Riverfront Angus Ranch We would like to take this opportunity to welcome you all to our first annual bull sale. It is very exciting for us to be writing our first welcome for our own sale, and to be honest a dream come true. The past couple of years have been a whirlwind, but we have been very fortunate to gain quality customers both from the Ranchers Choice Bull Sale and from selling our bulls private treaty last year. As our bull calf crop has over doubled since last year, we thought it was a good fit to join the staff at the Medicine Hat Feeding Company and offer our bull calf crop in a small sale. The offering is not large, but we believe you will find the quality runs deep.

As some of you may not know us too well, rest assured both of our families have been involved in the Angus breed for numerous years. We have been able to learn from years of experience. As many of you know my uncle Kim Robertson was part of the Ranchers Choice Bull Sale hosted in Medicine Hat for 30 plus years, and Rachele’s grandfather Aldo has been a member of the Canadian Angus Association for 50 plus years. We are blessed to be a family run operation with our kids now being the 4 generation currently on the ranch, along side both Aldo and Randal Pederzolli. Our cow herd runs approximately 1/3 registered cows and 2/3’s commercial angus cross cows.

Riverfront Angus Ranch was started in 2012 with the purchase of some open heifers from some of Canada’s top Angus breeders. Our goal with starting a new herd of cattle was to buy the best set of cows we could, with quality in mind and not quantity. The past couple of years have provided the opportunity to buy some larger groups of cattle out of established and distinguished herds with both Ebon Hill and Saskalta Farms dispersing.

We couldn’t be more proud of the group of cattle we have assembled. We put high importance on udder and foot quality, hair, and fleshing ability.

Our bull calf crop descends from the industries top A.I. sires, and also a couple of really interesting walking sires. We have also incorporated embryo transfer, which will help us achieve a top quality cow herd, and there are 2 sets of flush brothers who are in the top of the calf crop. Rest assured that these bulls all descend from a top end cow. The bulls are fully guaranteed and will all be semen tested prior to the sale. If an issue should arise, please know we are here for the long haul, and look forward to keeping customers for years to come.

We are extremely pleased to lead off the catalogue with a bull we really think highly of. Riverfront Elevate 710E checks off all of the boxes. He is wide based, thick topped, hairy and walks on a solid foot. Maybe the best part of 710 is his dam. She is a front pasture cow, who was purchased from Brooking Angus Ranch as a heifer calf. She has an outstanding udder, is angular made, and will have a big influence in years to come. A maternal brother is working at YY Ranching and another looks to be already a feature next year.

702E is a really solid bull in all areas. He stems from a very desired pedigree mixing both performance and calving ease with Upward and Final Answer. He recorded a very fitting 84 Lb birth weight, and posted impressive weaning and yearling weight numbers. The dam is one of out most consistent and solid producers. A full brother sold to PFRA and sister is at the top of our bred heifers. They are the type of females you couldn’t have enough of.

Riverfront Way Point may have the best feet in the pen, and may possible have the most hair as well. He is a thick, big butted bull, with an awesome disposition.

Another embryo calf who should go out and impress. We were extremely lucky to get our hands on one of the last embryo’s from Roger and Jo Hillestad at Ebon Hill Angus, and even luckier that it caught. This is a mating that has been super productive. This bull would be a full brother to the dam of RFA 706, who is a feature bull in this sale, and made the cover of this catalogue. I have seen a full brother as well, and was really impressed by him. The Queen Family at Ebon hill is surely one of its best, and the production just at our place alone proves it. We sold 2 of our top bulls last year to WB Ranching out of full sisters to Decoy. RFA 709 himself is long sided, square made, smooth and not to mention started off with a 76 Lb birth weight.

His sire is an extremely popular bull for Semex, and we have been impressed with his first calf crop for us. He was selected for his performance and a twist in pedigree. The dam is a full sibling to RFA 709, and raised one of our top bulls last year on her first try. She is a heavy milking female who stamps her progeny with length and depth. Another Tour of Duty son with a square hip, length of spine, and an extended front end. This bull has a nice birth weight and loads of hair. The dam has been a model for fertility. She consistently breeds back each year and has one of our first calves. Her first daughter calved this year and possesses the same beautiful udder her mother has. A son was a sale high light for us going to Ellis Ranching.

193Z was also part of the first group of heifers we purchased from Hamiltons and has certainly paid her way. She is a very moderate cow, with perfect feet and an ample amount of milk., not to mention a disposition we all strive for.

Anyone looking to add pounds to their calf crop, here was the leader when the dust settled after weaning. HWY 709 is a wide topped, lengthy bull, full of meat. He has continued to stay near the top of the class and will be a bull that will get some attention sale day. His sire Double Vision is a power house of a bull know for early growth and added frame. The dam was purchased as a heifer calf, and boasts a pedigree packed with performance. She is a feminine looking cow with good feet and lots milk. She has a level udder and a disposition 2nd to none. A daughter has been retained and also a bull calf to use on our commercial cows.

Riverfront Flare 735E is a bull that is certainly one of my favorites. This bull may get overlooked being a couple months younger than his pen mates, but deserves a second look. He is moderate framed bull, who is thick and deep. He had an extremely impressive weaning weight and has a treasured pedigree.

The sire descends from some of the top cows in the industry and stands on perfect feet. The dam is one of our top cows, and will certainly enter our donor pen. She is a massive bodied cow, with perfect feet and a great udder. She is a treat to be around and raised 2 heifer calves on her own on her first try. We retained those heifers, and they both calved this year portraying the same great characteristics.

A bull calf raised by a first calver, that sports a very maternal pedigree. 726’s mother was a purchase out of the Windy Hill sale, who was a sale feature. She was a beautiful bred heifer, with as much volume and presence as you could put in one. She is moderate and angular. The sire descends from a very powerful cow family in that of the Royal Lass. We have had superb luck with a maternal sister to Déjà Vu, where we have sold 2 females to top end purebred operations, and have kept 2 sisters for ourselves. Deception himself was a very impressive calf right from birth. He was born unassisted, but had as much bone and thickness as any of our bull calves. He has great hair and a stylish look.

I feel like a broken record with another Winston 10Z son. A March calf out of my favourite cow from the Saskalta dispersal. Straight Canadian pedigree once again in a bull that is hairy, thick, and deep sided. He is square hipped, level topped and has the 40W bull on the bottom side of the pedigree who did so much. The only son to sell out of our now resident herd sire AA Bandolier 45Z. When we seen 45Z come to town to sell, we knew we needed to own him. He saw a lot of service at our place this summer and we are now starting to have his first calf crop at our place. He is a smooth and stylish bull, who has as much rib and depth as you could put in one. He has a great disposition, and remained in awesome shape after being with a large group of cows for an extended breeding season. 130 started out at a modest 82 lb birth weight, and looks to carry on that calving ease. He owns good extension in the front end and nice square hip in rear.
