2 Shades of Autumn Production & Prospect Sale
With great excitement, we welcome you to the Shades of Autumn in beautiful Houston, BC. It is one of the most picturesque parts of the world and will be highlighted with an unreal sale facility that will be one of the must attend events of 2017 to enjoy great cattle and breeder fellowship. The Belsham family have been some of the most progressive breeders in Canada assembling the most sought after genetics in North America. Themselves along with select guests, welcome you to attend this inaugural event that will feature their very best Angus cattle that will be complimented with select Red Angus, Simmental and Club Calf prospects. Poplar Meadows hasn’t held back and are offering an outstanding selection from the top of their highly-respected program. Just recently at IPE, they were dominant in the Angus and Simmental show by winning majority of the divisions they were in and many of the Jackpot Shows. Since the beginning, winning has always been synonymous with Poplar Meadows as they are always ultra competitive. The pinnacle of their accomplishments would be declared Supreme Champion bull at both FarmFair & Agribition with 2 different bulls, something very few have every accomplished. The impressive group of females in the sale is one of the most dynamic groups to be offered all fall of any breed at auction. The sale is complimented with a strong group of consignments from good friends and fellow breeders to make this a must attend event. The Long, Moon, Beaudette, Jackson and Dolliver families have an exception group of Angus, Red Angus and prospect cattle for your appraisal, we know you’ll be impressed. We do encourage you to make the effort to attend the sale as it will be a great event but if you can’t attend, feel free to contact any of us to acquire some of these highly sought after genetics. We look forward to visiting with you in beautiful BC, it is sure to be an event of 2017! Scott Bohrson Bohrson Sales Management Ltd.

This is probably the toughest one to write about…. Her dam is one of my Mom and Dad’s favorite cows we call Star. The heifer goes back to a purchase my dad made in Oct 1984 from Torro Negro Farms. The Equation cow was purchased as one of the high selling bred heifers in the Crowfoot Dispersal sale. Both of these heifers are soft made with lots of muscle expression. Either way I don’t think you can go wrong.

This would probably be one of the first if not the first SAV Cutting Edge 4587 to sell in Canada. We toured SAV Angus in the spring of 2016 and quickly knew Cutting Edge was the bull I needed to use. This calf is a beginning of March and has tons of grow and muscle shape. The dam’s 2016 daughter is FIRE 17D who is also in the sale. Don’t miss this one she will be a good one.

We are very excited to be a part of the inaugural Shades of Autumn Sale! It is pretty special when you can be a part of a sale with your sister and even more special that we are carrying on our Dad’s legacy! Both Tanya and I grew up with a love for Angus cattle instilled in us by Dad, Frank Strimbold. Our herds both stem from cattle from Mom and Dad. We run 100 cows. 2/3 are registered black Angus and 1/3 are mostly commercial baldies. We both work off the ranch so we strive to raise no fuss easy doing cattle. We have raised mostly all our own females, with the exception of a few we have bought to expand our cow families for our bull buyers. We have carefully selected herd sires from across Canada to allow us to produce a uniform group of females. We are HUGE 4-H and Junior supporters and thoroughly enjoy selling breeding females and steer prospects to local 4-H members. There is nothing more gratifying than watching these future cattleman/woman raising and showing cattle from our ranch. We are offering one bred heifer, two heifer calves and two steer prospects. We really hope you can join us for the sale! Please call if you have any questions or would like more information on any of our lots. 10% discount on purchases to Junior/4-H members.

Welcome to the inaugural Shades of Autumn Sale. Big thankyou to Poplar Meadows for putting this event together! It’s going to be a great weekend in the Bulkley Valley. We have three great females for your selection; two are Sired by Red Wilbar Over the Top 825Z and one bred yearling sired by Red Bieber Roosevelt W384, not many of Roosevelt’s heifers available in Canada. The two 2017 heifers have both been to the show ring, Moon 21E was heifer champion in the BC Angus Gold show in Vanderhoof and 17E certainly held her own. Judge was Levi Jackson. The yearling has been haltered but not shown. All three are from proven females in out herd. We have made our selection carefully and are putting forward three females that would normally stay in our herd. Please don’t hesitate to contact us on any of our females being presented.

Cogan’s dam Red Nine Mile Witchcraft 6N has produced 13 calves for Alan and Lorraine, showing the longevity of that line. The Cogan bull has been used exclusively on our heifers. The feature heifer from Red Moon Angus was named the Angus Heifer Calf Champion at the BC Angus Gold Show in Vanderhoof, and went on to be Reserve Junior Champion under Judge, Levi Jackson. This is a heifer packing a lot or spring of rib and depth of body. Red Moon would like to retain show rights for Farm Fair 2017, if we are able to attend. Dam has proven to be an excellent producer for us with a heifer working in the purebred herd of Glenn and Denise Stewart. Red Moon Tubee 21Z, the Dam has a very nice udder with an excellent set of feet and legs under her. Our cattle are bred to walk more than flat grassland pasture, often including wet lands, bush and hills. The sire, Red Wilbar Over The Top 825Z carries great muscle definition and was the Farm Fair Reserve Grand Champion Red Angus Bull in 2014. Lot 55: Belle 5E is a long, thick, clean
fronted daughter of S A V Renown. Renown is a popular AI bull siring lighter birth weight calves with exceptional growth and performance. 5E has been a real stand out among my heifer calves this year. Her dam is a moderate cow with a beautiful udder and correct feet and legs. I have retained her last 2 heifer calves in herd. This heifer is quiet and was shown at the Nechako Valley Exhibition Angus Gold Show where she was the reserve champion heifer calf.

◆ Lynn Jackson, Harry, Jackson, and Harrison Hooke ◆ Welcome to the first of many Shades of Autumn Production and Prospect Sale. We are very honoured to be a part of this event. We have been raising purebred Angus for 17 years. In 2014 life threw us a curve ball and we made the decision to sell 90% of our herd and since that time we have been slowly rebuilding. Although we are still very small in numbers, the core of our animals represent the culmination of years of selective breeding and our desire to create females that are thick, heavy boned with superior milk production and wonderful maternal instincts. Our goal is to raise quality livestock that will thrive and breed in even the most demanding environments. We sell only the very best of our breeding stock. The bulls must be easy fleshing, have good feet, excellent scrotal measurements and superior carcass numbers. Our cows must be easy keeping with good feet and udders, performance and fertility and a good disposition. All of the animals out of our original herd had bull calves this year so we decided to consign a heifer that highlights the Poplar Meadows genetics. We have been supporters of Tanya’s program for many years and can’t think of a better compliment to her and her program than to showcase some of her genetics. Canyon Tree Farms Inc. CTF Mayflower Aviator 5E is a beautifully put together female. She is a very deep bodied, moderate framed female. We delayed our 2017 calving by 5 weeks in order to take a trip of a lifetime to New Zealand so she is a month younger than what we would normally have, but her adjusted weaning weight of 689 lbs shows that this did not slow her down. With an incredible pedigree on both the top and bottom this heifer is genetically predetermined to do great things!
