Riverfront Angus Ranch We would like to welcome everybody to our 2nd Annual Bull Sale, and also take the opportunity to thank everyone that’s has showed interest and purchased bulls in the past. It has been and exciting year for us as we ventured into the show world slightly.

We were very fortunate to send a heifer calf to Regina for Agribition , where she was named Sr. HFR Calf Champion and as well went on to win Reserve Champion Female.

We had a good showing at the Medicine Hat Beef Pen Show, and ended the year winning Champion Pen of three heifers at the Crossroads Beef Expo in Oyen. These accomplishments have helped solidify our strategy of trying to raise the best cowherd we can, thus supplying bulls to the industry backed by great maternal power.

It has been a challenging year for everyone with dry conditions throughout the summer and extreme cold temperatures through February. One can only be optimistic that 2019 will get turned around. We weaned the bulls about a month earlier than years past. Despite the dry conditions, the cows came in this fall in great shape, and believe they did a great job on this years calf crop. We have a wide variety of bulls this year that can satisfy most any customer whether you are looking for the heifer pen or the cow pasture. The offering is not large, but the quality runs deep through the pen. We strive to provide bulls with performance, added length and hair, and backed by a strong cow.

As time goes by the cattle industry has been more rewarding for us. As our kids grow, they have developed more of an interest and are able to help out more and more. All three kids have joined 4-H now, and Paisley is working on her first Beef Project. The boys continue to be busy with hockey and baseball, and Paisley with dance and riding lessons.

This wouldn’t be at all possible without the help and support of our family. A special thanks to both Aldo and Randal for everything they do behind the scenes. We look forward to seeing everyone on April 3 at the Medicine Hat Feeding Company. The bulls will be available for viewing Tuesday afternoon, or anytime between now and then at the Ranch. 814 is a bull that made it a pretty easy decision for us to start the catalog off with. He represents everything we are trying to produce. The Bank Note sire group has exceeded our expectations, producing both bulls and females with added look, performance, and hair. The combination of two of the top cow families in the business has produced a bull that is long sided, hairy, stout, proud, and standing on a great foot. This bull is also quiet as a mouse, which I don’t think can be overlooked. The dam is a moderate made cow, with a great foot and a flawless udder. Both her mother and full sisters are high income earning cows, and have produced progeny that have been very sought after. She will certainly be entering our donor program.

Here’s a pair of flush brothers out of the $125 000 Bank Note Bull and one of the leading donors in the industry. We acquired these embryos from Brooking Angus Ranch hoping to add to our replacement pen.

We were fortunate enough to get 1 heifer calf and these 2 bulls. If you are keeping replacements, I believe these 2 bulls will do the job. The dam is a long bodied cow, with added volume and a picture perfect udder. These brothers have loads of style, have a caught our attention all summer.

Gold Coast is the last Bank Note calf in the pen, but surely not the least. If you are looking to add thickness and muscle to your calf crop, look no further. This guy is built like a tank and is easily the deepest bull in the offering. His ability to convert feed has been impressive. Gold Coast has awesome hair and is extremely docile.

His dam is a favorite on the ranch and doesn’t seem to miss. We plan to flush her in the future and will have a lasting impact on our herd. Last years calf was a sale feature and the lead off bull in this sale going to Spring Coulee Ranch. If you’re a numbers guy, 818 has an impressive set of EPD’s.

Here is the lead off Upward son who may have the most herd bull look of any. He is a real rugged ranch bull, with length hair, middle and a solid foot. His dam was selected in the Saskalta dispersal and has turned out to be one of our favorites from that sale. She is a big-bodied cow with a nice udder. Upward himself has been a mainstay when selecting A.I Sires. He continuously has left us with high performance attractive cattle.

803 and 804 are a set of twins that came of pasture that simply impressed us. Unfortunately, we never found a nurse cow to take one of them, so their dam Brooking Bride 249 raised them both. They weaned off very respectable weights, and have continued to excel since. 249, is one of those cows you could use a hundred of them. Since her arrival to our place, she has given birth to a small calf that has always been one of the heaviest at weaning.

She has been one our most fertile cows as well, catching her A.I Service every year. The bulls themselves are thick, stout bulls, with added hair. A full brother sold last year to Bar X Bar/ Cypress Cattle Co.

Another set of twins that came off pasture both being nursed by their dam. Motive has transmitted a stylish look to these calves. Another calving ease option, these bulls are both smooth shouldered, and have good length. The dam was purchased out of the historic Soo Line Dispersal, and has done an excellent job. She is a bigger framed cow that covers all the basics in udder and foot quality. After weaning these 2 off, she was able to catch once again to early service and had a January calf.

802 is best described as a heifer bull deluxe. I think this bull offers a lot. He is moderate made, but offers extra muscle shape and thickness. He is a Motive son with a 74lb birth weight, who will gain some friends on sale day. His dam has a refreshing pedigree, combining one of the great new sires, with the tried and true Upward. The grand Dam was our absolute favorite cow from Ebon Hill, Roger and Jo Hillestad. Unfortunately we lost her unexpectedly this winter. She was destined to go to our donor pen, but will now have to carry her legacy on through the couple of daughters we have retained.

A maternal sister is one of our top heifers in the replacement pen, and we believe she has a big future. Going back to 802’s dam, we feel she has done a very good job on her first calf, and has turned around and caught her early A.I service once again.

Another heifer approved bull with a neat look and solid paperwork. 806 is another result of a heifer doing a great job on her first try. Calving ease bred on both sides of the pedigree, combining Motive and Final Answer. The dam is a young cow who we hope produces just like her mom. So far so good, as she dropped a gorgeous udder, and bred back to give us an early January calf again. Sleep well at night, and watch these calves grow all summer.

Another bull raised by a first calver, the dam 602 comes by it honestly, knowing how to work. The grand dam 193Z was purchased out of the Hamilton Farms herd, and is a no miss cow. 602 herself has a very feminine, maternal look to her. Fuel Up was purchased to partly use on our heifers. The birth weights on these calves seem to be deceptive, as we have had next to no trouble calving him out to heifers the last few years. He is a direct son of SAV Resource, and out of an awesome SAV Density Cow. We are looking for big things out of his daughters, but the best thing about him is he stands on perfect feet.

The dam is a massive bodied female coming to us from the Hamilton Farms program. 162Z could possibly be the quietest cow in our herd, and is a easy fleshing female with a great udder. 851 has a proud look to him, and once again should produce some great females.

He is masculine, hairy, and soggy. The cow has been a solid producer for us, with sons going to Billy Carter and Stuber Ranches, respectively. 3X came to us in another dispersal, and has certainly earned her way. A massive bodied cow, solid from the ground up, and a typical Tiger udder.

845 is another March calf that will develop into a very good bull. 845 is a typical 45Z son, as he carries his head high on the move, and has the look of a herd bull. He has great length and good hair. The mother was an exciting purchase for us a few years back. She sold in the Soo line Dispersal as a member of a great set of flush sisters. We were fortunate to get the opportunity to purchase her a couple years later. She maintains a little different twist in pedigree for us, but a very solid cow. She is a deep, long sided, brood cow, with good feet and solid udder.

840 is a really good Ambush son. We purchased 41A from the Hillestads as we admired his length of body, and overall volume. The dam is one of the top young cows we were able to acquire of from the Saskalta dispersal.

She hales from the famed Annie K cow family, and her sire is a maternal brother to our walking sire 45Z. She has done a really nice job on her first 2 calves, as they have an attractive look, and are long sided ranch bulls.
