All bulls sell in their entirety but Westway/Deeg reserves the right to collect semen on any bull that is offered in the sale for in herd use only. This is at Westway/Deeg’s cost and the buyer’s convenience.

DELIVERY AND BOARD

Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as it is sold. Insurance is available sale day. Bulls returning to Westway/Deeg’s for later delivery must be insured. Free Delivery to central points in Western Canada. Bulls may be kept at Westway/Deeg’s free of charge until April 15th.

REMEMBER: If you bring your trailer and take your bull(s) home sale day you receive $100 off of the purchase price of your bull(s). Heifers are excluded from this discount.

Welcome to the 13th Annual WD Bull Sale. 2015 proved to be a challenging one for our family personally with Carol’s dad suffering a stroke and her mom passing just before Christmas. It also proved to be one of great joy with the arrival of Dayna and Caith’s baby girl Carter in June. She takes us all to a very happy place when we are around her!! I have always said that if I could relive any stage of my life it would be when my kids were little. Well guess what you get the next best thing when you become a grandparent!! So much joy and such a blessing for our family. Roger you were so right when you said being a grandparent gives you so much happiness!!!

Now to cattle business. We are extremely excited with the bulls we are offering in this year’s sale. The cattle business remains strong and we have tried to stay on top of our breeding program so that we can offer you the very best.

Selecting sires to use on our herd is very serious decision making for us. This year we have a strong offering of bulls sired by a select group of sires that produced a unique set of consistent bulls. We are proud to stand behind these fellas. As most of our customers know, we run a strong maternal cow herd of moderate framed cows that are productive, have good feet and good udders. We feel our bull quality is solid with performance built on great genetics.

WFL Sweet Licious 1044X was Josie’s 4-H female and is a red, deep bodied, powerhouse female that has been a stand out since she was a heifer calf. Sweet Licious is a full sib to WFL Identity who is an easy calving AI bull. Last year WFL Sweet Licious had bulls sell to Oakview Simmentals from Darlingfield MB, and Garth Dorin from Olds, AB. We are extremely excited about these three brothers.

We really like him for his overall completeness and his strong maternal pedigree. His dam WFL Ms Red Doll 9072w is one of our Flush cows. She is a red white- faced cow that is a farm favourite. She is clean in her make-up and has that good Crossfire foot under her with an excellent udder. This is her fourth bull calf to sell in the sale and her consistency in calves is amazing. WFL 4C is an ET out of Redge and WFL Red Doll 6016S. Red Doll was most definitely a core cow to our red herd. We have numerous daughters and grand- daughters in our herd that are functional, good producing females. Some of these daughters have even turned out to be flush cows for us so its rewarding to see so much come from this cow! This will be the last direct son to sell from her and this will also be Red Doll’s 7th son to sell in the Bull Sale. WFL 4C is a long bodied, dark red, high performing bull that we are excited to offer. Sons of WFL 6016s have sold to Hoppins Farms of Huxley, Greenview Farms of Didsbury, Arrow Creek Simmental of Rossburn MB, W2 Farms of Leroy SK, and Lost Creek Enterprises Ltd of Fort Steele BC.

WFL 63C is our only red Lights son this year. He is smooth fronted, very deep, and soggier made. He has tons of hair and is dark cherry red. This guy has lots of volume and is structurally sound. His dam goes back to the great Hinsdale breeding.

WFL 34C is one of the favourite black MRL 172Z son’s. He is out of a sound black Edge daughter. He is deep through his flank and forerib.

Welcome to the 13th edition of our bull & female sale. We would really like to thank all the bidders & buyers from past years, your support of our program is greatly appreciated & is what drives us to continually improve our cattle.

2015 was another great year to be in the cattle business. Producers were again rewarded for using better genetics, good management, marketing, hard work and perseverance. Enjoy these good times we have all earned it!

Around here the biggest event for 2015 was the safe arrival of Katie and Jordan’s beautiful daughter Brynn on September 17th. I think Dane likes her almost as much as he loves his cows. It is very encouraging to see such a youngster be so keen to see his cows daily!

Our offering consists of about 35 yearling, red & black polled bulls. Our walking herd sires sire most of the bulls on offer. We invest heavily in these bulls and its rewarding to see that they are leaving sons that are good footed, deep bodied, wide topped, big nutted and hairy. Their daughters are functional females that calve easily, milk well with good udders while maintain condition. Once again we will have big rugged performance bulls as well as calving ease specialists with extra go. We have 13 heifers on offer and they are a sweet group to say the least.

Our bulls are all semen tested and fully guaranteed. Its not necessary to bring a trailer to the sale as we prefer to take the bulls back home and deliver them at a later date, usually in April, at no charge to the buyer.
