Controlled environments, reliable foundations

Pharmaceutical production environments leave no room for uncertainty. Every space must support validated processes, controlled conditions and full traceability. Downtime is unacceptable. Contamination is not an option. Compliance is continuous.

From R&D laboratories to cleanrooms, production suites and packaging facilities, surfaces are exposed daily to intensive mechanical loads, aggressive cleaning regimes and chemical exposure. Floors and wall finishes must perform reliably under pressure, while contributing to hygiene, safety and operational continuity.

Bolidt develops, produces and installs seamless flooring and finishing systems engineered specifically for critical environments. Designed to support validated processes. Built to minimise risk. Proven to perform over time.

The reality of pharmaceutical environments

Pharmaceutical facilities combine strict regulatory frameworks with operational intensity.

Spaces must withstand:

• Frequent disinfection cycles

• Exposure to solvents, acids and cleaning agents

• Continuous traffic from personnel, forklifts and AGVs

• Sensitive equipment and explosion-risk zones

• Ongoing audits and compliance checks

Every detail matters. Surfaces are not aesthetic afterthoughts, they are part of the controlled environment.

Developed for validated performance

Bolidt systems are based on high-performance thermosetting polymers, developed specifically for seamless flooring and wall applications in critical spaces.

Because the systems are applied in liquid form, the result is a seamless, pore-free surface. No joints. No weak transitions. No accumulation zones.

This contributes to:

• Contamination control

• Cleanability and disinfection efficiency

• Long-term mechanical integrity

• Reduced maintenance interventions

Independent microbiological testing has shown that micro-organisms do not thrive on Bolidt systems. The scratch-resistant surface prevents the formation of damage-sensitive areas where contamination could settle.

Mechanical and chemical resistance combined

Pharmaceutical production environments rarely involve just one type of load.

Bolidt systems are engineered to combine:

• High mechanical strength

• Resistance to forklift and pallet traffic

• Impact and abrasion resistance

• Resistance to organic and inorganic acids

• Resistance to solvents, disinfectants and caustics

This combination ensures long-term stability of the surface, even under aggressive cleaning protocols and continuous operational stress.

The result: reliable performance without surface degradation that could compromise hygiene or process continuity.

Electrical safety and process protection

In laboratories, cleanrooms and production areas where powders or solvents are present, electrostatic discharge can present a risk.

Bolidt offers electrically conductive systems designed to dissipate static electricity safely and efficiently. Sensitive equipment and automated systems are protected, while explosion risks are mitigated.

Bolidtop Stato systems conduct without complex earthing constructions, ensuring stable and predictable performance.

All expertise under one roof

In pharmaceutical construction and renovation projects, coordination is critical. Bolidt manages the entire synthetic systems chain in-house - from development and production to specification support, application and long-term maintenance. By keeping every step under direct control, there is no transfer of responsibility and no dependency on third parties.

This integrated approach ensures full material traceability, short communication lines and consistent quality at every stage of the process. It also enables a rapid response when adjustments are required in critical environments.

Pharmaceutical facilities continuously evolve. Production lines are modified, layouts are adapted and expansions take place. Flooring systems must therefore be capable of adapting without disrupting ongoing operations.

Bolidt systems are designed to allow efficient repair, extension and surface renewal without visible transitions. The durable sealing layer can be replaced quickly and with minimal disruption, enabling fast refurbishment while maintaining the integrity of the existing system. This flexibility supports long-term lifecycle management and helps minimize production downtime.

Sustainable and future-focused

Bolidt systems are developed with both performance and environmental responsibility in mind. They are solvent-free and contain no plasticizers, phthalates or PVC. Carefully selected raw materials, combined with efficient production and installation processes, help minimize waste and reduce environmental impact. Their long service life further lowers lifecycle impact and supports sustainable facility management.

In pharmaceutical environments, operational reliability and environmental responsibility are closely connected, both contribute to long-term continuity and controlled performance.

A foundation for reliable pharmaceutical operations

In critical environments, surfaces are not secondary elements but integral components of the operational system. They play a continuous role in safeguarding product integrity, employee safety and regulatory compliance.

Bolidt flooring and finishing systems are engineered to reduce risk, support validated processes and deliver consistent, predictable performance over decades.

In environments where control and reliability are essential, the foundation must meet the same standards.

Performance,

Pharmaceutical environments require more than strength alone. Floors and finishing systems must combine electrical safety, chemical durability, hygienic reliability and the flexibility to adapt to changing processes. Bolidt integrates these performance pillars into engineered systems designed to support validated environments — today and over the long term.

Electrical safety

In pharmaceutical environments, electrostatic discharge can affect sensitive equipment or create explosion risks in areas where powders or solvents are present.

Bolidt offers electrically conductive systems designed to safely dissipate static electricity in laboratories, cleanrooms and production areas. Bolidtop Stato flooring conducts without complex earthing constructions, using a conductive layer in direct contact with the cement-bound subfloor. This ensures predictable and reliable performance in critical zones.

Chemical resistance

Pharmaceutical floors are exposed to acids, alkalis, salts, disinfectants and solvents, often combined with mechanical loads. Bolidt systems are engineered to withstand intensive chemical and mechanical stress without surface degradation, supporting long-term operational continuity.

Chemical resistance is achieved through specially developed polymer compositions that ensure structural stability over time.

Antimicrobial technology

For environments where additional microbial control is required, Bolidt offers patented antimicrobial technology based on mechanical rather than chemical action. Unlike coatings that rely on biocides such as silver salts, this technology inhibits bacterial survival through surface interaction.

Application is always aligned with the specific hygiene strategy of the facility.

Flexibility and refurbishment

Pharmaceutical facilities evolve continuously. Layouts change, processes are upgraded and spaces are reclassified.

Bolidt systems allow for efficient repair, extension and surface renewal without visible transitions. The durable sealing layer can be replaced quickly and with minimal disruption, enabling fast refurbishment while maintaining the integrity of the underlying system.

This supports lifecycle management and reduces downtime during renovations.

Appearance and functional design

While performance is critical, visual clarity and spatial identity also matter. Different zones within a pharmaceutical facility require distinct functional and aesthetic approaches.

Bolidt offers a wide range of colour and finish options to support zoning, orientation and architectural integration, while maintaining long-term colour stability and surface integrity.

For each space a specific application

Mechanical loads in pharmaceutical production range from light foot traffic to intensive forklift and AGV transport. Chemical exposure varies from moderate to severe, sometimes combined met explosion risks. For every combination of mechanical, chemical and electrical requirements, Bolidt provides durable, engineered solutions — continuously developed and refined.

Storage rooms and warehouses

Constant forklift and pallet traffic requires floors that protect the concrete subfloor, prevent dust formation and offer high mechanical strength. Where AGVs or hazardous materials are involved, electrically conductive options are available.

Laboratories and cleanrooms

Cleanrooms must comply with strict particle control standards such as ISO 14644. Bolidt supplies smooth, pore-free systems that support contamination control and intensive cleaning regimes. Where required, conductive finishes mitigate electrostatic or explosion risks. In laboratories, chemical resistance is essential.

Technical spaces

Technical areas house critical installations for air, steam, electricity and climate control. Low-maintenance, dust-binding and durable flooring systems ensure reliability in these heavily serviced spaces.

Loading and unloading areas

Extreme mechanical and abrasive loads demand highly wear-resistant systems with slip resistance in all weather conditions. Drawing on experience in bridge decks and maritime applications, Bolidt delivers exceptionally robust solutions.

Offices

While hygiene demands are lower, cleanability and comfort remain important. Sound reduction, durability and design flexibility contribute to a pleasant working environment.

Showrooms

In representational areas, flooring contributes to atmosphere and brand perception. Bolidt offers a wide range of colours and finishes to match the desired identity.

Recreational areas

Canteens and restaurants combine atmosphere with functionality. Floors must withstand frequent movement of furniture while remaining hygienic and resistant to cleaning agents.

Wet rooms

Toilets, changing rooms and showers require seamless transitions, coved skirting and waterproof wall connections to ensure hygiene and easy cleaning under intensive use.

Car parks and ramps

Parking areas require durable, slip-resistant systems. For ramps, anti-skid finishes and optional heating layers improve safety in all weather conditions.
