Ring Creek Farms 8th Annual Bull Sale 2017

Page 1

Welcome to the Ring Creek Farms 8th Annual Bull Sale Len & Pat Friedel

Bruce & Brock Friedel

Dear Friends We are pleased to be here and planning another Bull Sale. The year passed presented some challenges with 31” of rain during the growing season. Harvest was difficult and delayed but hard work and Farmer innovation and ingenuity did get much of the harvest completed. It is still a great time to own Black Angus cows. Their fertility, calving ease and maternal milk and ability to raise a good calf are unequalled in the cow business. Combined with their low maintenance and hardiness they still return a dollar on investment. Our focus needs to be on good quality cows, with good feet and legs and udders that are trouble free and don’t break down. Cows should be of moderate size, have longevity and breed consistency, year after year. The economics of longevity and consistency can be measured in dollars returned to your program. There are some top prospects in this offering and they have been fed 8 lbs per day grain ration leading up to the sale and long hay free choice. Visual appraisal and EPD numbers are a guideline and offer some insight into the breeding potential of each individual. Come early to the sale and study the offering and be our guests for lunch. Our concern is your comfort and satisfaction and we guarantee you will enjoy the experience. Sincerely Pat & Len Friedel Bruce & Brock Friedel

Visitors are welcome to view the bulls at the farm, located 2 miles north of Fairview on #732 and 1/2 mile east on Township Road #822. Please join us for a Complimentary Lunch on Sale Day at 11:30 a.m. It is with great pride that we welcome you back to the 8th Annual Ring Creek Bull Sale. The Friedel family are some of the most sincere and hardworking producers we get the opportunity to work with every year. They are truly some of the most enjoyable producers we work with each bull sale season and their passion for agriculture and the Angus breed is second to none. The 2017 Ring Creek line-up is stacked with some of the most industryleading genetics that you will find marketed all spring. They diligently source the strongest cattle available to produce a highly sought-after product for the most progressive cattleman to incorporate into their programs and increase ROI. These sire selections are backed by one of the strongest and hardworking cow herds in the business. Fertility, udder strength, foot quality and overall confirmation are among the very best at Ring Creek Farms. This strong group of bulls is also highlighted with one special replacement female that is sired by the great Cash 4003. The entire sale offering is full of quality genetics to benefit your bottom line. We hope you can make it sale day to Fairview but if you can’t, feel free to utilize our free order buying services. See you at Ring Creek Farms on March 28 for some strong cattle and great hospitality from the Friedel family.

To evaluate seed stock, use EPDs, pedigree and visual assessment. With EPDs the concept of “intermediate optimums” works best. Selection for one trait or for extremes generally results in unexpected consequences due to genetic corrections - for example, intense selection for high yearling weights will also increase birth weight. Successful cattle breeding requires a thoughtful and balanced approach to optimize fertility, growth and carcass merit while improving profitability and efficiency.

Reference Sires Tiger is one of our feature herd sires and was purchased as a calf in Hamilton Farms 2007 Bull Sale for a record breaking $52,000.00 for one half interest. This bull represents all the qualities we are looking for in Angus cattle. He has been admired by many astute cattlemen for his correct structure, appealing muscle shape and proud character. He is sired by Kodiak 5R, who has become perhaps the greatest proginator in the Angus breed. Tiger’s show record may not be soon equalled but much greater and more important has been his breeding performance, siring so many high quality offspring, both sexes. When we first saw El Tigre 28U it was our conviction that he showed the same potential as TIGER 5T and it took $82,000.00 to purchase him (1/2 interest). He has developed into a mature athletic individual with great breeding capacity. He is very sound and Tiger and El Tigre are both about the best footed Angus cattle we have seen. El Tigre’s progeny, both sexes, are of very high quality and he is writing his own chapter in the Angus breed. Worthy of note, Dam HF Echo 84R established herself as a breeding powerhouse with these her first two calves. They are no accident and El Tigre 28U has attracted alot of attention by some very keen cattlemen with semen sales to numerous countries overseas such as England, Scotland, Ireland, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Australia, and some European countries. Reference Sires Identity was the $59,000 top selling bull of the 2011 Koupals Angus Bull Sale. Identity is a sensibly sized Upward son with as much muscle and stoutness of bone as you will find. He uniquely combines his power and performance with a high degree of smoothness, eye appeal and correctness of structure. Identity’s mother is widely regarded as one of the top donor dams in the Koupal Angus herd. She is feminine, perfect uddered, moderate framed and easy fleshing. She has earned weaning ratios of 107 and yearling ratios of 108. Identity has a very gentle and easy going disposition.

It takes a little courage And a lot of self control And some given determination If you want to reach a goal It takes a deal of striving And a stern and firm set chin No matter what the battle If you’re really out to win There is a rule in life to guide you As you see prosperity Never put your wishbone Where your backbone ought to be
