One-day adult education, leisure and social programs offer a variety of opportunities to get out and enjoy Boise and the surrounding area. Come with us and explore the hidden gems in Boise and learn more about our great city. Transportation for programs provided from one or more of the community centers. If minimum enrollment is not met at one site, you may be asked to meet at a different location for transportation. Return times for many programs are approximate as travel and question/ answer time can vary. ** Seating on the shuttle will be based on registration. Please contact the program staff if you have concerns.

ACTIVITY LEVEL GUIDE Some day trips require a lot of standing, walking or climbing stairs. Please refer to the key below for activity level of each activity.

ARTS AND “CRAFTS”

We will have a private docent led tour of the current art installation at Boise Art Museum, then go to lunch at 10 Barrel Brewing to try some “craft” beers. Cost of lunch on your own. BIRDS OF PREY FLIGHT SHOW

The World Center for Birds of Prey is located right here in Boise, ID. See the education birds fly outdoors, where they swoop and soar over the heads of audiences to show off their amazing aerial skills. BOISE ART GLASS

Join us for a tour of the hot shop, glass gallery and a glass blowing demonstration. BOISE ART TOUR

Join the Arts and History Department for a walking tour of public art in downtown Boise. After this tour we will have lunch then go to a tour of James Castle House, a museum showcasing a local artist. Cost of lunch on your own. BRUNEAU SAND DUNES

Visit beautiful Bruneau Dunes and join us for a docent led tour of the visitor center and lunch. For those who are brave enough, take a ride down the dunes on a sled. Must register by Oct 7 for lunch order.

CERAMICA

Relax and socialize while painting an ornament. You may also paint a bowl or other object for yourself. Participants will be responsible for the cost of pieces they choose to paint. Average cost is $11-15 per piece. Cost is for group transportation only.

GEOTHERMAL TOUR

Boise has the largest geothermal heating utility in the country. Join City of Boise geothermal staff to learn more about this natural resource and visit some of the sites.

HARVEST FESTIVAL

We will venture to Emmett to check out the vendors and entertainment at the Emmett Harvest Festival Street Fair.

HIGHLANDS HOLLOW BREWHOUSE

Meet with the brewery owner to learn about Boise’s oldest microbrewery. After the tour we will have dinner and enjoy live music. Cost of dinner is on your own. IDAHO ANNE FRANK MEMORIAL

In preparation for Human Rights Month in December, the library staff will share a presentation on human rights. Then we will tour the Anne Frank Memorial which will be led by the Wassmuth Center for Human Rights. IDAHO BOTANICAL GARDENS LIGHTS AND DINNER

Join us for the brightest event of the season! For over 25 years Winter Garden aGlow has been lighting up the Idaho Botanical Gardens. Join us for dinner at Harris Ranch. Cost of dinner is on your own. Come enjoy the lights and the spirits of the holiday season! IDAHO CITY HOT SPRINGS

Drive up Highway 21 to Idaho City, the first Capitol of Idaho. We will enjoy lunch in Idaho City then soak in the hot springs at The Springs. Cost covers transportation and Hot Springs fees. Lunch cost and snacks at Hot Springs will be on your own. IDAHO STATE MUSEUM

Join us for a docent led tour of Idaho State Museum then lunch at Green Acres Food Truck Park. Cost of lunch is on your own. PAINT & CIDER

We will visit Meriwether Cider House in downtown Boise for an acrylic painting session and a sampling of ciders. Cost of ciders is on your own. Light snacks provided. OLD IDAHO PENITENTIARY

Join us on a guided tour of this Idaho historical site where our guide will share stories and information about the history of the building and inmates who lived there. Then join us for lunch at the Trolley House. Cost of lunch is on your own.

Pumpkin Patch

OKTOBERFEST

We will visit Payette Brewing for their annual Oktoberfest celebration. Cost of food, drink or vendors is on your own. PHOSPHORUS REMOVAL FACILITY

Continuing our tour of Public Works operations, we will visit the Phosphorous Removal Facility. This innovative project enhances water quality of the Boise and Snake rivers. After the tour we will stop for lunch in Caldwell. Cost of lunch is on your own. NEW PUMPKIN PATCH

Visit the largest pumpkin patch in Idaho. This operating farm is home to the Scottish highlander cattle and offers sweet corn picking, horse rides, train rides, corn crib and more. SCENTSY LIGHTS & DINNER

Every year Scentsy decorates the grounds, known as “The Commons” with over 100,000 lights, providing a spectacular display for the public to enjoy. After visiting the display we will stop for dinner at Louie’s Pizza & Italian Restaurant. Cost of dinner is on your own. SUNSET CRUISE

We will travel to McCall for dinner and stroll around town then take a sunset cruise around Payette Lake. Cost of dinner is on your own.

LIFETIME AND LEISURE BONUS PROGRAMS

Many fun events are not advertised until just before they happen. Sometimes interest

grows for a specific activity after the schedule has been printed. The BONUS programs are

one additional program announced each month where we will provide transportation and

NEW SWAN FALLS DAM

Swan Falls Dam is one of the oldest hydroelectric dams in the Idaho Snake River and still powers thousands of homes. Join us for a tour provided by Idaho Power. After the tour we will have lunch in Melba.

NEW TRACTOR TOUR

Join the Tractor Doctor at JUMP Boise for a tour of the vintage steam engines and tractors dating as far back as 1885. NEW VOICEBOX

Join us in a private suite for karaoke then for dinner in downtown Boise. Cost of drinks and dinner is on your own. WEISER CLASSIC CANDY & LUNCH

Join us in exploring the largest family-owned winery in Idaho, 3 Horse Ranch Winery. Producing multiple award-winning wines, this vineyard is a great one to visit. Tasting fee is $10 per person. Please plan to bring cash. Appetizers will be provided. WINERY TOUR – Split Rail

Split Rail Winery is in the heart of Garden City. Join us for a tasting at this local winery that’s been in Garden City for 12 years and learn why locals call it unique and rad.

YANKE MOTOR MUSEUM

Yanke Motor Museum is the only motor museum in Idaho, containing a variety of vintage automobiles, motorcycles, washing machines and other vintage toys.
