***************** Call to Order: Laurie Ahern called meeting to order at 12:06 pm.

Approval of the Previous Minutes: Vicki made a motion to approve the January 8, 2019 minutes and Tyson provided the second. The minutes were approved with unanimity.

Committee Reports Fundraising Committee (Teresa): Teresa provided details of the committee meeting from February 8. A list of donor prospects were circulated for CAB to share their relationships and suggestions for action.

Chelan announced the goal of 30 new Broadcast Society members by the end of the Spring Membership Drive. The committee shared ideas for station tours, coffee meetings, and other welcoming events.

Nominating Committee (Teresa): The nominating committee met twice between these CAB meetings, first on February 6 and again on March 8. Chris reached out to former legislator Leon Smith as a board prospect. There was also a discussion about student participation in the CAB. Advocacy Committee (Vicki): Vicki described the group’s quarterly meetings and how they were exploring events for the year. They would make use of a membership kit that is kept in the Membership department for tabling events. There was discussion of students as volunteers and also about promoting station advocacy on digital platforms. Upcoming events were announced, including the talks at Storyfort talks and classical music concerts by the Piatigorsky Foundation.

University-Station relationship: Chelan presented on our university-station relationship, outlining the roles of our three main partners, Boise State University, University Advancement, and the Boise State University Foundation. In FY19, Boise State University provided $530k in financial support. Chelan spoke about the methods of solicitation, gift fees, and non-cash donations, among other details of these partnerships.

Strategic Planning updates: Tom shared the slides of the internal survey of staff and CAB that is providing the basis for the upcoming discussion on the strategic plan. He outlined the game plan of the strategic consultant, Nico Leone, beginning with an all-day staff session on Friday, then an evening Friday reception for CAB and managers, followed by as all-day Saturday strategic planning workshop. Tom discussed the parallel tracks of addressing workplace culture and outlining our strategy to deal with an uncertain future. The consultant would be guiding strategic planning in three main areas: fundraising, audience, and content Station Update: Tom gave an overview of the first three months at Boise State Public Radio, recapping the Winter Membership Drive, changes in the streaming service, the Another Round event in McCall, and the work the news team and daily show team had done around the legislative session and live broadcasts from the capitals in Idaho and Washington D.C. Conclusion: Laurie adjourned the meeting at 1:15 pm.
