All bulls sell in their entirety but Westway/Deeg reserves the right to collect semen on any bull that is offered in the sale for in herd use only. This is at Westway/Deeg’s cost and the buyer’s convenience.
Delivery and Board
Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as it is sold. Insurance is available sale day. Bulls returning to Westway/Deeg’s for later delivery must be insured. Free Delivery to central points in Western Canada. Bulls may be kept at Westway/Deeg’s free of charge until April 15th. REMEMBER: If you bring your trailer and take your bull(s) home sale day you receive $100 off of the purchase price of your bull(s). Heifers are excluded from this discount.

Customers are what makes the bull business rewarding and we thank all the cattle producers who have supported us over the years ----- you are very much appreciated!! Knitting Nina, one of the hockey moms on Josie’s hockey team, referred to our bulls as the “Bachelors” and was wondering if I got all their “bios” done. Guess what I was doing at the arena during hockey practice?? Loved this reference …it made me giggle because it really is true…so my pet name for the bulls will now be the bachelors. The bachelors are doing awesome and Westway is geared up to bring another great set of bulls to town. This year we are excited to offer sons from Muirhead’s Lights Out, Blackedge, LFE Crossfire, Redge, Tom Cat, WFL 16Y and WFL 32Y. The West Cross bulls are probably one of the best set of West Cross bulls we have offered for sale. The pedigree of Blackedge/Redge runs deep in our offering and those boys have done a great job influencing the Westway herd. These bulls come from functional mama cows because that is where we believe a program has to start. Cows with good udders, excellent temperments and cows that are structurally sound. The kids halter broke him this summer and took him to Summer Synergy and showed him as a calf. LFE Crossfire makes the right type of cattle – moderate made with with tons of performance. In 2012 a high selling Crossfire son sold to Pearson Simmentals. Crossfire sons have been very well received by both purebred and commercial cattlemen. The 365T females are extremely functional in our herd. A very sweet Crossfire heifer, WTW Sweet T, sold in Checkers 2012 to Meadow Acres and Dallas Kruger. Muirhead’s said he was a bull with a huge future and he is in fact that! The Lights Out sons are like their Papa demonstrating all his traits…. Awesome E.P.D’s , moderate birthweights, performance and growth, lots of rib, width, soundness and good hair. It is also important to recognize the maternal power Lights carries. WFL Mr. Westway 12A is sired by the Lights bull and his dam and the 1A dam are full siblings as they are two ET sisters sired by Redge. These dams go back to the Red Licious Cow Family and Licious offspring have been well received in the breed. We admired WFL 12A’s dam so much that we added her to our flush program last year. Some worthy genetics for consideration in this bull – he is certainly built on performance and weaned off his mom at 1027 lbs. The kids also showed this bull as a calf this summer.

We are focusing on the future; it’s hard not too as our family expanded on January 23 when Katie and Jordan had their baby boy Dane Kayson. WOW, what a rush it is to have your first grandchild! Someone asked if I felt old being a grandpa now and I said not really, it actually doesn’t seem like 42 years ago since we started breeding Simmental. The rewards have been many and the friendships great. The future is also bright for the cow business and if you don’t think so, check out the current cattle prices; you have to try pretty hard to be pessimistic these days. To our customers we extend a heartfelt thank you, your support is very much appreciated and never taken for granted here. We have been working hard over the years to moderate frame, strengthen udders, ensure fertility, keep the color solid and consistent and to make ‘em all polled; in short produce cattle that are compatible with the commercial industry which is the lifeblood of our operation. We invest heavily in herd sires and we feel the new sires like Cobra, Horizon and Super Duty have bred well. We have a strong offering with a great selection of moderate framed, lighter birth weight bulls as well as big time performance power bulls. We are confident in our line up of bulls as they are bred and raised with our commercial customers in mind. We back our bulls completely and will be with you for the long haul. As the first Horizon bull calf born here this bull hasn’t disappointed. The amount of depth there is to this guy is astounding, even more so when you get him on the move. He strides out very well, large ribbed and crazy soft middled. His dam is an impressive female that has a daughter in herd that is a spitting image of her. She has an absolute gorgeous udder and very correct in her structure.

This year again we have a group of heifers that is right out of the middle of our replacement pen. We feel that these heifers will go on to make great momma cows. If they weren’t in the sale they would be going back into our herd. This year we have some new genetics and we feel that with these the quality is up over previous years. There are a couple Cobra’s that are stylish and are destined to make good cows. The Muirhead 60X daughters that we are calving right now have perfect udders, great disposition and calve easy. We know what the Gunner cows are like and they are awesome and the 11X daughters should follow the same footsteps. The Choreboy daughters we have are just amazing. Last but not least the Horizon females are just sweet as calves, it’s going to be exciting to see them grow into cows.
