Welcome from Westgold Farms Ltd.

Welcome to the third annual Westgold Farms bred heifer sale. This set of breds are the best I have offered to date as I continue to buy some of the best bulls in the breed. Every bull that walks my pastures was the high seller from his sale including the $150,000 LFE Explorer 388C, who on the day he was purchased was the highest priced red Simmental bull ever purchased in Canada. LRX Wallbanger 73Z is as good as any bull in the breed and has been used exclusively here. RKTS Colossus 11A could walk any purebred herd. KHG Westgold Royal 131B and Westgold Red Chief 136Y along with the bulls mentioned above are as good as any A.I. sires. JDF Soul Seeker 11B is sired by Stubby and his dam is JDF Pepsi 61U, the dam to Harvie JDF Wallbanger 111X who is the sire to Captain Morgan who is the sire to Captain Scream. You can see how deep the blood runs in my herdsires. All purebred herdsires are homo polled as well.

This spring I purchased three new heifer bulls with this sale in mind and used one proven heifer bull. All bulls were selected with quality and calving ease in mind and were sired by breed leading A.I. sires and once again all were high sellers.

As far as selection goes “you the buyer” will do the selection as I’m offering every 2018 bred. I certainly have mixed feelings about this as many should never leave the farm. Thus many will enter the ring in pairs and “you the purchaser” will take your choice and the other will come home. Many of the females purchased from Westgold Farms have gone on to do great things for their new owner including KHG Talia 45Y, the dam on LFE Explorer 388C who also raised a feature bull for Lewis Farms prior to Explorer.

All females are on a full health program and are up to date on all their shots.

What a way to start off the red section with these two red heifers. Both have been farm favourites since they were just calves and here they are now as beautiful breds. Shayna is dark red, wide topped, deep bodied and clean fronted. Her dam has always had heifer calves, two have been kept in herd and her 2018 calf is at the top of this year’s pen.

I thought so much of her two year old daughter that I flushed her this spring and got 15 # one embryos. Shayna will do great things for her new owner and will probably become a donor cow herself.

Sired by the $150,000 LFE Explorer 388C and mothered by an outstanding beautifully uddered young cow I don’t know which is the best 76E above or 223E. They were shown twice this summer in a pen of three (with 104E), placed well and were admired by many. Maralee is very broody, big ribbed, has a clean front and a beautiful, feminine head. Would make an excellent show prospect.

This heifer is a powerful heifer in the right kind of package.

She is very long, deep and wide but not tall. Sired the the $27,000 high selling bull at the Premium Beef Sale in Neepawa MB, and out of an extremely strong, thick cow, Chaundra’s quality is no fluke.
