them have chambers for display.

The painting was the placement of the bars random with a uniform density. The bars were place within a circle of radius 450 units. If the center of the fell inside “parabolic region” the lenght of the bars will reduced by a factor proportional to the distance of the bar from the edge of the parabola.

Base on reseach make a machine model to simulate how it works on space create. The machine base on rotate and free select area to create space. Each unit is a line on hexagon base. When they rotating are new space is created.

We apply with the idea of “Duotone Truchetlike Tilings” into the space to create more variety and connection. Then, we design 4 types of cells. Whole architectural planning. The pattern adapts itself and responses with any conditions follow by the rules. This will show how powerful of this pattern, it organizes the shapes, scale and dimensions of all elements within it to express this harmony. 32

Archive buildings normally serve their purpose as the private collection building to support other building like library or gallery which makes it become dead space and monotonous. The proposal will separate some areas which allow for public use and creating the transparent partition between private and public. Moreover, the private storage and public space will interlock each other so visitors can perceive the sense of ‘Back of the House’.

From site there are all residential buildings around it, these building are not high and each building have large are. Also more plants are grow in there. Now there is a new residential buildings start to build, more people will move to this area.

Kellyville used to be home to market gardens from 1800s. Now it becom a semi-rural areas of Kellyville or change to residential buildings. However it still some old traditional design house are keep and some new house are still follow the traditional style.

People in Kellyville have more older Age in there. Lot of Older Couples and Families and Elderly people live in this area.

This site is far from city center, it was a semirural areas and still some are keep acreages. Lot of greenbelt are near the site, it is a residential quarter suburb with a big community. Waste disposal is a regular cause of arguments and conflicts; the improper dumping of refuse and disused household furniture items is of visual and social detriment to the public space of the surrounding streets.

Heterotopias has heterogeneity characteristic of utopias but it exists in the real world. heterotopias are a real space. People feel from inside of space and refeel out side envirment.

For age structure and area reason, lifestyle in kellyville are more relax and quite. Lot of education and park in this area.

Heterotopias overlay characteristics of the utopia, upon real world conditions to simultaneously provide two non-hegemonic spatial fields. The architectural typology of the Parliament displays a strong image of Foucault’s heterotopia. Compared to International/Federal politics, petty politics are trivial affairs - born from a community life in which all members are interconnected. Waste disposal is a regular cause of arguments and conflicts; the improper dumping of refuse and disused household furniture items is of visual and social detriment to the public space of the surrounding streets. Recycling, on the other hand, is often a source of neighborhood pride; a symbol of care for the immediate and larger global environment. Bring recycling system into a parliament, recycling things become building material to build parliament itself. Not only structure build by recycling material, the build motion is long continued action. After building come into use, some of the space is still building, people in the community can bring recycle waste to parliament to continue building it or find waste take away.

以回收系统为中心，回收的东西成为建筑材料，建造成社区中心本身。建筑不仅是由循环材料构成的，建筑的运动是长时间的连续动作。建筑投入使用后，一些空间仍在建设中，社区居民可以把回收的垃圾带到中心继续建设或把可重新利用垃圾再生品带走。
