Riverfront Angus Ranch On behalf of everyone at Riverfront Angus Ranch, I would like to welcome everyone to our 4th Annual Bull Sale. The Sale will once again be hosted at the Medicine Hat Feeding Company, and will be on April 6, At 1:00 PM. The sale will once again be hosted on DLMS, and depending on restrictions, hopefully we will have a large crowd capacity at the auction market. It certainly has been a crazy year, but surely one to remember. With all the craziness in the world today, it is nice to be involved in an industry that has been relatively unscathed. It’s nice to see that the importance of the cattle industry has been recognized. With all the changes in the world, there also has been some around our place. With the purchase of some new land and the addition of a new calving barn, it has been an exciting time for us, and we are certainly excited about the future. As every year passes, we are striving to get better. It is important to be able to offer our customers a quality product and one that we will stand behind no matter what. There really is nothing more important to me that the success and happiness of our customers with our cattle. I know it is cliché, but this will be our best set of bulls, and I believe it should be that way. The quality from one end to the other is way more consistent, and I believe the top end is more exciting than in the past. Breeding cattle takes time and breeding decisions take time to see results. We think we are on the right path, and are really excited about the sires we are using. This will be the first year of the highly anticipated HF Alcatraz sons to sell. We were very blessed to get in on the ground floor of this bull and are excited to share his first sons. HF Alcatraz was the Canadian Record from the 2019 Hamilton farms sale where he sold for $200 000 for half interest. We have really made an effort to ensure feet and udders are at the top of our priorities, and believe we have found that with the bulls we are using. We have a large amount heifer approved bulls this year, and also performance bulls for your cowherd. There will be something for everyone. As always, the bulls are available for viewing anytime from now until the sale. We are located just 5 miles out of Medicine Hat, and the bulls are easily accessible. Also, the cows are very close and we would love to show you the dams of these bulls and the next calf crop. The bulls will also be in at the Medicine Hat feeding Company early Monday, April 5 if you wish to view them there. New this year, there will be videos posted, which will be on the DLMS website. With the crazy year it has been and the not known future of restrictions, whatever we can do to help with your bull needs, please let us know. If that means helping with online bidding, telephone bidding, or viewing the bulls prior. 009H is a bull that has impressed us for a long time, and thus earned the right as our lot 1 bull. His sire, Brooking Firebrand is a bull we are really excited about. Some of our best calves on the ground are Firebrands and we will continue to breed many more cows this year to him. Unfortunately, this year we only have 2 sons to sell and they are both some of our best. The daughters in the replacement pen all filter out at the top as well. As for 009H, he exemplifies a lot of power and rib shape. He is big topped and stands on 4 really solid feet. Maybe the most impressive thing about this bull is he was raised by his 2-year-old Silver Lining dam. A maternal sister to the dam is our most powerful replacement heifer and we are expecting big things out of her.

Here is the other Firebrand calf in sale and is equally as high quality as the lot 1. 014 is a super stout, soggy made bull with a big hip. He was a real stand out all summer long that showed early maturity and was easy to pick out. These firebrands have a ton of hair and stand on perfect feet. The dam is a powerhouse cow and has sold 2 bulls through this sale and a daughter private treaty. 014 is a twin.

Big time performance bull here. If you are looking to add pounds at weaning and put some growth into your calves, 040 would be a good option. He is a full sib to our lead off bull last year going to Highline Angus. He is sired by the very popular Brooking Bank note, who is also the sire of Brooking Fire brand. We are calving many Bank Note daughters and they seem to be very promising. The dam 173B was the 2014 Jr. Calf Champion @ Agribition and has went on to be a very consistent donor for us. Another full sib has hit the ground for us again this year, and shows the consistency of bone and hair in this flush.

Sired by SAV Heston, I wish we would have secured more semen and bred more cows than we did. 012 is the only son we have, and he is a good one. The daughters in our replacement pen are equally impressive and we kept everyone. 012 is one of the deepest bulls in the pen, and is sound and structurally correct. He has a big top on him and is full of meat. The dam has been a great producer for us and is apart of the first group of cows we purchased.

Lot 5 is a really solid bull. Once again, I wish we had some more of these sons. We sampled Stunner on our heifers a couple years ago and were really impressed. Unfortunately, we were unable to secure semen on him last year after his passing. We used a son on our heifers again this year with great success. We calved out our first daughters and they all have good udders and are very maternal. This guy is a result of an in-dam purchase from the famous U2 Dispersal. The cow is a moderate made female with a good udder. On his own merit, 021H is phenotypically attractive with a calving ease profile and a 84 lb birthweight. Our only Stunner son last year went to work @ Mo Angus.

A sale feature. HF Alcatraz 60F caused quite the stir @ the 2019 Hamilton Farms Sale where he sold for a Canadian record of $200 000 for half interest. We were fortunate enough to be a part of it with a purchase of a semen pack. The Alcatraz calves are structurally awesome and all near perfect footed. The calves come easily and all have great dispositions. Riverfront Alcatraz 016H represents the best Alcatraz son @ our place. He is everything we were looking for when we decided to get in on Alcatraz. He is big bodied, big hipped, and long bodied. His feet are perfect and is quiet as a puppy. His dam is a young cow who quickly is becoming one of our favourites. We love our Earnan cows, and this guy is the reason why. 608 has an awesome udder and will be a producer for a long time. The Granddam was purchased from Brooking Angus Ranch, and brings one of our best calves in every year.

005 is a bull we have been excited about for a long time. He really puts it all together in terms of paper and real world. An Alcatraz X Bank Note combination, this bull represents some of the best genetics we have on offer. The two year old dam is certainly one of our favourites. She is a massive bodied female, good footed, and typical of the Bank Note daughters. The grandam was headed for our Donor pen, but was lossed to soon. RFA 005 was a standout all summer, and shows as much bone and hair as any. He is certainly at the top for heifer bull prospects with just a 72 lb birthweight, but kept right up throughout weaning.

Another good bull by Alcatraz out of an awesome HF Prowler daughter purchased from Brooking Angus Ranch. The 301 cow is awesome uddered, great footed, and is a wide as she is tall. Most recently, she sold one of our high sellers to Krooked Rail Ranch last year. 041 is a soggy, deep sided bull, with added hair. He has a desirable BW @ 85 Lbs and good performance numbers to match.

The 501 cow continues to produce consistent progeny for us through ET. She has a flush group of sons later in this catalog. 026 is a long sided bull that should produce some great females.

We experimented in our first year with Alcatraz by breeding some heifers, and it worked out really well. The dam 129F was purchased through the Hamiltons farms sale, and is certainly one of our favourites out of that group of heifers. She is turning into a long bodied, powerful cow, with a tidy udder. If you are looking to breed some heifers, I think this guy should be at the top of the list. He has a calving ease head and is smooth through his shoulders.

The last Alcatraz son, but shouldn’t be overlooked. Out of an awesome first calver we purchased out of the impressive Bar-E-L herd. She is a phenotypical stand out who combines power and feminity. You couldn’t draw up a better udder. 036 is another top candidate for the heifer pen. With an 80 lb birthweight and the look of a calving ease bull, it would be hard to go wrong.

Here is a pair of flush brothers that would be full sibs to the 2018 Canadian Western Agribition Reserve Champion Female. We have flushed 501C a couple times to Silver Lining trying to get a few more female full sibs. We have managed to get only 1 female to stick, but have a group of brothers that I think have something to offer as well. These 2 bothers are cookie cutter to each other, and unfortunately there was a third equally as good who we lossed after weaning. These bulls offer a lot of maternal power with the Rosebud cow family on the bottom side and of course Silver Lining on the top going back to the famous Lady cow family. These bulls are thick, wide topped, and have great hair and feet. For guys keeping replacements I think there should be a star by these guys.

Lot 18 is another Silver lining out of our Royal Lass cow Family. The original Royal Lass was purchased through Brooking Angus Ranch and has been an exceptional producer. She has had all daughters up to this year, and everyone has been retained or sold in consignment sales. The dam of lot 18 is really moderate made cow, with a perfect udder and disposition. You can see her influence in this bull, with a modest 81 lb birthweight, and a clean front end with a calving ease head. This bull certainly gets noticed in the pen, as he is very eye appealing. Last years son sold to Dale Ausmus.

Sale Feature. We were looking for an outcross bull to use on our heifers last year and came across FF Black Gold from Flesch’s in Montana. We are super impressed with the calves’ calving ease and growth. The lot 19 Bull may be as impressive as any. With a 66 lb birthweight, he came easy and continued to grow and grow posting an actual weight of just shy of 1400 lbs on February 1. He exemplifies so much rib shape, a proud front end, and a thick top. An impressive job by a first calver that continues to look the part.

Lot 20 is the other Black Gold Son we have, and I think will provide a lot of value. With the small sample size of Black Gold calves we have, we definitely will be utilizing him some more. The females are equally impressive as the bulls, and we are looking forward to getting them into production. 003 is another top calving ease prospect. Another 70 lb birthweight that has good performance numbers. The dam is a direct daughter of one of the best cows we own. She has entered our Donor Program and will have a great influence on our herd.

Riverfront Gold Buckle 024H is a bull with a neat look and a calving ease phenotype. HF Gold Buckle was one of the first highly anticipated HA Cowboy Up calves to sell in Canada. We experimented with him on both heifers and cows and got a really solid set of calves. The dam of 024 is a very good Bank Note daughter purchased from Brooking. With a 74 lb birth weight, he has turned into a desirable bull with lots of shape and a clean front end.

Lot 23 is a bull I really like, and I like his dam even more. 414 has been a favourite cow around our place and seems to be getting better and better with age. Her last few calves have been some of our best. We have retained 2 daughters and her other son was the lot 1 bull in our 2019 Sale to WB Cattle Co. She has now entered our Donor Program and we cannot wait to start getting more calves year after year from her. I could use a whole page describing the accomplishments of the Beauty cow family in Canada, as she is a direct daughter of the famous TLA Beauty 6R. 414 is as deep bodied cow as you could make one, with a fantastic udder, a pretty front end, and 4 solid feet. On the sire side of 023, is a walking bull we have here on the ranch that cleans up after AI. The Renovation cattle are picking up steam and are very popular throughout Canada and the US. Riverfront Renovation 023H was a real stand out from an early age, and was always fun to check out on pasture tours.

056 is a good calving ease prospect that replicates his sire very well. We have used 8099 to clean up our heifers the last couple of years with great success. He developed into a very attractive bull, who’s offspring show lots of length and proud look. A 75 lb birthweight on this guy, there is calving ease on both sides of the pedigree. The dam is one of those cows who is just a solid producer, who raised a good calf every year and bred back early for the next year. We lossed her to injury this year, but have 2 daughters retained, a daughter sold to Midland Cattle Co and a son to Ellis Ranching.

She has a perfect udder and a great phenotype. After calving this guy out in March, she has once again caught up and had a really nice Firebrand bull calf this February.
