Commander Zook was apparently the second active faculty member to die during the school year.

The dedication speaks for itself.

Founder and president, Colonel Painter appears to be aging well.

So does his school, which more and more reflects his vision and commitment.

This is probably the most outstanding and significant page to appear in any yearbook to date. All five would become Bolles icons; all would achieve remarkable success which would propel them into the Bolles pantheon.

Larry Hirsig and Quinn Barton both served as Chairmen of The Board of Trustees. Barton was valedictorian and the schoolâ€&#x;s first National Merit Scholar.

Canaday returned to Bolles briefly as a teacher, but he would go on to become a distinguished academic and spend his career as a college professor. Chenoweth would spend his life in uniform, in which capacity he became a world renowned painter, producing much military art, including portraits of outstanding military commanders of the last fifty years. All have walked the extra mile for their school and contributed in numerous ways.

The Bolles dock was the grandest and longest dock on the river at that time.

There is no way to document drama and theatre during these early years. There was no curriculum for the arts. This is only the second picture of a drama cast to appear in a yearbook; but judging from the text, there must have been others, probably when some English teacher decided to take on the task.

The Chapel Wardens Association was referenced previously as the first service oriented organization, fully described above; but this picture, together with the text, provides a more complete history.

How about that football helmet!
