We continue to source A.I. sires and select herd sires that work for you and us. We build our herd retaining their daughters. Our ideal animal is a moderate framed, quiet, easy calving yet possesses heavy muscle, feet and sound all around. We offer cattle specifically bred to meet the tough economic realities of today’s commercial herds. They will work hard for you and make you happy come fall run. Dennis has some awesome calving ease bulls this year, would be nice to have 50 of them!!

Calving 2018 was a brute. We will all agree 2019 has been so much better.

What a privilege to invite you to our Bull Sale! We are grateful for the support of all of our customers, our mentors, our sale partners, and all the outstanding people in this industry that we are lucky enough to work with.

We are very proud of this year’s line-up of bulls. We’ve raised the bar again and you’ll see it in their EPDs, pedigrees and visually. We continue to breed for calving ease with growth and performance, docility, and picture-perfect udders and feet. Despite this year’s very dry conditions in our area, we were pleased with the weaning weights this fall and how well their dams kept their condition. I selected Redemption as my go to A.I. bull for heifers again this year; just nothing out there with his kind of numbers. Redemption’s EPD’s are still one of the best; he is in the Top 1% & 2% for BW, YW, CE, MCE, and Marbling and with accuracy’s of +90% he is a true calving ease performance bull, with awesome maternal traits. He was also the #1 selling A.I. sire for Genex and also the Red Angus breed #1 registration sire in 2018 for North America. Back in 2014 when we purchased APEX we knew he was a good bull but we didn’t know how good. Well after 3 calf crops and females now milking you really find out how good a bull truly is. With his dark deep cherry red color with pigmented feet he passes that on nicely but where he truly has shined is in Calving EASE. He went from a -1.2 BW to a -4.3 BW (Top 5% averaging 81lbs on calves). Also on CE went from a +7.0 to a +12.0 (now top 1%). His Yield grade, Ribeye and Fat are all in the top 10% too. He has ultimately changed our herd to the better.

We had only kept Oasis as a spare and had not used him for a couple of years. But standing in the pen with our cows you just can’t help to notice how the Oasis females just stand out as mother cows with good milk, good udders and feet that are correct and true. These daughters have surprised me with their performance and maternal quality’s. Phenotypically they are what we at Yarrow Creek are definitely looking for into the future. He’s also in the top 1% for REA. This is the last year Oasis calves as we had to let him go. His calves are averaging 87 lbs BW. We had selected a 116B a Mama’s Boy son from U2 to carry on the Mama’s Boy 167X line as I was really impressed with bulls. 116B is definitely following in his sire’s foot steps.

His calves are averaging 80lbs and having YW index’s of 106; so we know these calves perform. He is also a good carcass bull with EPD’s at 8%, 9% & 8% in Yield Grade, REA, and Fat. You don’t find many bulls with those kind of carcass numbers in ALL those traits. He’s definitely a carcass grade improver.

I selected Seedstock as my A.I sire on my cows this year to improve the maternal side of my herd. Blackcap May 4136 is a tremendous donor cow that is perfect in every way.

If you look at most of the top SAV Herd bulls out there, chances are Blackcap May 4136 is in the pedigree. I have been blown away with the stoutness and dimension of his offspring. There’s no sacrifice of performance in his calves either- he seems to be the whole package!

I don’t normally have any of these outcross bulls but I wanted to try a few cows on the great JL Generation 6069 bull Linda bought from Johston’s Livestock in SK. Tremendous bull; usually a heifer bull but when I crossed him with my Red’s hybrid vigor kicked in and we got a little more birth weight than anticipated.

Good performance though top 8% WW, 10% YW, 7% REA, and 9% Carcass. Use him with confidence on your cows.

Certificates of Registry: A certificate of registry will be duly transferred to the buyer by the breeder for each bull after complete and full payment has been made.

Cattle Inspection & Identification: CCIA tags will be in all bulls. All bulls will be available for inspection prior to the sale.

Fertility: All yearlings will be scrotal measured and palpated prior to the sale and all yearling purchases will be semen tested prior to delivery.

All bulls will meet or exceed breed standards.

Breeding Guarantee: We guarantee to provide you with a sound breeding bull, capable of passing a breeding soundness evaluation performed by a licensed veterinarian. In the unlikely event of any dispute, the regular terms and conditions that are standard with the Canadian Angus and Canadian Simmental Associations shall apply. Customer satisfaction is paramount to us.

Delivery of Bulls: We will offer free delivery within 200 km. of home; after that at cost. Delivery on the yearlings will commence early April unless prior arrangements have been made with the seller.

Post Sale Bull Development: We will winter your yearling bull purchases free of charge until April 1, 2019. After that, feed at cost of $2/head/day will be charged. All bulls returning to the consignors’ must be insured. All bulls will be housed at buyers’ risk, the consignors will not be responsible for any type of injury while the bulls are in their care.
