MEET WALT COOK: 2018 CONNECTOR OF THE YEAR Walt brought in a big sum of new member dues which earned him $1,899, plus the recognition of a job well-done by the Chamber! Thanks to our many Connectors, the Chamber gained 51 new members during 2017. We couldn’t do it without your help! All Chamber members can refer a qualified new member lead to our membership team, and when the referral prospect joins the Chamber, a commission is paid back to the referring member. The person with the top amount of connections for the month will also receive a $75 gift card to one of our members’ businesses! Walt Cook has been involved with the Chamber for 35 years and is going on his 18th year as an ambassador. “Everything about the Chamber I believe in — being involved in the community, networking, and offering a strong support system. A lot of this area’s success can be attributed to the Chamber’s efforts. I think one of the Chamber’s greatest accomplishments is its staff. The Chamber hires the right people and offers countless opportunities to grow.” In 2019, Walt will begin his new role as ambassador president.

Meet Connie Miller: A True Business Icon & Devoted Leader Connie is currently the president/CEO of Icon Credit Union. Connie was honored as one of Idaho’s six CEOs of Influence in 2014 by the Idaho Business Review for her leadership, integrity, vision, commitment to excellence, diversity, and influence. Connie has led Icon Credit Union to a Top 200 Credit Union from almost 6,000 credit unions in the nation, and was recently named a recipient of Excellence in Finance for 2017 by the Idaho Business Review. Connie Miller graduated from Boise State University with a bachelor's in business administration in accountancy. She started her career at the Girl Scouts of Silver Sage Council, working for 12 years as their accountant. Connie has worked for two credit unions for 22 years as a senior executive and received her graduate level certification from Western CUNA Management School. She was promoted to president/CEO of Icon Credit Union in 2008. In addition to the CEO of Influence for 2014, Connie was also awarded the Thanks Badge II in 2014 — the highest award in the Girl Scouts — for her exemplary service to the Girl Scout organization. Connie, a graduate of Leadership Boise, was recently named the 2017 Idaho Advocate of the Year by the Northwest Credit Union Association and was appointed to the Twelfth District of the Federal Reserve Bank’s Community Depository Advisory Council. In addition, Icon Credit Union has been awarded one of the Best Places to Work the past several years. She has three adult sons and an incredibly supportive husband, Neil, of 34 years.
