There is a lot of history behind the Ottawa Valley Simmental Club and we are excited to be back for an in person event, working together with the group to continue building the legacy. This strong group of breeders continues to step up and offer their best consignments and push the quality higher and higher. Breeders who have invested in Stars Of The Valley purchases have had success with the cattle - herd building females, cornerstone donors, and for 2022 an exciting red herdsire that will make an impact. The 2022 offering is extremely high quality and we were thoroughly impressed with the animals found on our tours - there are a ton of good Simmental cattle in a close geographic area!
The quality of the cattle is evident throughout this catalog, but the quality of the breeders involved is what truly has given this sale staying power. Lady was one of the feature red bred heifers in the 2019 Border City Sale.This young cow is phenotypically very pleasing to the eye and moves out very freely on an awesome set of feet and legs. Lady is a very moderate framed cow with a high quality udder.Lady’s Tycoon heifer calf was one of the feature calves in the 2021 edition of Stars of the Valley sale selling to Tyler McCann. Cows like Lady are rarely offered for sale other than dispersal sales. This heifer is out of a great cow that I purchased at the club sale from Gerald Donovan. Her mother was one of Gerald’s show cows. She has a bit of frost bite on her ears, but this will not stop her from producing some of the best Simmentals in the valley. The service sire, Highball, was purchased from the Hanover sale two years ago and he has grown into a great example of a Simmental bull, 2 googles and deep, deep red. He has excellent calving ease numbers and we used him last year on 4 of our heifers and all calved out unassisted. Once those calves hit the ground they sure did grow. He is the sire for all three of our offerings and we expect the calves to be beautiful examples of good breeding.

Harmony is an Esposito daughter, polled with a longer spine and moderate build. She will be a strong milker like her mom and have a picture perfect udder. She’s quiet and should be a great producer and will be a fantastic addition any herd. She goes back to the Zegna family at Ferme Gagnon, and was bred to Hefner. So far I’m very happy with Hefner’s calves, they come easily with lots of performance, googles and that polled head provides the possibility of a homo polled calf..

Jenny is smooth polled, moderate female but doesn’t lack in performance. She’s a little more compact but will still wean heavy calves. Her sire, FGAF Esposito, is the full brother to FGAF Electric Avenue, who has set a great reputation. She has a very solid pedigree and her dam always has a good calf. She is quiet, smooth walking, good feet on her, and should have very nice udder as well. JSTR 16K is a granddaughter of the great Amber cow we purchased with Doug Milne-Smith at the Quebec Elite sale a few years ago. The Amber cow family are all gorgeous red heads that are built for the show ring, and are racking up their banner collection. 16K’s 2 year old Westcott dam is very impressive and will be shown this fall. She has outdone herself with her first calf. We love the Summit calves, they come easy and always have a lot of substance and a super quiet disposition. 16K will make an excellent junior project and no doubt will develop into an outstanding cow just like the other Ambers!

Transportation charges on animals returned to the seller are for account of the purchaser. No incidental expenses such as feed, AI signing fees, interest, veterinary charges, etc. will be charged by either party when making settlement. If the seller is successful in proving the animal is a breeder, then said animal will be reclaimed by the purchaser at his expense. Should the seller fail to so prove the animal a breeder, then the buyer will be guaranteed a satisfactory replacement F.O.B. ranch or location or original or a refund of the purchase price paid F.O.B. selling point. In no event shall the seller be responsible for more than the purchase price. Should a dispute arise over the quality of a replacement animal, the Sale Management will appoint a mediator.

The proper registration or recordation paper, as the case may be, will be duly transferred and furnished to the buyer for each animal after settlement has been made.

Cows represented as being “pregnancy tested safe” have been examined and declared safe in calf by a licensed veterinarian and will be accompanied by a veterinarian’s certificate to this effect. They are considered breeders without further guarantee. Cows and heifers represented as “bred” are not guaranteed safe in calf, but they and open heifers selling as individual lots are guaranteed as breeders. No guarantee shall apply to suckling calves. In the event a female is claimed to be a non-breeder and after having been bred regularily to a bull known to be a breeder and after having been treated by a licensed veterinarian, the matter must be reported in writing to the seller within six months of the sale date. For heifers under twelve months of age who were purchased as single lots and who fail to conceive to the service of a bull known to be a breeder, the matter must be reported to the seller before the heifer reaches eighteen months of age. The seller shall have six additional months in which to prove any such female a breeder and may use any registered bull of the breed available to him. Any female returned will be at the purchaser’s risk. No guarantee is given that a pregnant female will deliver live calves, nor that she will carry calves to full term, nor that the calf will not be mummified. The seller is not repsonsible for damage caused by foreign bodies after the animal has been sold. Nor for sickness not apparent at sale time.

Resale of animals following the purchase in this sale shall constitute a separate transaction and the rights and obligations of the two parties concerned thereto are not covered by the terms and conditions of the sale.

Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as it is sold. Animals will be cared for at the purchaser’s risk for a reasonable length of time.
All animals will have passed the required tests as determined by Agriculture Canada at the sale location. It is the buyer’s responsibility to determine health requirements for importing any animals into their province or state. Sales Management assumes no responsibility for the health status of any animal in the sale.
The sale committee requests that potential buyers make credit arrangements with the individual seller prior to the sale.
