34 consecutive bull sales and over 50 years in the registered cattle business is something that we are very proud of. Thank you to our great customers for their continued support, it is truly appreciated!
The cattle business is continually evolving and moving forward. It has been great to see the optimism in the industry and prices trending in the right direction. Fingers crossed that some timely rains and maybe a few more frequent rains are in store for 2024. We are constantly working towards making these cattle more efficient and problem free. Culling has become very simple and straightforward with limited feed supplies. No excuses! Either be productive or you can go down the road. The bulls this year we feel are a very strong and consistent group. They are backed by quality dams and cow families that have been very productive for us. We continue to seek out industry leading sires through semen packages as well as walking herd sires. Many of the bulls are also sired by bulls bred and raised right here at SVS. We are very proud of how these bulls have bred here and throughout the industry! It is very gratifying to see the strong SVS influence in so many different programs.
The bulls are on a full herd health program and will be semen tested. They have been developed responsibly on a balanced TMR under the guidance of BeefSmart Consulting.

A sale continued on for generations and over 3 decades does not just happen. Their strict artificial insemination practices give you the opportunity to step into alot of 1/2 and 3/4 brothers to utilize in your program to breed consistency into your calf crop as well as acquire both hard to obtain and proven genetics. The bulls on offer sired by the powerful set of walking herd bulls at SVS are truly impressive. Their herd bull battery is as deep as anywhere you’ll travel and shows in their bull pen with many of them sired by bulls that walk and breed here. The 2024 sale bulls are truly the ranchers’ kind. Homo Polled. SVS Detective 6L is easy to find in the bull pen and has already been admired by some top cattlemen. His tremendous length of body, big hip, sound structure and good foot make him very easy to like. He has been one of the heavy weights in the pen and weaned off at 1020 lbs in early September. His dam, 68F, does not miss as 6L is her 4th straight bull in the bull sale. The first three sons selling to D&D Cattle, Lyndhurst Farms and Siroski Simmentals. Homo Polled. SVS Omaha 40L is a moderate, beef bull that you really have to appreciate for his type and kind. No, he does not have the performance that his brothers have, which could partially be the fault of his recip mother, but I see a lot of potential in this bull. His EPD’s are tremendous and he could have a future as a calving ease bull. There is no doubt he will leave a tremendous set of daughters. I have a lot of faith in this bull and believe that with the pedigree he possesses he will be a strong breeding bull.

His awesome hair coat, excellent foot and tremendous set of EPD’s make him a must see in my opinion. We think he has the potential to work in the heifer pen and will be able to replace his great sire in our AI program. Doc and his two brothers are definitely the right kind and there are three full sisters in the replacement pen that are arguably the top three heifers in the pen. Doc is worth your consideration if you are in the market for a calving ease bull that will sire calves with performance, hair, structure and quality.

He is very similar in type to his brothers with a notch more frame and added stoutness. These brothers are going to be tremendous breeding bulls. The combination of Maverick and Bond in his pedigree gives him a high degree of calving ease. Homo Polled. Sunny Valley Lincoln 67L has been one of my favorite bulls all along and for good reasons. He is sired by the $200,000 Loyalty and out of a good Tribute daughter from our Desire cow family. In many of the past sales the Desire cow family has put top end bulls through the sale. Usually they were black. This year the red side of the family decided to step up and have a couple. 66L & 67L are both from the Desire family and the results are very similar to the blacks. Top end sons that are real easy to like with everything we look for in a herdsire. They are definitely worth a look.

Homo Polled. SVS Stockman 35L is exactly the type of bull we envisioned producing when we invested in an exclusive semen package on Loyalty. Now his picture is average, but 35L is way above average. We really like this bull and considering his rough start to life we think he will continue to get better with age. His dam developed mastitis last spring and only ended up feeding 35L on 2 quarters. She has been a very good producer for us, raising SVS Triumph, a high seller to Pheasantdale Cattle, as well as another daughter we retained. 35L is a really complete individual that is worth a second look.

Homo Polled. SVS Backroad 54L is quite possibly the most intriguing bull on offer this year. He is a tremendous individual! Stout, beefy, big ribbed, soggy, square hipped, sound and has an excellent big foot. His EPD’s are way above average and his actual performance is incredible. He is #1 at both weaning and yearling. His pedigree is different and exciting for a red bull. Slider is a consistent calving ease bull that has bred really well for us. 54L’s mother is a first calf Dynasty daughter that we are really excited about. She is a true power female, big bodied, good footed and a really nice udder. She will be a big part of our program moving forward. As for 54L I can see him cutting a big swath throughout the industry. He is a bull that we would sure use in our program.

SVS Gunfighter 49L is a really thick made son of the outcross sire, Favor. We really like our Favor calves and have more on the ground in 2024. 49L is a good looking, smooth made bull that is out of our top Captain Morgan daughter. 629D is an extremely impressive cow who has been really productive. The Eileen cow family has put a lot of really good bulls into both purebred and commercial programs.

Homo Polled Homo Black. Favor 17L is out of a good easy doing cow that we purchased from City View Simmentals. She is a product of their Raven cow family that has worked so well. 11G was one of the lead off females at the Red & Black Sale the year we purchased her. She has not missed with two daughters being retained in the herd and 17L. With Favor as his sire 17L should throw an easy to sell group of calves that pack the extra pounds.

Homo Polled. Walker 84L is a moderate framed beef bull. Loads of substance in an eye appealing package. It comes as no surprise that he has become one of the top bulls in the pen. He is sired by the great Walk This Way bull that has done such an outstanding job here at Sunny Valley and throughout the entire industry. His dam 1E, is a member of the Desire cow family and has produced two full brothers in past sales that have both been very well received. The first sold to Caledonia Simmentals and the next topped the black division to Kline Simmentals. We have just one daughter of hers that we anxiously await to calve this year. Walker is an interesting calf with great EPD’s and a lot of potential.
