Welcome to the 31st Annual Sunny Valley Simmentals Bull & Female Sale. We are excited to host
you for the first time at the ranch! Moving the sale home is something we have always wanted to do and given the situation in the world today we felt the time was right. Having the sale at home will benefit the bulls and females the most by being able to stay in their home pens without the stress of hauling them to Saskatoon. Also new this year, the sale will be conducted by video with the cattle being penned right outside the barn for viewing. This too will make the day easier for the cattle. The cattle look best in their home environment and we are excited for everyone to view them! This year’s offering is one that we are very proud of with many of the bulls being sired by our past high sellers. We like using our own sires as we know more about them, their development and the cow family behind them. These bulls are not just excelling in our program but throughout the entire industry. We are very proud of the job the Sunny Valley bulls are doing in the industry. The offering this year is diverse genetically and full of fresh new pedigrees for our repeat customers. Year in and year out, the Sunny Valley program has been getting it done by offering the very elite genetics to the industry to enhance the breed. The passion they have for breeding excellence is incomparable as they have lived and breathed Simmental cattle for decades on end. This desire has propelled their program into a world recognized source for the very best genetics and they have done it once again with this 2021 offering as it is impressive to say the least. Betts commanded $120,000 two years ago through the Sunny Valley Sale and he has gone on to be one of the very best breeding bulls the industry has ever seen. The first set of daughters averaged $18,250 last fall and the sons on offer here are extremely strong and don’t disappoint. Not to be outdone by Betts, the awesome breeding Tycoon bull sold right after and commanded $77,500 and has been an exceptional breeder as well. Both bulls are enhancing the programs that utilize them and it is a great testament of the quality that you find here. The entire 2021 red bull offering is deep in quality to say the least and you won’t be disappointed when touring this pen as the generations of pedigree have bred on and give you multiple options of bulls to select from. The black bull program is always sought after and many stem back to the $190,000 Captain Morgan that is still considered one of the great breeding bulls the breed has ever seen. The addition of Walks This Way has been a wise investment and his foot quality, udder strength and maternal value has been admired. This is an offering of power bulls with a calving ease option as well and the cow family strength throughout is to be admired. The black offering is select on numbers but same strong quality that we’ve all seen from this program and there are certainly some special individuals in the section. This fullblood section at Sunny Valley always kicks out big time herd bulls for commercial and purebred breeders alike. Homo Polled. Another Betts son that is huge muscled, dark red and has really good feet. 39H is easy to find in the pen for his explosive muscle, imagine a pen full of steers with his butt end! Homo Polled. Heston may not be the biggest bull in the pen but he will catch your eye quite quickly. He is sired by SVS Betts who has proven to produce the right kind everywhere he has been used. Homo Polled. The name Tank certainly fits for 53H. He is a moderate framed Tank. It’s hard to believe you can pack this many pounds into his moderate frame. Tank was the number one bull in his group for adjusted weaning weight at 962 lbs. and has continued to perform with an adjusted yearling weight of a whopping 1628. His Deputy mother comes from the same cow family as our high selling bred and calf at Simmsational last fall as well as producing the Sunny Valley Pride bull that sold to East Popular Simmentals and the Sunny Valley Wise Guy bull that worked so well for Workman’s in Manitoba. The easiest way to add pounds to your calf crop is by adding length and Titan should supply that, The Amber Jack daughters are calving here now and they are making the kind of cows we like. A full sister just calved here a week ago and is a beautiful first calver with an excellent udder. He didn’t make the sale that year because of an injury but recovered enough for us to use him a bit ourselves. His dam had the potential to be a top cow with an excellent showy udder however because of health reasons she is no longer with us. She was a Gambino daughter out of a full sister to Captain Morgan.
