2015 -2016 has been quite exciting as we calved the heifers we had retained at the time of our 2013 cow herd dispersal. These young cows are a real solid group with their maternal ability and quality udders. Their production on dry conditions and short grass were nothing short of amazing. The industry has recovered and stabilized and what a great time to be involved with the Angus breed. The calves in the sale are being fed an 8 lb per day grain ration and long hay free choice. They are outstanding with their thickness, depth and overall dimension. They are efficient, easy feeding and do more with less. We believe the bulls can contribute an economic benefit and if you are a commercial cowman looking for quality Black Angus bulls at affordable prices this is the sale for you. In a short period of time, Pat and Len Friedel of Ring Creek Farms built an outstanding herd of Angus cows. Unfortunately, due to health concerns, the entire herd of bred females were dispersed in December of 2013, in what was one of the highlights of that fall sale season.

The heifer calves born in 2013 were retained, and those are the mothers of the bulls selling in this year’s bull sale. These bulls still represent the foundation genetics of the Ring Creek program, some of the country’s best cow families, bred to the best herd sires money can buy. Cattle Inspection: All carry permanent identity tags and all shall be available prior to sale.

Breeding Guarantee: All cattle are sound and right and all with a responsible breeder guarantee of satisfaction. In the event of any unlikely dispute, the regular terms and conditions standard with the Canadian Angus Association shall apply. Terms of Sale: Are cheque or cash at par payable to the clerk of the sale at the sale location. No invoicing of buyers unless previous arrangements have been made with the owners.The right of property shall not pass until after settlement has been made. Every animal sells to the highest bidder and in cases of dispute the auctioneer’s decision will be final.

Insurance: Ownership risk to purchaser commences when the auctioneer’s hammer falls. Bulls returning to RING CREEK FARM must be insured. Livestock coverage will be available sale day.

Expected Progeny Differences: Statistics generated for individual cattle through national genetic evaluations.

EPDs - Allow breeders to estimate a young animal’s breeding value, that animal’s value as a parent - Allow a fair comparison of breeding value by removing environmental bias such as climate, feed and special management - Are the best tool available to compare animals between herds, countries and year of birth - Help breeders make informed decisions regarding breeding stock selection by evaluating numerous traits such as growth-related traits, carcass traits and reproductivity - Estimate the group performance of one parent compared to the group performance of another parent assuming similar mates.

EPDs EVALUATE GROUP AVERAGES AND OFFSPRING’S PERFORMANCE.THEY CANNOT PREDICT INDIVIDUAL PERFORMANCE ANDWEIGHTS To evaluate seed stock, use EPDs, pedigree and visual assessment.With EPDs the concept of “intermediate optimums” works best. Selection for one trait or for extremes generally results in unexpected consequences due to genetic corrections - for example, intense selection for high yearling weights will also increase birth weight. Successful cattle breeding requires a thoughtful and balanced approach to optimize fertility, growth and carcass merit while improving profitability and efficiency.

Reference Sires Tiger is one of our feature herd sires and was purchased as a calf in Hamilton Farms 2007 Bull Sale for a record breaking $52,000.00 for one half interest. This bull represents all the qualities we are looking for in Angus cattle. He has been admired by many astute cattlemen for his correct structure, appealing muscle shape and proud character. He is sired by Kodiak 5R, who has become perhaps the greatest proginator in the Angus breed. Tiger’s show record may not be soon equalled but much greater and more important has been his breeding performance, siring so many high quality offspring, both sexes.

When we first saw El Tigre 28U it was our conviction that he showed the same potential as TIGER 5T and it took $82,000.00 to purchase him (1/2 interest). He has developed into a mature athletic individual with great breeding capacity. He is very sound and Tiger and El Tigre are both about the best footed Angus cattle we have seen. El Tigre’s progeny, both sexes, are of very high quality and he is writing his own chapter in the Angus breed. Worthy of note, Dam HF Echo 84R established herself as a breeding powerhouse with these her first two calves.

They are no accident and El Tigre 28U has attracted alot of attention by some very keen cattlemen with semen sales to numerous countries overseas such as England, Scotland, Ireland, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Australia, and some European countries.

Although this pedigree is relatively new to Canada, the Ambush line has been working successfully for the Stevenson-Basin Ranch from Montana for many years.
