Call to Order – Emily Walton Chair, Emily Walton, called the Boise State Public Radio (BSPR) Community Advisory Board (CAB) meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. Approval of March 2016 Meeting Minutes – Emily Walton Susan made a motion to approve the minutes; seconded by Dede. The motion was passed unanimously. Meeting Tom Michael & General Manager Update – Tom Michael Tom gave a brief update on his background at Marfa Public Radio and his first month as General Manager of BSPR. A few highlights that Tom mentioned: • The new Morning Edition host, Matt Guilhem from KVCR in San Bernardino, CA, will begin at the station on September 6th, and you may hear him on Morning Edition training with Scott Graf shortly after. • Dana Miller from the Murdock Charitable Trust will be at BSPR for a site visit in late August- this is after a brief hold on our application until permanent leadership arrived at BSPR. • BSPR is currently being considered, along with Yellowstone Public Radio, KUNC, and others, for CPB funding for a Regional Journalism Collaboration. This would be similar to Northwest News Network, a network that BSPR was previously involved with. • Some current items on Tom’s plate include the goal of increasing localism, assessing the daily affairs talk show, and reviewing the Spring 2016 ratings book from Nielsen. • Tom shared that one of his main goals as he settles into BSPR is ensuring that structure aligns with the long term strategy and vision. Part of reaching this goal includes embracing both editorial partnerships and community partnerships. Discussion of Goals of the CAB – Tom Michael and Emily Walton 1|P age
